Chapter 30: A Scam?
In the past, Mo Bai's guards were always hidden in the shadows, like Shadow One and that Soul King, but now they stood openly behind him.
Below, Mo Bai and Ah Yin appeared in the cafeteria, attracting a multitude of gazes. Students who passed by him all nodded happily and greeted him: "Greetings, Young Master Mo!"
Mo Bai raised his hand to respond to each of them. Seeming to sense Tang San's gaze from the second floor, he tilted his head slightly, smiled, and then walked quickly toward the second-floor cafeteria.
"Young Lord!" After Mo Bai arrived, Wang Sheng bowed respectfully, and the other Work-Study Students followed suit to greet him.
Seeing that Young Master Mo was clearly here to find Tang San, everyone finished their greetings and found reasons to leave. After all, their duty had been fulfilled, and continuing to stay would only be detrimental to their master's subsequent plans.
"Tang San, Xiao Wu, you're both here. No wonder I couldn't find you."
Mo Bai looked at Xiao Wu, who was studying hard, and smiled.
"Who is this?" Tang San did not pay attention to the departure of the Work-Study Students; instead, he kept his gaze firmly locked on Ah Yin. This woman gave off an inexplicable sense of familiarity, yet also a hint of strangeness.
Ah Yin also cast her gaze upon the face of the black-haired little boy, Tang San, before her. There was an inexplicable sense of familiarity, though it was far less profound than what she felt for the Young Lord, and it was somewhat interesting.
Ah Yin recalled this and smiled gently.
Mo Bai noticed the two of them looking at each other out of the corner of his eye, but he was not worried at all. Ah Yin's memories had been buried by him; unless she encountered someone she knew or her identity was directly pointed out, it would be very difficult for them to be awakened.
Moreover, Ah Yin had never seen the grown-up Tang San. Tang Hao was dead, Tang Xiao was at the Clear Sky Sect, and the people from the Spirit Hall who had hunted them down were not here either. He had absolutely no worries about her memories awakening.
Even if they did awaken, her body could not resist him.
"Just in time, Little San, let me introduce you," Mo Bai spoke at the right moment, pointing to Ah Yin. "Ah Yin, my future dedicated support system Soul Master. Also, just like you, Ah Yin has the Innate full soul power Blue Silver Grass Martial Soul."
"Innate full soul power Blue Silver Grass?!" Tang San's pupils constricted. He remembered that his teacher had told him about this that day.
A weak Martial Soul like Blue Silver Grass could not possibly have Innate full soul power, according to one of his teacher's Ten Core Competencies of Martial Souls, which stated that the level of Innate Soul Power is directly proportional to the quality of the Martial Soul.
There was only one possibility for Innate full soul power: Twin Martial Souls!
If that were the case, did Mo Bai already know the fact that he was also a Twin Martial Souls user?
"What's wrong, Little San?" Mo Bai feigned confusion.
"Brother Mo Bai, did you know about this long ago?"
Tang San let out a slight, bitter laugh.
"Know what?" Mo Bai's expression was slightly dazed, but his eyes were shimmering with brilliance. If Tang San exposed the fact that he had Twin Martial Souls here, there was no doubt that the level of trust between the two of them would rise to another level!
Tang San noticed Mo Bai's purely puzzled expression, and his breath hitched slightly. Could it be that things were not as he thought?
Thinking this, he repeated the argument his teacher had made at the academy gate about how very few among millions of Blue Silver Grass users had Soul Power, but he did not mention his teacher's conclusion at the end.
Mo Bai listened and nodded in agreement.
"Hmm, that makes sense, but the person who said that must have never seen a true high-level Soul Beast, right?"
As soon as these words were spoken, Tang San's expression stiffened slightly. High-level Soul Beast? His teacher couldn't even defeat a 300-year-old Datura Snake; perhaps he really hadn't seen a high-level Soul Beast?
Seeing Tang San's expression, Mo Bai sighed lightly and said helplessly: "Blue Silver Grass is also a plant. Being a plant, it is possible for it to become a Soul Beast on this continent. The longer it lives, the more it is a symbol of a powerful Soul Beast, as you know."
