Chapter 251 - Chapter 250: Star War

"First Dawn Fleet. All captains, heed my command."

Paul's voice resonated through the psychic tether, echoing on the bridge of every single ship.

"Combat protocols, engaged."

"Target: Dal orbital defense grid. Every station, every ship, every armed platform."

"Rules of engagement: Total annihilation. Leave no survivors."

"Inform the Dawn Defense Force to prep for planetfall. The war has begun."

The moment the order was given, the entire armada awoke like a slumbering leviathan.

The five cruisers...

Light of Dawn, Will of Daybreak, Crimson Conviction, Unyielding Crusade, and Glory of Hope...

They simultaneously adjusted their pitch and yaw, angling their armored prows directly at the targets.

The thick ablative armor plating along their broadsides slid back, revealing rows upon rows of bristling weapon batteries.

Macro-cannon arrays, lance turrets, torpedo tubes...

These five cruisers were absolute masterworks purchased directly from the System shop, and their mounted arsenals were strictly top-tier. Right now, every barrel and lens gleamed with cold, lethal intent.

The fifteen Sword-class frigates scattered like a wolf pack, flanking hard to port and starboard to completely seal off any potential escape vectors for the Dal vessels.

The eighty-six transports slowly throttled back, forming a tight defensive sphere behind the cruiser battleline.

Their armor was paper-thin, but the half a million Dawn Defense Force soldiers strapped into their drop pods were the true core of this campaign.

The Dal had clearly not expected this silent, looming fleet to instantly pivot into a full-scale combat posture.

The warning lights on the primary space station flashed with frantic urgency, betraying the utter chaos erupting inside.

The twenty-odd ships moored to the docks initiated clumsy, panicked undocking sequences, their thrusters choking out sickly green plasma wakes.

Their maneuvers were sluggish; their turning efficiency, abysmal.

"Weapon locks confirmed."

"Macro-batteries charged: 87%... 92%... 100%."

"Lance arrays, cooling systems optimal, power flow stable."

"Torpedo bays loaded and primed."

The status reports ringing out across the bridge were clipped and hyper-efficient.

Paul stood unmoving before the viewport.

His gaze swept over the enemy formation. In a fraction of a second, his Wisdom trait modeled and simulated one thousand four hundred different firing solutions.

"Spiking enemy energy signatures... the primary station is raising shields."

Schrödinger Bro stared intently at the auspex feed. "It's not void shield tech. The energy signature is primitive. Most likely a native, self-developed deflector field."

"Can it tank a macro-cannon round?" Tax Bro asked.

"Theoretically? It might take one or two."

"But with our rate of fire..."

He didn't need to finish the sentence.

Because Paul had already raised his hand.

"Light of Dawn, main macro-batteries. Target: the primary orbital station."

"Crimson Conviction, Unyielding Crusade, focus your broadside lances on the enemy flagship—the largest vessel on their port flank."

"Will of Daybreak, Glory of Hope, suppress all defensive fire from the auxiliary platforms."

"Frigate squadrons, free engagement. Hunt down any ships breaking off from the docks."

The orders were crystal clear, the division of labor flawless.

"Open fire."

When the first macro-round detonated from the Light of Dawn's prow, the entire bridge seemed to fall deathly silent for a microsecond.

It was a physical, solid-slug projectile...

A dense alloy warhead, twelve meters in diameter and weighing eight hundred tons, magnetically accelerated to three percent the speed of light. Its casing was intricately etched with psychic runes to stabilize its trajectory in the vacuum.

It left the barrel in absolute silence.

But a tenth of a second later, the very fabric of space along its flight path visibly distorted—the sheer physical consequence of mass being violently accelerated to its absolute limit.

The energy shield enveloping the Dal space station flared to life. It was a pale yellow, semi-transparent membrane that flashed violently the instant the macro-round made contact.

BOOM!!!

Even in the dead vacuum of space, the catastrophic release of energy washed over the fleet's sensors via waves of violent particle radiation.

The shield held for exactly 0.7 seconds.

Then, it popped like a soap bubble.

Without a shred of resistance, the macro-round punched straight through the station's outer metallic armor, burrowed deep into its internal superstructure, and detonated right against the core support pillar.

This particular warhead was packed with a high-yield antimatter payload. It ignited inside the station with a blinding flash that outshone the local star.

A heartbeat later, the massive, hexagonal space station was violently ripped apart from the inside out.

Armor plating was shredded into confetti. Internal piping and power cables flailed out into the void like dying, severed tentacles. The shockwave mercilessly tore the straggling ships right off the docking arms, sending them violently tumbling into the abyss.

The second wave of strikes followed immediately.

The broadside lance batteries of the Crimson Conviction and the Unyielding Crusade opened fire simultaneously. Dozens of high-energy laser beams converged on the largest Dal warship.

Under the searing lance strikes, the warship's outer hull rapidly carbonized and vaporized, exposing the tangled iron superstructure beneath.

The Dal vessel attempted to pivot, but its maneuvering was far too sluggish. The lance beams surgically sliced right through its thrusters.

Its dark green plasma wake spiraled out of control. The Dal warship began to violently spin, crashing hard into a smaller vessel that had just detached from the docking arm.

The barrage from the Will of Daybreak and the Glory of Hope was far more methodical.

Their lance batteries fired in precise, one-second intervals. Every single shot flawlessly pinpointed a weapon platform, sensor array, or power node on the space station's surface.

The Dal retaliation was scattered and chaotic. The few plasma or laser blasts fired from their turrets were mostly intercepted mid-flight by point-defense lances. The handful that actually struck the cruisers' void shields did nothing more than trigger a faint ripple of light.

Meanwhile, the hunting efficiency of the fifteen escort frigates put the Crimson Dawn Fleet's grueling training on full display.

Operating in packs of three, they formed five distinct tactical squads, flanking and encircling the fleeing or counter-attacking Dal ships like a pack of starving wolves.

"Sword-3, Sword-7, Sword-11, crossfire. Target the enemy engines."

"Sword-5, Sword-9, Sword-14, suppressive fire. Scramble their targeting locks."

"Torpedo tubes, full spread... fire!"

Compact torpedoes surged from the launch tubes, trailing brilliant blue wakes as they dove toward their marks.

The Dal ships scrambled to intercept with point-defense cannons, but their accuracy was painfully abysmal, often burning through dozens of plasma rounds just to clip a single torpedo.

On the flip side, under the hyper-efficient operation of the Dawn Fleet crews, the interception rate against incoming enemy fire hovered at a staggering 87 percent.

Over in the Regional Chat, player comments were flooding the screen.

[How Many Floors Can You Carry a Sack of Rice]: "Holy shit! The graphics! The special effects! I'm mind-blown!"

[You Ashe I Soraka]: "Fuck me, Mom, I'm literally fighting in a Star War right now. I can die happy."

[Optimus Lemme Pilot You Real Hard]: "Son, I am so proud of you."

[Have You Been Loyal Today?]: "Listen up, rookies. This is what absolute tactical discipline looks like. The firing cycles of all five cruisers are perfectly staggered. Not a single shot was wasted."

[Execute Old Man the War Criminal]: "The Dal tactical acumen is virtually zero. Their formation is a mess, and their counterattacks have zero rhythm."

[Paradox Players Aren't War Criminals]: "It's a complete tech gap. Their energy weapons output less than a third of ours, their shield tech is outdated, and the gap in ship maneuverability is night and day."

[The Imperium's Last Gambler]: "I'm betting the ground war is gonna be a completely different beast, though. With a barbaric species like this, the urban warfare is going to be brutally savage."
