Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

Beep...

The sounds of the carrier echoes in the background as it flying high above the clouds.

Beep...

Five hours since their departure. Traveling above the god forsaken earth where even an inhale could turn you into a monster and killed you.

"Miss winter. We're about to arrive at the location in ten minutes..." Said the pilot through her comms.

"Understood." Her voice cold and direct. Her gears brushing off the seat as she walking toward the closed entrance at the rear.

Beep...

"Reporting to the HQ, we're about to arrive at designated location in approximately ten minutes. Waiting for permission to engage." The pilot speaking to his comms.

"Affirmative, you're permitted to do so." Someone from the other end replied.

"Understood, initiating operation snowflake." The pilot pressed the button to open the back door.

She's standing there, feeling the strong wind begin to pulling her out. She take a step forward and look over her shoulder toward the cockpit.

"Make sure to get away immediately." She said before jumping off into the open sky.

The pilot close the door and increasing their speed to get away immediately.

"Miss Clara has been dropped. Retreating to safe location." The pilot report to the HQ.

The sounds of the wind were deafening, her head goes first as she falls. Despite her situation however, her expression remain flat and calm.

Slowly, as she's reaching the right altitude, ice begin to form on her skin, layer by layer until it becomes solid and thick with her trapped inside.

Then she begin to dissolve into the ice that rapidly expanding inside the shell.

In a blink of an eye, as she hit the ground and make the first layer crack, the stored energy begin to move outward violently, but instead of heat, she produce chill, the explosion caused her surrounding to freeze and solidify instantly, purifying the air and also killing all the infected in fifty kilometers radius.

"Mission accomplished, retrieving miss winter now." The pilot reported as he turn the carrier toward where she hit the ground.

She begin to gather the fragments of her body, the ice particles gathering in one place and slowly taking a form of her. All her clothes gone from the process, she simply wrap the snow around her body to cover herself up.

She sat there, on the crater she created and waiting for the carrier to pick her up.

The carrier slowly descending and landed on the frozen ground. The two pilots rushing toward her location with a pair of clothes and a warm blanket.

"Brr, it's so cold... I'll stay inside and called for others." Said one of the pilot as he return to the carrier.

The air is clean although a bit cold, no trace of any infection lingered.

"As expected from the Holder." He mumbles as he turn and saw her already dressed.

"Thank you for your hard work, miss winter. Should we get back to base now?" He suggested with friendly smile.

She answered with a nod and walking back to the carrier, leaving the frozen ground to the rest of the teams later.

As she return to the base, she immediately went straight to her dorm and lay down on her bed and staring blankly at the ceiling.

The burn scar on her left face itching, the mark of her past, a very scar her brother, inflicted on her due to misunderstanding.

Knock, knock.

She rose up from the bed and open the door.

"... Sister." She whispered.

"Good job on the mission Clara. Can I enter?" She asked with a smile while patting her head.

Clara step aside, giving her sister a way and sitting together at the bed.

They're sitting there for a while, as her sister proceed with the treatment to melt the accumulating ice inside her body.

She's holding her hand and let the warmth to seeps through her body, replacing the cold and making it bearable.

"There...how you feels?" She asked softly without letting go of her hand.

"... Better." Clara replied with a small nod.

"Good, now take some rest, you've been using enough energy for today. Listen to your sister and don't be like your pushover brother." She said as she stand up and walking toward the door.

"Sis." She started. "Is brother really died?" The question hang in the air, making her hand freeze by the doorhandle.

"...Yes. I can no longer feeling the connection between us from him. Besides, he died as a hero, so don't worry about it." She assured with a kind smile and finally leave the room.

Clara remain seated on the bed until she finall lie down and wrap herself with the blanket.
