The atmosphere inside the Takami Ryokan was thick with a heavy, surreal tension as the two SUVs pulled into the gravel driveway simultaneously. The sliding doors of the inn creaked open, and Chika stood there, her face a mask of shock as she witnessed the sheer scale of the group.
Lanzhu stepped out of the second vehicle, her hair slightly disheveled from the flight, clutching a sleeping toddler to her chest. She looked exhausted, but her eyes sparked with that familiar, regal fire.
"Everyone, please," Chika whispered, ushering them in with a frantic wave. "The children are exhausted. Put them in my family's private quarters—they'll be safe and comfortable there."
The group moved like a silent, disciplined unit. Umi, Maki, Kotori, Ai, Kanata, and Lanzhu followed Chika down the hallway, laying their sleeping little ones onto the soft futons. The room was filled with the rhythmic breathing of children who had no idea their world was about to change.
Once the door was slid shut, Chika turned to the group, her voice trembling slightly. "We... we've stayed in touch with Nijigasaki, so we knew about Kureha-chan... we knew Kanata-san was raising her alone. But the rest of you..."
She looked at Ai and Lanzhu, her eyes wide with a mix of heartbreak and bewilderment. "We didn't know. We had no idea you two were carrying this secret too."
Ai gave a small, helpless smile, rubbing the back of her neck. The usual "energetic Ai-chan" was replaced by a woman who looked like she'd lived ten lives in the last three years. "Yeah... it wasn't exactly something I could put on a social media post, Chika-chi. My twins... their names are Shiro and Kuro. They're a handful, just like their dad used to be."
Lanzhu smoothed down her skirt, looking toward the door where her daughter lay. "And my daughter... her name is Meyrin," she added, her voice dropping into a rare, vulnerable tone. "I took her to Hong Kong to keep her away from the Japanese media... and to wait for him to find us. I didn't think I'd be finding him in a ryokan in Shizuoka because of a student council report."
Dia, who had been standing by the wall with her arms crossed, let out a sharp, pained breath. "So that makes... Aoi, Hime, Yuki, Kureha, Shiro, Kuro, and Meyrin. Seven children just between those of you standing here."
"And the Aqours children are in the next town over," Mari added, her voice cold as ice as she looked toward the stairs leading to Room 4. "Fourteen women. A small army of heirs. And he's upstairs sleeping like a 'panda' because he's 'tired' from his 90-minute train ride."
"He's not just sleeping," Umi said, her eyes narrowing as she adjusted her sleeve. "He's waiting for a reckoning he doesn't even understand yet. If he's truly the Agung from thirteen years ago, he has no idea how much weight those names—Shiro, Kuro, Meyrin—actually carry."
"Let's go," Eli said, her voice commanding and final. "It's time to wake him up."
