Thoughts
Beyond the vastness of time and space, beyond the incalculable scale of existence. One will find that the lives of the few do matter even when matched with another value of incalculable worth.
The universe can be seen as a blank page, each live a color and with the power to make a stroke. Now the length of such a stroke is left up to them but they can make an impact.
A 100, 1000....millions. One cannot say that such strokes are truly meaningless and without value. Even as you scale it up thousands of times, that logic persists.
But, there are individuals within these that are more than capable of ripping that very page. They are....anomalies.
Snow, white and pure. A common fact used to have become a representation of purity, of beauty and its traits of heightened cold adds further to its reputation. Currently however, it is nothing for than a bed for soaking up the destruction wrought above it.
Destruction was being brought and not in it's name, not with its permission and certainly not of its own making. No, it was this planet inhabitants. Fighting among themselves, commanding an array of weapons that scorched the very soil. Rocks were blasted from their positions, terrain burned from explosions.
Years of work, of evolution, of natural survival made irrelevant by this very moment. A moment that would barely be noticed in comparison to the time of existence this place had experienced.
Formations of droids pushed through the snow, their feet clamping down upon the soft spaced snow and compressing it with each second. Their ranks were numerous, spanning a width of 5 strong and a length of more than a dozen. They were flanked by similar formations spread across and past the mountain ranges which help emplaced tank companies set to provide indirect mass fire.
Their numbers drowned the blue ionized beams that burned through their flimsy armor, it was pointless. After 2 weeks, they had finally received reinforcements with their fleet breaching the atmosphere and their drop ships escaping the clutches of their enemies fighters. Thousands strong supplemented their ranks and though nothing but the most basic of units, it would prove enough, it had to.
The current general on ground, Lermin Hash had caught the ill will of the Count after his failure in uprooting the now established republic forces when they had newly arrived. Worse yet was that his policy of total destruction of the natives if caught aiding the Republic forces simply resulted in mass resistance against him.
So much so that he had been cut off from his outer regiments and now risked not only his main HQ but also the primary production hub of B2 battle droids for this entire sector. In truth, if he was only allowed to deploy even a fraction of them then this war would be won but the Count will not risk a delay in their delivery towards other fronts. He had begged for at least a regiment, to supplement his personal guard and further protect the factory but he was refused.
The Count claims further that he could not be trusted with the, after his initial loss of the main force set to control this planet. A point that he still refused to believe was his fault, the main storage hub was raided by Republic dogs and ended with an explosion that triggered an earthquake which cost him. There was little he could do.
But it was all fine, he was finally pushing them back with his numbers and soon, he would breakthrough to the secondary communications hub that was used to further coordinate the forces on this planet. He just hoped the tactical droids had stuck to their primary directives and not tried anything foolish.
" Sir, the vanguard have preached the main defensive perimeter of the Republic. We slaughter them by the minute." A droid reported as it detached it concentration from the interface it was attached to.
"Good, deploy formation 02 Alpha. They are to continue the onward push towards the secondary communications hub. Divide the remaining vanguard units and have them divert into the surrounding areas to clear any remaining forces and secure the area. " He commanded with authority, sitting upon his chair in the main command room.
A hologram had been brought up to show the current real time situations, updated through primary information received from probe droids sent across the battle field.
Sensory imagery was difficult especially with the incoming storm which was projected to make it even worse. It was one of the reasons he was being so aggressive as he wished to use this opportunity to the utmost best.
Most Republic soldiers were organic and they wouldn't be able to easily resist his assault, even if the storm took half his soldiers, it would be fine. They could simply be replaced and he would have more than enough to deal with them.
" Sir, incoming report from sectors A primary - 13 to 16. " Another droid spoke up.
He remembered that zone clearly since it had been the one that broke through first and allowed subsequent breakthroughs on the Republic side. It was how they ambushed his forces, spreading out from there like ants. Worse yet, he had and still has to dedicate a significant amount droid force towards that area.
" Report " He said, already imagining the headache that would come. Most likely, they would try to push there again in order to pressure him and relieve pressure on the other side for their forces.
" Republic units have been spotted retreating, we aren't sure if its a mass retreat but the on site tactical droid believes they are trying to do it without being noticed. " The droid reported.
"...What did you say?" He asked astonished, why would they retreat? Especially in a position that had been so heavily contested for the past month, it would simply be wasting the efforts and resources diverted into that position.
"Uh...I didn't say anything sir, that was the reported delivered by the onsite tactical droid " The B1 said in defense.
Hash wanted to hit the droid in frustration and would have if he had not grown used to them. These droids had been with him for months now and he hadn't had the opportunity for any routine maintenance, he did request a site to be built here but the upper ranks had been worried about...costs.
" Stupid droid, has that report been confirmed? " He said in annoyance before refocusing his thoughts.
" It has been and the tactical droid believes that they are most likely trying to reinforce their other positions with their forces. He advises a distracting push to stop that and tie their forces in their current position. " The droid reported as it read the message it had received.
