Chapter 6 - The Syndicate Moves

Agon was dome that didn't appear in the public registry like every other dome, and it wasn't close to any dome that had civilization within it.

The only people that were aware of this place were the members of the High Syndicate and they were meant to keep this place a secret to the outer world as well.

Inside the dome there were chambers where the members would every few months or when something that required their attention had come up.

The chamber was circular and the table was circular and the chairs around it were identical, which was the one concession to the idea that everyone present was equal, though everyone present understood that this was a fiction maintained for the sake of order.

There was already a man at the head of the table despite there being not being an official head of the table, they were all looking towards one man.

He was known as the High Emperor, this title wasn't something you could earn by being simply born but you had to be handpicked by the members of the High Syndicate themselves, and this has been going on for decades.

Around the table there were seven High Elders who each had their own domain of where the Syndicate could reach.

Everyone sat quietly in the room as the tension between them was getting thicker.

The emperor is visibly not happy as one would be able to tell with his eyes despite showing a calm to demeanor towards everyone in the room.

''Alexander Ceaser III'' One of the elders mentions the name and the men in the room just listen to him and it echoes through the room. ''Part of the sovereign council in Hemithea, and was appointed six weeks ago.''

''I know who he is.'' The emperor comments calmly, and even though he wasn't being reactionary everyone could sense the tense nature of the emperor.

''My Great Emperor,'' The elder speaks with respect in his tone, ''I'm afraid to mention that Daniel has learned about something he shouldn't have known about. About the history and coming of the current life on earth.''

No one answers him and everyone waits for the emperor to respond but he doesn't, he just stands up and walks away towards the only window in the room.

It's a regular size window that's big enough for to see what's going on outside the room but not big enough for someone outside to know what's inside.

He quietly looks outside while holding his hands behind his back, and he scoffs a little.

''How could this happen your greatness?!'' An elder gets up in rage and slams the table. ''How did the secrets that we've kept for hundreds of years just be exposed to someone as small and frail as Alexander?''

''You dare slam my table?'' The emperor quietly turns around, ''What has my table done to deserve such treatment?''

''Forgive me your grace, I just can't imagine how this infuriates you.''

''There's nothing infuriating about this, I'm not infuriated at all.'' He responds in a cool and calm voice. ''I'm actually relieved.''

Everyone looks at him confused when he mentioned he was relieved.

Who could possibly be relieved at a situation like this?

''What Ceaser has found has only shown me what's come to light...'' He paused then slowly turns around to look at the other six elders, ''That someone in this room wants to take place as the High Emperor.''

The reaction of everyone in the room gets them tense and they start looking at each other while questioning what the emperor just said and why he would say such.

''What do you mean great emperor?'' One of them gains the courage to finally ask.

''You all understood fully what I mean, and I don't care who it is because I'll give you exactly what you.'' The emperor says calmly while starring at each and every one of them. ''Whoever manages to bring me the head of Alexander Ceaser III without causing problems for the Syndicate will be the one to get my position as High Emperor. I will willingly step down for said person out of my position.''

Everyone in the room shocked by the sudden news but also didn't have the courage to ask questions about it, their silence told the emperor everything he needed to know. That his hunch was a accurate that one of the people leaked the information to Alexander's in attempts to take his position.

You all will lead yourself to a road of nothing but war and death. And I'm it's so unfortunate that I won't be there to see it play out for myself.

As the elders leave the towards their ships, each with two guards on each side they walk calmly. One of the elders who goes by stands next to another addressing him.

"I must say the Emperor surprised me with that challenge he set out of us. With the prize being his position makes it more intriguing I have to say."

"This doesn't surprise me one bit, someone like him didn't become emperor by being predictable. And i suspect there's more at work here but we'll only figure out the rest of it as we go against each other in finding out what it is."

"You sound fairly excited for this."

The Elder doesn't respond but walks off towards his ship with his guards next to him as he gets on the other elders are already on flying out of Agon.

Daniel gets home and the whole day he's been concerned for situation at home because everyone at home has been acting weird. His father waking up at random hours at night while also barely sleeping at night and this also caused an affect on Daniel because he can feel somethings wrong and it's been giving him anxiety too.
