Chapter 7 - Happy birthday, Kitten.

Seraphine.

Now, ladies and gentlemen, I would love to do a brief… and very concise introduction.

Our girl, Saphyra was the villainous female lead in the story! The one hated by all and sundry due to her recklessness and overly pompous nature.

Even I as a reader, hated her, so why the fuck am I here as her? How the hell did I even get here?

Just as I mulled over these things, a flood of memories rushed into my head, memories belonging to someone that wasn't me but was the girl whose appearance I had suddenly taken.

It showed everything. Literally everything ranging from her toddler years up until about two days ago when she'd been walking with her said best friend, Eloise, through a beautiful garden. They played with butterflies and petals of flowers but just as Saphyra turned around to pick up a beautiful daffodil, a loud scream rang out, causing her to turn around and—

Bang.

That was the last thing she heard and felt before she fainted, and by the time her eyes flickered open moments later, she realized that she was covered in blood. So much blood.

A loud scream tore out of my lips as I fell to the floor, especially since the pain now tearing through my body had become too much to bear.

I writhed painfully on the floor, musing under my breath again and again; "Saphyra didn't kill her! Saphyra didn't kill her!" But the more I cried out, the less real it sounded to me.

Because if she didn't then who did?

Hell, I hadn't even read the actual book to the end to know the real culprit!

Even I used to think that Saphyra was responsible for Eloise's death because I had only read up to chapter ten. So what the fuck do I do now?

Most of all, how the hell do I leave this place?

I was snapped out of this thought when the distant sound of a door creaking open filled the quiet space. But for some reason, I was too weak to check who it was. I couldn't move my body or make a sound, and when the sound of heels hitting the floor filled my ears, I could only squeeze my eyes close.

"How long do you intend to lay there?" A sugary feminine voice called out, but still I didn't open my eyes. I didn't even move either.

"Do you think playing dead will get you out of this mess?" She continued in that soft sugary voice of hers that was beginning to grate on my nerves.

My eyes flickered open and when I saw her face, my breath hitched.

Why?

Because she was the most gorgeous woman I have ever seen!

And because she looks so ethereal, even I, a woman, found her insanely attractive.

"No." I hissed, after managing to catch my breath and to my utter dismay, she simply smirked, leaned down to brush my hair off my sweaty face and drawled;

"I am here to help you."

I froze.

"I could help lessen your sentence if you confess to the court tonight that you indeed murdered Eloise. Hell, I know it has always been your dream to leave this kingdom behind, so I could make the Alphas send you to exile…"

"And if I do not do that?" I asked with a shaky voice,

"Then be ready to take whatever they dish out." She hissed coldly, "…you killed their only sister and you should know what they would do to anyone who—"

"I know." I snapped, interrupting her and not missing the way her eyes thinned at me.

And then, I further shocked her by asking; "Who are you?"

I saw the surprise on her face before she quickly masked it, and then with a scoff, she snapped; "Labyrinth. It's me, labyrinth. Did you hit your head on a stone?"

"No." I hissed and with that, I shut my eyes one more time and turned away, pretending to sleep.

Now, I am sure as hell that a lot of you want to know who Labyrinth is in the story, and I would gladly tell you…

She is the heroine I was rooting for!

She was the leading character who was the very opposite of whatever Saphyra was. While Saphyra was pompous and loud, she was quiet and polite, and while Saphyra was lazy most of the time, she was extremely diligent and hardworking.

But on the downside, her father is the same as Saphyra's father. Meaning that he had cheated on his real wife, Saphyra's mother, abandoned her and her three kids, and moved in with his mistress who was Labyrinth's mother.

Do you understand it now or do I have to do a recap?

Of course, I wouldn't do a recap.

"You'll regret it if you do not listen to me," Labyrinth snickered, pulling me out of my trance. "And happy birthday, Omega!"

At her words, I froze.

My eyes widened in shock, well, mostly because I never even knew that it was my birthday— I mean Saphyra's birthday!

I tried to sit up but when the pain in my midriff intensified, I groaned and laid back down, closing my eyes. "Thank you." I said, not missing the chortling sound she made as soon as I said that.

Her reaction made me peel my eyes open and upon seeing the shock on her face, I frowned.

"Thank you, sister. You can go now." I said again, and this time, her face literally turned pale. She looked at me like I had gone mad before stumbling out of the room as if not quite believing her eyes.

And I know why she reacted that way.

It is because the real Saphyra would have never said the words; "thank you!"

A small smile tugged at the corners of my lips as I listened to her footfalls echoing down the corridor. However, that smile soon vanished when a burly looking man with sand and pepper blonde hair and a set of blue eyes so sharp, it bored into my soul, stepped into the room next. He cast me a dark glance and growled;

"Stand up."

I blinked. "I can't."

"Don't make me repeat that—"

"Don't make me repeat myself either!" I snapped, interrupting him. "You guys shot me with some kind of tranquilizer and now I can't feel my legs! How do you expect me to stand?!"

At my outburst, the man rolled his eyes at me— which was a stark contrast to the slap I had half expected him to gift me as a birthday present or something. He then leaned over to pick me up, carrying me like I didn't weigh more than a piece of paper and then walked out of the room.

I didn't see but felt him as he carried me to wherever the fuck it was that he was taking me, but just as we arrived in front of a large double door, I looked up at him and asked;

"Where are you taking me?"

For a moment, he didn't speak, and then he looked down to flash me the tiniest smile. Another shocker.

He whispered; "To the Alphas, kitten. Today, which is your nineteenth birthday, is also your trial."
