CHAPTER - 13
AREA - DEAD STRIP
Present,
2090, Tokyo, japan.
Raikun looks at the contagion, more specifically its neck.
Raikun says to himself "Just the neck." He gazes over at the syringe on his hand and up at the contagion again.
Sweat slowly drips from his forehead, he gulps.
"Before it notices me." He proceeds to take a stance, putting one leg in the front, one in the back.
The sound of his breathe grows with each second as he musters up the courage to finally take a step forward.
In two seconds, he rushes forward, holding the syringe in his hand. He puts his hand upward in the air angling the syringe towards its neck.
He kept his breathe shallow and tried not to scream for it to not notice.
The blood from its hungry mouth drips quietly, in a jerky movement it slowly starts turning towards raikun.
Raikuns world stopped. Time slowly stretched in his vision. He could see its claws rising in a swift movement. Reaching towards him.
He closes his eyes and lunges the syringe forward.
Then he hears a noise, a gunshot. Before he could open his eyes, he heard flesh flopping on the ground. He could hear the growling of the monster. He could hear distant sirens faintly.
He opens his eyes breathing heavily as he falls on his knees and looks at the contagion, being helpless on the ground.
"Who..?" He looks towards his right and then to the left and sees a blonde haired officer with a scar on her left eye. He squints his eyes as he sees a silver badge shining.
The sound from the surroundings echoed in his ears.
"raikun shiraishi, you're under arrest." Ameni states coldly.
Raikun's eyes widen as he looks up at her "are you fucking with me?" He looks at her in denial "what did I do?"
Ameni speaks "For selling unauthorized medicines and for the harassment of ken."
Raikun grits his teeth anger "harassment?" His hands shake. His thoughts scattered trying to make sense of it.
The officers surround him and he looks at them, with ice cold eyes.
Ameni ignored his words and let the other officers cuff him. Raikun tried to shake them off "what is wrong with you." He said with anger. Raikun faced down on the floor as they made him get up and took him to the police van forcefully.
The van started slowly down the street. Passerbys and the citizens of the dead strip stood on the streetsides looking at the van.
The air was heavy in the van. The awkward silence creeped up as ameni polishes her gun. Wiping the remnant gunpowder.
Ameni sat across him. Raikun asks quietly "what did ken say?" Raikun's voice was carried with anger. "He gave me the neurogate's pass to bypass it, what did I do-"
Ameni speaks in between and says "Look, we need you." She sighs "ken told me everything that happened." She gazes at raikun and proceeds "at akibara ruin."
"That bastard" he murmurs quietly. Ameni looks at him and speaks "watch what you say. He's an officer and so am I." Raikun looks at her and puts on a blank expression.
Ameni scoffs. Raikun proceeds to say "what do u need me for?" He pauses "is this all some game to yall?"
Ameni looks at raikun and smiles "well. We are willing to let you get out of prison, which you are going to." She says as she looks outside of the window, the desert sands smothering over the window.
"It's a rough place, yeah." She looks over at her gun as she rotates it. "I think it would be better if you work with us right?"
Raikun eyes widen for a second as grasps the situation. He thinks for a while.
"So what youre saying is, i get out of prison." He pauses with disbelief "thats it?" Ameni laughs and raikun looks at her in disbelief.
"Working with bcc has its perks, boy." She sighs "all u need to do is, tell us about the substance that contagions are made of." She averts her gaze to the window.
"Ken told me what YOU told him." She smiles "You know your stuff, thats for sure."
Raikun hardens his gaze "so?" He says with an hit of annoyance. "That snitch." He thinks to himself.
Ameni puts up a more serious tone and speaks with a heaviness her voice. "Most of the officers who have been..researching about it, have been killed." Ameni pauses "There have been too many casualties and i can't let it get any worse, we can't."
Raikun gazes at her and says "fine." He sighs "ill do it."
Ameni smiles and says "good." She speaks out loud "divert the route, head towards the bcc headquarters"
"Also the gun that ken gave me." He says "why did you make him give a fake?" He gazes at her with suspicioun.
The air hanged in between them, the silence stretching slowly.
