Chapter 47 - Chapter 47: Reliance

Chapter 47: Reliance

It was also a declaration that their god had returned, and the price was likely... tomorrow would be very busy.

Mo Bai let out a breath.

The sound of the carriage wheels continued to advance.

Inside the carriage, Shadow One reported in a low voice about the layout Shadow Two and Pupil Two had established in Suotuo City: purchasing the main residence of a local Family and setting up five shops distributed across the north, south, east, west, and center of Suotuo City.

Arranging personnel to infiltrate Spirit Hall and the Great Spirit Arena was still in the initial stages; they were only at the bottom level, so one could not hold too high expectations, but it could barely be considered a foundation.

Mo Bai nodded, but suddenly a rich scent of roses drifted past his nose, and the clear, noisy sounds from outside the carriage reached his ears, along with the coquettish voices of one or two women.

"Young Master Dai, walk slowly~"

Roses? Young Master Dai?

Mo Bai's mind stirred as the original plot flashed through his memory: the place where Dai Mubai and Tang San had their first conflict and also formed their friendship, the Rose Hotel.

"Do you need to buy it, Young Lord?"

Ever since Mo Bai had covered his eyes, Shadow One's gaze had never left him. Seeing his slight pause, he asked proactively.

"Hmm... buy it," Mo Bai nodded and said.

It wouldn't cost much money anyway, and since it was a place where plot events occurred in the original story, it had value.

As for Dai Mubai? He would go see him once his eyes had adjusted.

It probably wouldn't take much effort, and it wasn't just Dai Mubai; Ma Hongjun and Oscar were the same.

Tang San was different because of his resistance from the Purple Demon Eye.

But these three had no way to resist him.

Just lambs waiting to be slaughtered...

Outside the carriage, Dai Mubai, with his heterochromatic eyes and golden hair, glanced sideways at the carriage passing not far in front of him.

In the mere instant the carriage passed by, through the window, he noticed a fleeting, stunningly beautiful profile inside.

Gentle, cute, and also the cold type.

Who is this? Playing even wilder than him?

Dai Mubai's gaze was somewhat unfocused, and when he looked at the two women by his side who were well-versed in the ways of the world, a hint of disdain flashed in his eyes.

He didn't know what had happened recently; fewer people were coming out, and more were turning over a new leaf. Even though he was a Soul Elder, he could only find such mediocre goods.

It didn't make sense. Originally, those villagers were easy to deceive, but now they were almost all uninterested in him.

Did they not want their descendants to become Soul Masters?

Dai Mubai couldn't figure it out.

But at least he still had money and could find people.

Whereas Ma Hongjun had no money and no looks; even if he offered over one silver coin, it was hard to find anyone, and the quality was uneven.

Thinking of this, Dai Mubai's heart calmed slightly, but his gaze still looked toward the direction the carriage had left, his eyes deep in thought.

There were no major Families in Suotuo City. The strongest were only Soul Saints, and the few that existed were mostly at Shrek Academy. With his status as a prince of the Star Luo Empire, he was arrogant enough to look down on the whole city.

To have so many beauties, perhaps they were like-minded people?

He could "communicate" more in the future.

Dai Mubai nodded, glanced at the direction the carriage had left, a meaningful smile curling the corners of his lips, and walked toward Shrek Academy with the two women beside him.

The carriage continued forward, driving to a luxurious courtyard in the center of the city before slowly coming to a stop.

Assisted by Ah Yin and Xiao Wu, Mo Bai stepped off the carriage and raised his head. Although he couldn't see the appearance of the building in front of him, the wind was blocked.

At the very least, it showed the scale was not small.

The money spent was likely not small, but money was just money; it was meant to be used, and he couldn't mistreat himself, no matter who else he mistreated.

According to Shadow One, the necessary arrangements had been made. Each woman had her own room, and he had specifically asked Shadow Two and Pupil Two to prepare a study room exclusively for Xiao Wu.

