Chapter 11: The Eye Letters
"Who is Yu Xiaogang? You have a letter."
Early in the morning, Yu Xiaogang received a letter from an unknown source. Glancing at the envelope, he saw it was stamped with what looked like an eye logo. He opened it, but the origin remained unknown.
However, the signature was Liu Erlong.
How did Erlong know he was here?
Yu Xiaogang frowned. Even Flender didn't know about this; he hadn't told anyone. The only ones who knew were Spirit Hall and the dean of Nuoding Academy.
The content of the letter consisted of some trivial words of concern, somewhat resembling Liu Erlong's way of speaking—careful yet inherently bold. Whose... prank was this?
Yu Xiaogang was certain the letter was a fake. His first reaction was to think of Mo Bai. He couldn't help but cold snort, tearing the envelope into pieces and discarding them casually before turning back into the house.
However, on almost the same day at Shrek Academy in Suotuo City, a letter also appeared on Flender's desk. The sender was still listed as Yu Xiaogang, but this time the content was much more specific.
Crucially, it mentioned the words Innate Full Spirit Power.
"So he took in such a Genius. No wonder he wrote to me. Is he trying to show off?"
Flender adjusted his glasses, the corners of his mouth curling upward. He hadn't heard the address Boss Fu in a long time.
He also wrote a letter and sent it to the vague address mentioned in the correspondence. He didn't suspect anything; an inaccurate address simply meant it wasn't time for the two of them to meet yet.
It wasn't just Flender. Far away in Heaven Dou City, Liu Erlong of the Blue Tyrant Academy received a letter signed by Yu Xiaogang, also bearing the eye-like logo.
Just the three words Yu Xiaogang were enough for her to check it with joy. The content was about Yu Xiaogang's recent True life and the fact that he had taken a Disciple.
She didn't know why Yu Xiaogang was sending these letters, but she hoped it was a sign of reconciliation.
Holding onto her fantasies, Liu Erlong wrote a letter to the vague address recorded in the correspondence.
Not writing it clearly meant the time to meet hadn't come yet. Since she finally had news after so much effort, she couldn't afford to be impatient.
The next day, in Nuoding City.
Yu Xiaogang received another letter, still signed by Liu Erlong. This time, it contained more specific news, such as founding an academy in Heaven Dou City and recruiting commoner Spirit Masters.
It also included a motto: "There are no trash Martial Souls, only trash Soul Masters."
Yu Xiaogang looked at it a few more times. He hesitated slightly when tearing it up. He had heard rumors of these circumstances, but...
It still felt too surreal.
On the third day, it was the same.
Liu Erlong's letter contained some nostalgic words.
But on the fourth day, a change occurred. A letter arrived from Yu Tianheng, his nephew, who was also hailed as one of the most promising generation of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Sect.
He expressed confusion over Yu Xiaogang's departure without saying goodbye and tried to persuade him to return. Yu Xiaogang hesitated for a long time and sighed. It was boring, yet he didn't tear the envelope this time, instead pressing it under the bookshelf.
On the fifth day, there was another letter from Yu Tianheng, talking about his current situation, his Soul Power Rank at the Heaven Dou Royal Academy, and various achievements as the top student.
Yu Xiaogang hadn't paid attention to these matters for a long time. As for the title of number one, he thought, "The Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Sect should be thus!"
After that day, the sender became Flender.
Yu Xiaogang had a strange illusion, feeling as if everyone knew his current location.
Could it be that his location had been leaked?
Yu Xiaogang looked at the content of the letter. It was Flender boasting about the Shrek Academy he had opened, how many Genius Disciples they had recruited this term, and inviting him to teach.
Yu Xiaogang hesitated for a long time but still didn't tear it up.
Over the next month, the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan sent a letter every now and then, Shrek sent one every three to five days, and Liu Erlong basically sent one every day—so many that he couldn't tell what was True or false.
Most of the letters were describing their current situations.
There were even so many letters that Tang San had seen them. However, seeing Yu Xiaogang's pensive expression, he didn't take the initiative to ask. But once, he saw the words Innate Full Spirit Power in an unopened letter and picked it up out of curiosity.
