"C-C-Conrad!"She muttered as she groggily opened her eyes.
When Nina opened her eyes, her head was pounding like a drum.Hana and Peter, Mr Williams, were hovering around her with worried faces.Nina was lying on 'their bed', currently Conrad's alone.
"Where's Conrad?"Even in that condition Nina could only think of Conrad.
"My dear,you need to rest.You had a long day and it's just mid-day!"Hana reached her hand gently rubbed her.This tender moment reminded Nina of the times she had a mother.Her mother had been the greatest gift in her life but life took her away.
Conrad had left the house the moment Nina fainted.He was.... really cold.He had always been like that before her...he never used to care.He had fallen in love with her desperately that he had changed so many things about him.... just for her.
Lying painfully on that bed,Nina's mind replayed their happy moments everywhere in that room and for a moment,she could hear her laughters all around the room.The thought of everything added Nina some energy to fight for the rest of the day.She decided to figure out the problem with her husband. In that case she decided it was time she paid a visit to the doctor.
"Mr Conrad had a serious head injury that led him into a coma. It was a miracle that he finally made it.He made it....b-but he couldn't come back with his health perfectly fine. Mr Conrad lost some of his memories.He can't remember some part of his life."This report replayed on Nina's mind until she found herself back to the house.She was broken by the hurting truth. Nina had only seen such things happen in movies but now she had a reality show for herself.
When she got home, she went for Conrad in 'their room'.
"Oh my God what happened to the room!"Nina was shocked by appearance of the room.Everything was changed from the lights to the bedsheets.... everything.Nina approached the young man sitting on a couch near the bed.He appeared more calm and relaxed this time.
"How could you do this to our room.We had agreed that no gaming in the room but since you forgot...I mean you can't remember anything with me.Infact I don't get all this, how can this possibly happen to me of all the people in this damned world!"Nina decided to pour out the poison that was inside her after getting the chance.She then lost it and words started spilling like a tap...she couldn't stop.Then the handsome man didn't even react to her behaviour,he just sat there going through his new phone.
Looking at his statue expression Nina was surprised,he was behaving just like 'her Conrad'.He used to be like that...he never argued back."Are you done?"His gentle voice echoed through the room as he turned his gaze towards her.Nina didn't understand why but his voice gentle sent goosebumps down her spine.His gaze though different...it was soft and intentionally intense.This made Nina to stop thinking for a moment.His brown piercing eyes locked in hers, he decided to stalk closer to her and this in a intentional charming way.This move left Nina's mouth shut and her face amazed.His straight posture infront her increased her breathing rate.He then leaned into her, their lips inches apart...but their eyes proved the tension between them.For a moment Nina wanted to jump into his arms and satisfy her cravings for days but this was not her husband.
She finally managed to rescue herself from the lingering gaze by shaking her head to banish those tempting thoughts."You and I need to talk"She said as she made steps to the couch showing the seriousness of the situation.The handsome man obeyed as he turned his beautiful eyes to the couch and innocently sat while rubbing his hair making Nina impressed... again. It was not fair that life had taken Conrad's memories of her away but it was very unfair that the new Conrad had been endowed with a strange stunning beauty,so Nina thought.
"We fell in love Conrad...you fell in love with me.After one year of dating you asked me to marry you and I did.We got married infront of everyone Conrad then you took me home and this became our room.We were happy together.We did so many things together over the years. Me and you....we are soulmates Conrad"He looked at her keenly the cleared his throat making Nina turn her gaze to him."You don't look like an opportunist to me!What do you want beautiful girl?"He gently asked her with an exaggerated soft voice making. In that moment Nina thought how his strange behaviour made him hard to look away fro
"You had an accident and ended up in a coma.You woke up today but you had l-lost your memory.You don't remember some part of your life....which is me.You don't remember me but am not going to give up...I will not give up on you!"She said this as she walked to the drawer and grabbed some papers."This is our marriage certificate and this is us... married and happy."
Conrad looked at the papers and surprisingly,he didn't react to them....he just stared at them with an exaggerated calmness.Nina could not tell what he was thinking.Did he remember her? This question became the loudest in her mind.He parted his lips to say something.... something hopeful according to Nina."You...you can't tell me that I did all this and I don't remember any of it!"The corners of his mouth curled into a charming smirk that appeared cruel to Nina.He then gently moved closer to her and whispered,"I need you out of my room!"This whisper was cold, serious and real at the same time.Nina could not believe what he had just said,she actually expected some understanding from him.
"You can't do this to me Conrad!Am your wife look at me my love! Look at this picture...me and you"Nina broke in tears while trying to reach for his handsome face then for some reasons she trailed off.None of this moved him too after all the old Conrad had girls fight and cry for him.Conrad just stared at Nina's broken face with a beautiful stare that Nina would not tell if it was pity or amazement.Conrad stare turned suprised and with a serious smile he asked,"How much money did my parents pay you to play this pitiful role?"This words crushed Nina's heart once... again.Nina could not say anything but walk out of the room in painful silence.Leaving that room was like ripping off a bandage.This had been their room for years and now she had to leave it as a stranger and funny enough...she had been chased away from it.
This painful moment took her direct to the living room.She couldn't imagine being a stranger to her own husband.How can a person's mind digest this thought?What was she going to do about it?The night was creeping in as Nina sat on the living room wondering the kind of fate she had just encountered.Suddenly someone knocked on the door.
"Mary,get the door!"She ordered vaguely going back to her thinking world.After a minute the door bell rang again making Nina to get it herself.
Her eyes met with a familiar face after opening the door.Nina's heart sank ,her eyes on the unexpected guest....the past she had thought buried, now standing on her doorstep...Rael.