Tang San nodded slightly. Martial Souls were born from things one came into contact with or from Bloodline mutations, but what did this have to do with anything?
Mo Bai's explanatory words continued to come.
"Although Blue Silver Grass is weak, it has an Emperor among its kind! It's just that because the base number of Blue Silver Grass is so large, when distributed across the people of the Douluo Continent, this is how it manifests.
However, a Blue Silver Grass Martial Soul with Innate full soul power does exist! What kind of strange theories are those? Look at you and Ah Yin; aren't you the proof?"
"I..." Tang San's expression stiffened, then he offered a smile tinged with bitterness. His Innate full soul power was something he had obtained by cultivating the Mysterious Heaven Skill.
And the Soul Beast theory Brother Mo Bai spoke of seemed to be the true common knowledge of the continent; the more he learned, the clearer he became about this.
Soul Beasts could increase their own cultivation with age.
Calculating it this way, even for Blue Silver Grass, it was indeed highly possible for one to be born with Innate full soul power.
But if that were the case, his teacher's theory... His face became somewhat ugly. Could it be that his Twin Martial Souls had been tricked out of him by his teacher back then?
Thinking back on it, that really seemed to be the case.
"There is one point, though, that you might not know, Little San." Mo Bai gently pinched his chin and said slowly, "Within the Blue Silver Grass clan, there is an Emperor, so other Blue Silver Grass Martial Souls with Innate full soul power shouldn't be of the Imperial Bloodline, but rather the secondary Royal Bloodline."
"To be honest, when I first heard that you also had Innate full soul power Blue Silver Grass, I was shocked. After all, Ah Yin was already at my home, so there was some 'conflict'."
"Originally, I didn't quite understand, but when Ah Yin came yesterday and told me about this, I realized that your Blue Silver Grass is of the Royal Bloodline."
"Royal Bloodline? There's such a thing?"
"But..."
Tang San felt even more bitter inside. His Innate full soul power was something he had cultivated, and his Blue Silver Grass was likely just an ordinary Blue Silver Grass.
No wonder Ah Yin gave off an inexplicable sense of familiarity; was this the natural attraction or suppression of the Imperial level toward its subjects?
But if I really were the Royal Bloodline Brother Mo Bai spoke of, how good that would be. Ah Yin had an extraordinary bearing; presumably, her Soul Power was not low either.
However, it was better not to delve too deeply into the Martial Soul aspect, lest he release his Martial Soul and this Ah Yin before him sense something amiss, exposing the fact that he had Twin Martial Souls.
Even for Brother Mo Bai, it was not yet the right time.
Tang San recalled the words Mo Bai had just used to introduce Ah Yin: "support system Soul Master". They didn't need to fight here, so what would they need a support system Soul Master for?
Thinking of this, he hurriedly changed the subject and asked Mo Bai about the doubt in his heart:
"Brother Mo Bai, you said Sister Ah Yin is a support system Soul Master? Why is that?"
Sister? Mo Bai smiled inwardly, but on the surface, his little face fell: "You know, Tang San, my eye Martial Soul basically has no combat evolution capability; it's very, very weak.
So, my Family assigned me a healing-type support Soul Master to facilitate quick recovery after I train my body, so I can continue training."
"I should have started training my body six months ago, but it kept getting delayed until now."
Tang San blinked and nodded in agreement again. The eye Martial Soul indeed didn't have high combat power; it was necessary to learn some means of escape and self-defense, and training the body was the most significant and effective method.
So Blue Silver Grass was a healing-type support system Soul Master?
"But that's just a side benefit," Mo Bai said, his expression showing a hint of hesitation. He then looked straight at Tang San with eyes filled with trust. "But since it is you, Little San, and because you also have Innate full soul power Blue Silver Grass, you are qualified to know about this. Perhaps it is because of you, Little San, that this matter came about."
"Me?" Tang San pointed at himself, his breathing inexplicably becoming a bit rapid. These words Brother Mo Bai was saying clearly revealed the precursor to a major event!
Besides, did Brother Mo Bai trust me this much? And I...
A trace of shame flashed through Tang San's heart.
"You've heard of the Goddess of the Moon before, right?"
