Chapter 8 - The Ship That Has Already Set Sail

Next, he pointed to the next character.

Raiden Mei

Identity: A student at Chiba Academy, daughter of Raiden Ryoma, President of ME Corp, and bearer of the dormant power of the Third Herrscher, the Herrscher of Thunder.

Personality: Gentle yet strong, understanding, highly skilled in cooking. She endures immense pain and loneliness due to her Herrscher powers, yearning for acceptance.

Abilities: Control over lightning; possesses devastating power when transformed into a Herrscher.

Mei's gaze fell on her own name and description. A hint of surprise flashed across her purple eyes before they deepened in thought. She quietly read the words: "Gentle yet strong," "endures pain and loneliness," "yearning for acceptance."

Then she looked at the outline of the purple-haired girl in Shinji's sketch beside it, her eyes reflecting both melancholy and resilience.

Unlike Kiana, Mei did not react boisterously. She merely tilted her head slightly, looking at Shinji, her voice soft yet clear:

"Shinji, you may use my likeness as you wish.

If… the 'Raiden Mei' in this story can give even a little warmth or strength to someone, it would be my honor."

She made no mention of copyright or conditions, granting permission calmly.

Kiana pouted beside her and muttered softly, "Mei, you're just too easy to talk to…"

Shinji nodded solemnly at Mei. "Thank you, Mei."

Then his finger moved to the third name, beside it a simpler sketch—a petite girl with spiral twin-drill curls and vacant, indifferent eyes.

A note read: "Childhood? Experimental subject?"

Bronya Zaychik (Childhood/Related Setting)

Identity: An assassin codenamed 'Silver Wolf of the Urals,' initially connected to Project Bunny.

Status: Emotionless, a 'weapon' born for combat.

As the sketch and description appeared, the atmosphere in the office became noticeably tense. Bronya, who had been quietly in the corner, paused her writing.

Her lake-blue eyes fixed on the 'childhood' sketch and the cold description on the whiteboard. Her face remained expressionless. Mei let out a soft, "Eh?"

Her gaze flickered between the current Bronya and the little girl on the whiteboard, described as "lacking emotion" and a "weapon." Her purple eyes carried both curiosity and a subtle, unspoken pity.

Kiana leaned closer, intrigued. "Eh? That's Bronya too? Why does she look… weird? Like a little robot.

And 'Silver Wolf of the Urals'? That sounds so cool! But what does 'weapon' mean?"

Dan Heng's gaze shifted from the code to the whiteboard. He pushed up his glasses, looking thoughtful.

Hoshino and March 7th were even more bewildered, staring from Bronya to the whiteboard, clearly not understanding the situation.

Shinji could feel Bronya's gaze probing him, cold and sharp. He took a deep breath and explained:

"In the story of Honkai Impact 3rd, Bronya Zaychik has a complicated and heavy past.

This 'childhood' setting is the starting point of her character arc.

It's also the key to understanding why she becomes the Bronya who now seeks 'family' and longs for 'emotion.'

The stark contrast is meant to create depth and realism."

He looked at Bronya seriously.

"Of course, this is purely a fictional setting created for the story and has no bearing on the real Bronya.

But the growth and eventual salvation of Bronya in this story will be a crucial and moving part.

I need your understanding.

And… whether you allow me to use the name 'Bronya Zaychik' and reference some external characteristics?"

The office fell silent for a few seconds.

Bronya withdrew her gaze from the whiteboard and returned it to the screen. She was quiet for a moment. Just as Shinji thought she might refuse, she spoke calmly and firmly:

"You may."

Then, still without looking up, she added:

"'Silver Wolf of the Urals' is a good codename."

She did not question why the setting was designed this way, nor did she challenge the reasoning behind the contrast. She simply accepted this fictional story setting—completely different from her current state—with composure. She even gave the cold codename a subtle approval.

Mei wanted to say something but stopped, watching Bronya's quiet profile, finally letting out a soft sigh.

Kiana, however, didn't overthink it and clapped her hands.

"Alright, alright, the name issue is settled! So, what's next, Captain?

When can we play it? No, I mean—when do we start developing it?

This young lady can't wait to see how 'the brightest light' saves the world!"

Hoshino and March 7th snapped back to attention and excitedly joined in:

"We have the main cast! Are there going to be enemies?"

Dan Heng's calm voice interjected:

"Based on the framework you provided, Shinji, I need more specific technical metrics: estimated complexity of action modules, scenario interaction logic, management of real-time character data streams…"

The office instantly shifted from the tense, solemn atmosphere to a lively, buzzing one. Doubts were temporarily suppressed, replaced by curiosity and drive.

Shinji looked at his companions, who had immediately entered work mode. He knew the question about 'Childhood Bronya' was likely something Bronya herself hadn't fully let go of. But it might be the key to pushing the story forward—and helping everyone understand the project more deeply.

Now, the most important first step had been taken.

Shinji refocused everyone's attention.

"Good. Since the character authorization issue is preliminarily resolved, we will move into the actual combat preparation phase.

Dan Heng, here is the initial technical requirements list you requested…" He handed over a densely written sheet of paper.

"Kiana, Mei, here are the detailed character personality breakdowns and initial visual keywords. You must complete the concept sketches today."

"Hoshino, March 7th, stop just getting excited. Where is your market analysis? I want the first draft by noon!"

Tasks poured down like bullets, accompanied by racing heartbeats, along a gradually clearing path toward the future.

The road ahead was long, but the ship had already set sail.