It was a letter from someone named Flender in Suotuo City. The Shrek Academy he founded had recruited an Innate Full Spirit Power food system Genius Soul Master.
Seeing Innate Full Spirit Power, Tang San couldn't help but ask, but he only received an uncertain answer from Yu Xiaogang.
But at the mention of Innate Full Spirit Power, Yu Xiaogang fixed his gaze on Tang San, who also possessed Innate Full Spirit Power.
Yu Xiaogang sighed softly, planning to send a letter back to the address on the envelope. Since Little San would have to leave Nuoding City sooner or later anyway, he might as well confirm it now.
It was a bit early, but not too late.
However, as soon as Yu Xiaogang's letter left Nuoding City, it was intercepted by a dark shadow. After confirming the contents, the shadow returned to Nuoding City to report to Mo Bai.
"Finally, he sent a letter!"
Mo Bai breathed a sigh of relief. What was his greatest advantage? Naturally, it was his level of understanding regarding various events, people's current statuses, and their locations.
He had directly sent letters to Flender and Liu Erlong in Yu Xiaogang's name, revealing only a general address. After receiving their replies, he would embellish them before sending them back to Yu Xiaogang.
During this period, eight out of ten letters were fake and two were real. Truth and lies were intertwined. Whether it was Yu Xiaogang, Flender, or Liu Erlong, they all thought the other party had sent the first letter.
He then replied based on the actual life situations of the three. As long as they each had replies from one another, the originally fake connection would become real.
Now the hardest step—Yu Xiaogang's reply—had been achieved. In the future, once all three were certain of each other's identities, someone would bring up the organization behind the Eye Letters.
Then, he would have room to maneuver.
As long as he took the initiative to manipulate one person's letter in response, nine-tenths of the work would be considered done.
The final step was to find an opportunity to say the organization belonged to his Family, and then, amidst Yu Xiaogang's skeptical gaze, pull out the content of the three's correspondence as evidence.
If Yu Xiaogang didn't believe him, could he really disbelieve the letters from Flender and Liu Erlong?
Even if this organization were suspected, through long-term correspondence, trust would be subtly accepted. An organization centered on information perfectly met his requirements.
At the same time, he would indirectly gain the trust of Flender and Liu Erlong through Yu Xiaogang. He didn't know their current level of manifestation for now, but it was just something done in passing.
If it's useful, great; if not, it's no big deal.
Mo Bai's lips curled slightly.
It wouldn't take much longer.
Not long after, Flender in Suotuo City and Liu Erlong in Heaven Dou City respectively received Yu Xiaogang's genuine replies, though the content had been slightly modified.
What Yu Xiaogang shared with Flender was the success of his theoretical experiments, applying beast-type spirit rings to plant-system Spirits.
"This guy, he still loves his research as much as ever." Flender smiled helplessly and picked up his pen to reply again.
As for what Yu Xiaogang sent to Liu Erlong, it was some exchange about daily life, devoid of any real substance.
However, in the Blue Tyrant Academy, Liu Erlong held the letter to her chest, as if she could feel that familiar aura, and murmured contentedly, "Xiaogang."
It took a long while before she picked up her pen to reply.
This continued for another whole month. Mo Bai didn't even need to modify or add many letters; the frequency of the three's correspondence did not decrease, and it was no less than when he was faking them.
During this time, the letter markings were mentioned by Yu Xiaogang. After all, he was the first to receive the letters and had never revealed any information himself, yet Flender and Liu Erlong knew his address, so he asked very curiously.
Regarding this question, Mo Bai intervened again, changing the questions into declarative statements. For example, "What does the eye-marked letter mean?" was changed to "The speed of the Eye Letters is very fast," and so on.
When Flender and the others turned to ask about the Eye Letters, he similarly changed their questions into declarations.
After a few letters, as the Eye Letters were discussed more, the three developed an impression of an organization that was discreet, fast, accurate, a Soul Master Family, and possessed certain intelligence-gathering capabilities.
"Not bad, time to set the hook."