It contained almost all the books available on the market, enough for Xiao Wu to build a good foundation and study well.

"So big!"

Xiao Wu looked up in surprise, her pink eyes gazing at the courtyard in front of her. The scale alone was even larger than Notting Academy. Was this really just a place for a few people to live? It was so wasteful, and...

She always had an ominous premonition in her heart, but she didn't know where this ominous feeling was coming from.

Before she could figure it out, she heard Mo Bai say softly in her ear, "Let's go."

Mo Bai and Ah Yin took the first steps.

Xiao Wu finally came back to her senses and followed belatedly, appearing to assist him but actually holding onto the corner of Mo Bai's clothes, looking around as they entered the courtyard.

Meanwhile, Shadow One had already hidden back in the shadows to protect them.

On the other side, at that small-city-level Spirit Hall that had received the tip-off.

The deacon had just driven away a commoner who had reported a cult member. Looking at the pile of similar reports recorded in his hand, the person who had just reported was not the first, but seemed to be the last.

Although they didn't specifically mention anything useful, there was a name—True God Cult.

"True God Cult? Just some strange things again."

The deacon grumbled, stuffed the information in front of him into an envelope, and submitted it as a routine report.

This was just like a normal Martial Soul Awakening report; it was hard to attract the attention of the higher-ups, and he didn't take it to heart.

The next day, the second day after arriving in Suotuo City.

Under Mo Bai's arrangement, Xiao Wu threw herself into her study without a moment's rest, beginning a new round of learning.

Mo Bai was not idle either; every moment, he was responding to the prayers of the True believers.

The True God Eye mark on his forehead was throbbing with heat.

Beside him, Ah Yin served Mo Bai's daily life as a maid, and the moon mark on her forehead was also glowing brightly.

It wasn't until noon that Mo Bai got a moment to breathe.

His thoughts couldn't help but turn to Xiao Wu. This was the time when he could be liberated, but he inexplicably felt that Xiao Wu's progress had slowed down. Was it because she had encountered the final Bottleneck in the resurrection prayer ritual?

Had she lost motivation?

If that was the case... that wouldn't do.

Or was I too capitalistic?

Then... should I consider giving some sweet treats?

Or just give nothing at all?

Mo Bai pondered in his heart while enjoying Ah Yin massaging his forehead.

But before he had relaxed for more than a few seconds, another wave of believers' prayers came, scattering his thoughts.

His mind sank, and his consciousness left again, following the threads of faith.

When his consciousness returned, the fresh scent of vegetation in the air was mixed with a faint smell of carrots.

Mo Bai spoke up and called out, "Xiao Wu."

"Here!"

Xiao Wu's response came immediately to his ears. Seemingly to prevent his reprimand, she quickly explained, "I wasn't slacking off, it's... it's... just that the study is too big, I'm not used to it, so I wanted to stay by Mo Bai's... side... I also brought over the things I need to study."

Xiao Wu lifted the books in her hand and the large pile of books beside her, but suddenly remembering that Mo Bai couldn't see for the time being, she paused, her tone a bit anxious, "Really! Sister A Yin can testify."

Before Ah Yin could stop what she was doing to testify for Xiao Wu, Mo Bai smiled and said, "Don't worry, Xiao Wu, I believe you. Just don't be so flustered in the future. Come whenever you want, do whatever you're most used to."

Hearing this, Xiao Wu breathed a sigh of relief. Do whatever I'm used to?

Her small face flushed slightly. Holding the books, she moved step by step to Mo Bai's side. After smelling that familiar scent.

Her heart settled down. She glanced sideways at Mo Bai's profile, the corners of her lips lifting slightly, and then her mind returned to the books in her hands.

But after a few seconds, she felt a pair of warm hands covering the top of her head, and at the same time, Mo Bai's gentle words reached her, "Xiao Wu, you are my most important Reliance, so I'm counting on you."

Xiao Wu's face turned even redder, "Mm~"
