Oscar was unaware of the sorrowful atmosphere at Shrek Academy. By the time Dugu Bo arrived, Oscar was still personally teaching Dugu Yan how to craft poisons!
The poisons Oscar made might not compare to Tang San's King of Hell's Decree or the like. But they were more than enough to deal with Soul Masters of the same level.
After all, the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Eye contained no shortage of poisonous herbs. Ten Thousand Year poisonous herbs had already reached the level of spiritual medicines, and their toxicity was far beyond that of ordinary herbs.
By the seventh day, while Oscar was in the stone house personally teaching Dugu Yan how to use medicine and mix poisons, Dugu Bo and Gai Yue had already arrived at the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Eye without a sound.
The reason Dugu Bo only took four days to return with Gai Yue was that on his way back, he had chosen to take the main road. He happened to run into Gai Yue and Shao Xin.
After Dugu Bo told Gai Yue the news about Oscar, Gai Yue first froze in place. Then he looked at Dugu Bo in disbelief.
"Senior, was Xiao Ao really under your nose? With your strength, how could you not have been able to protect him?"
Dugu Bo, of course, knew it was hard for Gai Yue to believe. But he could only express his helplessness.
The Ice and Fire Yin Yang Eye was a terrifying spring that even he didn't dare to touch for long. For Oscar to have fallen into it, Dugu Bo couldn't imagine any other possibility.
Dugu Bo told Gai Yue his own findings and speculations at the time. Even if Gai Yue was still skeptical, he couldn't doubt it now.
After all, Dugu Bo was a Title Douluo. There was no reason for him to joke about this or make fun of him.
Gai Yue took a moment to compose himself. Then he had Shao Xin return to Shrek Academy on his own while he followed Dugu Bo at full speed back to the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Eye.
Upon arriving, Gai Yue followed Dugu Bo to the edge of the spring. Dugu Bo also pointed out the spot where he had found Oscar's two soul guides.
Gai Yue squinted his eyes at the spring. After a long while, he sighed.
"Xiao Ao, you've been with me for over two years. In truth, I've already come to see you as my own son, and I wanted to nurture you well. After all, you brat boasted to me that we would go get revenge together..."
Gai Yue sat by the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Eye, gazing at the two-tone spring with its distinctly separated waters. He mumbled to himself for a moment before getting up to leave.
He couldn't stay here for long. Otherwise, the terrifying aura of extreme cold and extreme heat would also harm him. This was a place even Dugu Bo didn't dare to stay in for extended periods.
Gai Yue wasn't angry with Dugu Bo. While he was reproachful, what could he do about it? The man was a Title Douluo!
Moreover, Dugu Bo, as a Title Douluo, had already done all he could. Gai Yue had no one to blame.
The only thing he felt guilty about was, if he had chosen to stay back then, would Oscar have met this fate? Would the outcome have been different?
Dugu Bo also felt this was his fault. Therefore, he promised Gai Yue one favor. He said that as long as it didn't violate ethics, he, Dugu Bo, would go through hell and high water to fulfill it.
Faced with Dugu Bo's promise, the first thing Gai Yue thought of was asking Dugu Bo to help him get revenge. After all, he was only at Level 85 now.
He was facing the entire Wind Sword Sect, which had now become one of the "Four Lower Sects." For someone like him, this was an absolute behemoth.
However, Gai Yue didn't do that. His disciple, whom he had planned to raise as his own son, was gone. How could he have the audacity to use the disciple's name to further his own goals?
And although Gai Yue was burning with the desire for revenge, eager to obliterate the Wind Sword Sect right now, he would rather get his revenge with his own strength rather than relying on an outsider.
So Gai Yue declined Dugu Bo's promise. He said he only wanted to stay here with Oscar through the "first seven days" after his passing, since Oscar's body was gone and all they could do was build a symbolic tomb.
Dugu Bo didn't refuse this request. And even though Gai Yue had declined his promise, he wouldn't take it back.
The day Gai Yue needed it, he, Dugu Bo, would still fulfill it. This was Dugu Bo's own reputation, the very foundation of his character.
Building a symbolic tomb required items belonging to the deceased. Although Gai Yue had a few of Oscar's clothes and his sausages, it wasn't enough.
So Gai Yue wanted to retrieve Oscar's two soul guides. And regarding this point, even if Gai Yue didn't say anything, Dugu Bo would have taken the initiative to do it himself.
Thus, Dugu Bo led Gai Yue away from the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Eye and went straight to the stone house. Although Dugu Bo had been gone for seven days, Dugu Yan was still here.
He had given the two soul guides to her at the time. But neither of them expected that when they walked into the stone house, they would hear Dugu Yan's silver-bell-like laughter, interspersed with a familiar male voice.
Dugu Bo's brow furrowed instantly, while Gai Yue's eyelids twitched. Hearing that male voice, the image of Oscar's handsome, jade-like face flashed in both their minds.
But it seemed impossible.
However, when the two of them walked into the stone house and saw the scene inside, it nearly fried the CPUs of these two powerful Soul Masters who could already be considered to stand at the pinnacle of the Soul Master world.
There was Oscar, standing behind Dugu Yan. His hands were holding her delicate hands as they together worked with some medicinal herbs in the various bottles and jars before them...
As if noticing the slight movement, Oscar suddenly turned his head. His eyes met Dugu Bo and Gai Yue's...
"Holy shit!" Oscar was stunned for a moment. Then he quickly let go of Dugu Yan's hand and swiftly sidestepped to stand beside her.
Dugu Yan, feeling Oscar suddenly release her, almost dropped the herbs in her hand. Just as she was about to ask what was wrong, she also turned and saw the ghostly expressions on Dugu Bo and Gai Yue's faces.
Dugu Yan was also stunned for a moment. Then her face quickly flushed red.
It hadn't even turned red when Oscar was holding her hand to teach her these past few days because she had already grown used to it. But now, being seen by Dugu Bo and Gai Yue, a wave of awkwardness and shyness washed over her.
She was frozen for a moment before she timidly called out, "Grand... Grandfather, you're back?"
Hearing Dugu Yan's voice, Dugu Bo and Gai Yue finally snapped out of their daze. Their spiritual power instantly locked onto Oscar.
When they confirmed it was indeed him, they exchanged a bewildered look. Both saw confusion in the other's eyes.
Then, Gai Yue's eyes filled with joy and excitement. Dugu Bo, on the other hand, wasn't excited, but in addition to joy, he was furious!
You brat, you're fine? If you were fine, why the hell did you wait until I left to come back? And what the hell were you just doing? You were already holding her?
After hesitating for just a moment, Dugu Bo turned into a blur of motion and instantly flashed towards Oscar. Oscar had already anticipated this outcome and hastily sidestepped again, hiding behind Dugu Yan.
"Your Excellency, let me explain! This is all a misunderstanding!" Oscar shouted loudly, grabbing Dugu Yan's shoulders to block Dugu Bo.
Dugu Yan also unconsciously spread her arms in front of Dugu Bo and explained, "Grandfather, it really is a misunderstanding! Please let us explain..."
