Chapter 68 - Chapter 67

Chapter 67:

The reason he hadn't monetized the work was purely because he was waiting for a proposal from Funny Books, which Choi Mi-hwa belonged to.

"Here is one bottle of Chamisen liquor."

The alcohol had arrived.

Seo Juhwan and Choi Mi-hwa filled each other's glasses.

After setting down her glass, Choi Mi-hwa spoke again.

"You know, Author, if you sign the contract, I'll become your assigned producer?"

Her manner of speaking seemed a bit hesitant.

Seo Juhwan responded without concern.

"That's great. I was hoping PD Choi Mi-hwa would be assigned to me."

"Ah, really? That's a relief. Ah, but I mean, I'm saying this because I'll be your assigned producer."

Why was she hesitating and building suspense?

Seo Juhwan nodded to encourage her to speak freely.

"C-could I get the stockpiled episodes?"

"The stockpile?"

"Yes. As soon as possible."

"Well... that's not a problem, but I haven't done the editing yet. I'll give them to you after I edit."

"Ah! Thank you so much!"

Choi Mi-hwa's face brightened, clearly overjoyed.

The sight of it was amusing, and Seo Juhwan let out a suppressed chuckle. At that, Choi Mi-hwa let out an awkward laugh, looking slightly embarrassed.

"Actually, I'm a huge fan of your work. To be honest, my request was mixed with selfish desire to see it sooner."

"Ha ha. It's nice to hear that my assigned producer is a fan."

"Ah, but I'll definitely give proper feedback, okay?"

Choi Mi-hwa pushed her glasses up and spoke in a firm tone.

At her half-serious jest, Seo Juhwan smirked slightly.

"Of course. Should we toast?"

"I'd like that."

The two continued their conversation about the work after that.

The discussion went smoothly.

Choi Mi-hwa, desperate to secure Seo Juhwan's work, had pressed the company president and offered exceptionally good terms with full authority. It seemed excessive for a rookie whose previous work had performed poorly.

As they talked, several rounds of drinks passed.

The bottle on the table was already the third one.

Including the beer ordered in between, it was a considerable amount.

Choi Mi-hwa drank much better than expected. After the beer arrived, she even made somaek herself, mixing it with such practiced precision that it seemed she'd done it many times before, achieving the perfect golden ratio.

"Cheers."

"Cheers~."

After clinking glasses once more and emptying her drink, Choi Mi-hwa spoke in a slightly looser voice.

"Phew. Ah, the alcohol is going down so smoothly today. I shouldn't be drinking like this since tomorrow is Monday..."

Even as she expressed concern about being quite drunk, she shook her head and tried to refill her glass again.

"Now that I've got Juhwan, nobody can say anything to me. Because your performance is going to be amazing after the monetization."

"Wow. That's a lot of pressure. If the performance doesn't go well, you're not going to blame me, right?"

The two of them were now calling each other by their first names and speaking much more casually.

Seo Juhwan didn't know it, but this was an exceptionally rare occurrence.

The usual Choi Mi-hwa would never have dropped the formal tone. Normally, she didn't socialize privately with authors. She maintained distance with an almost cold demeanor, offering sharp feedback—that was her true nature.

But no matter how she was, she couldn't remain cold toward someone who had saved her from a brutal serial killer. Today wasn't just about work contracts; she wanted to repay her benefactor with at least a meal.

'The conversation flows well, and his style is nice.'

Her friendly attitude was also helped by Seo Juhwan's reasonably attractive appearance. The range of books she read was so wide that their conversation meshed well, and she particularly liked his neat clothing style.

Black slacks and a gray coat over a white turtleneck. Brown loafers underneath.

It was exactly the clean and neat style she preferred.

'Most of all, he writes risqué content well!'

She held back her words for the sake of image, but how much had she enjoyed his previous work, Martial Arts Scarlet Emperor. When she discovered his previous work after reading his current one, it perfectly matched her taste. Of course, his writing skill back then was quite far behind his current level, but in many ways, it was a rough gem of a work.

Perhaps because her preferences had been hit from so many angles.

Choi Mi-hwa let out a somewhat loose laugh, uncharacteristic of her usual self.

"Hehe. Don't worry, I'll give feedback very strictly. Of course, not if you don't want me to."

"Ha ha... please be gentle with me."

However, Seo Juhwan was thinking something different internally.

'Should I suggest going there?'

He was starting to think about moving to a different location. The atmosphere was good, but it didn't seem like anything more would happen at the gopchang restaurant.

He noticed the alcohol had run out and casually brought up the topic.

"Mi-hwa."

"Yes?"

"Would you like to move somewhere else? I have something I'd like to discuss in a quieter place."

"What kind of...?"

"Well, it's about 19-plus content."

The bait he threw, considering her fetish, seemed to land properly.

"...Where should we go?"

Choi Mi-hwa immediately gathered her things and spoke.

"If you have something to discuss about the work, I obviously need to hear you out."

An excuse-like remark followed, but her eyes already showed a deep gleam.

Thanks to that, he was able to move to a different location naturally.
