Chapter 14 - Void dance

Night settled quietly over the academy.

The dormitory corridors were calm, illuminated only by a few dim lanterns fixed along the stone walls. Outside, a cool wind brushed against the tall academy towers, making the banners hanging from them sway slowly.

Inside his small room, Feyi sat on the edge of his bed.

The events of the day replayed again and again in his mind.

The ranking board.

The laughter.

The humiliation.

The way the instructor had pointed at him and thrown him out of class.

The whispers about the Voidless Clan.

His fingers slowly tightened.

For a moment, anger flickered in his chest.

But then he took a slow breath and calmed himself.

Anger alone would change nothing.

If he wanted answers…

If he wanted people to stop laughing…

If he wanted to understand why everyone reacted with fear when they heard the name of his clan…

Then he needed power.

Quietly, Feyi closed his eyes and focused.

A faint ripple passed through the air around him.

He activated his ability.

Self-Fragment.

A single strand of his hair slowly lifted from his head, floating gently in the air as if pulled by an invisible thread.

The strand twisted.

Expanded.

Unfolded.

The thin hair slowly stretched wider and longer, growing like living thread weaving itself together.

Within seconds, it began shaping into something human.

Arms.

Legs.

A torso.

A face.

Then—

standing directly in front of him—

was another Feyi.

A perfect copy.

Same face.

Same posture.

Same calm eyes.

The only difference was the faint ghost-like shimmer around the body.

The Self-Fragment stood silently.

Feyi leaned forward and examined it carefully.

It looked real.

Almost too real.

But there was something strange about its presence.

It felt hollow.

Like a shadow pretending to be human.

Still, the ability fascinated him.

"Interesting," he murmured.

Then he decided to test something.

He sent a mental command.

Turn invisible.

For a moment nothing happened.

Then suddenly—

the clone shimmered.

And disappeared.

Feyi blinked in surprise.

"…What?"

His eyes widened slightly.

He knew he himself could turn invisible with his power.

But he had not expected the Self-Fragment to also use that ability.

"That's unexpected…"

His curiosity grew stronger.

However, he remembered the weakness of the fragment.

The clone was intangible.

It could pass through objects like smoke.

But it could not attack.

It could not touch anything.

It could not pick up objects.

In other words, it was completely useless in combat.

Still…

That didn't make it worthless.

In fact, it made it perfect for something else.

Feyi sent another command.

Move.

The invisible fragment began walking slowly around the room.

Then suddenly—

something strange happened.

Feyi's vision split.

Two images appeared inside his mind.

The first vision showed the Self-Fragment looking back at him while moving.

The second vision showed what Feyi himself was seeing.

For a moment his brain struggled to process the two perspectives.

But after several seconds, he slowly adjusted.

He leaned forward slightly.

"So I can see through its eyes…"

The second vision showed his reflection in the small mirror on the wall.

A teenage boy.

Lean body.

Pale but firm physique.

Dark hair falling around calm eyes.

Feyi watched the clone watching him.

Two viewpoints.

Two pairs of eyes.

But only one mind controlling both.

A slow smile appeared on his face.

"…Now I have a spy."

He leaned back comfortably on the bed.

"So what if I can't attend combat classes?"

"I can still gather information."

His mind began racing with possibilities.

He could spy on instructors.

Observe powerful techniques.

Watch other aspirants train.

Learn secrets no one intended him to see.

All without anyone noticing.

He began testing the fragment.

He ordered it to jump.

It jumped.

Spin.

It spun.

Pass through the wall.

It floated through the stone like mist.

Feyi chuckled quietly.

"This is actually fun."

After several minutes of experimenting, he folded his arms and stared at the invisible clone.

"Hmm."

"You need a name."

The fragment slowly turned its head toward him.

Even though it couldn't speak, its expression seemed filled with silent disdain.

As if it were saying—

I refuse to be named by someone like you.

Feyi narrowed his eyes.

"…Did you just look at me like that?"

The fragment remained silent.

Of course it couldn't talk.

It could only stare.

Feyi scratched his head thoughtfully.

"Well, too bad."

"If you're going to work for me, you need a name."

He thought for a moment.

Then he snapped his fingers.

"I've got it."

A mischievous grin appeared on his face.

"Your name is…"

He pointed at the invisible figure dramatically.

"Voidy."

The fragment froze.

If it had emotions, it would probably have felt deeply insulted.

Feyi nodded proudly.

"Perfect."

"Simple."

"Memorable."

"Voidy."

The fragment continued staring at him with what looked like pure disappointment.

"Don't complain," Feyi said casually.

"You're lucky I didn't name you something worse."

Then he waved his hand.

"Alright, Voidy."

"Time to work."

He gave the fragment another command.

Go spy.

The invisible clone slipped silently through the dormitory wall and into the academy corridors.

Feyi followed through its vision.

The two perspectives returned again.

Walking through the corridor, the fragment passed several groups of aspirants.

No one noticed it.

It was completely invisible.

Feyi listened carefully to their conversations.

Unfortunately…

Most of them were useless.

Two students whispered nervously.

"I heard some creatures in the Realm are the size of buildings."

Another replied,

"I hope we never meet those."

Further ahead, another group was gossiping.

"Did you see that guy yesterday?"

"The one claiming he's from the Voidless Clan?"

"Yeah."

"That idiot."

Someone laughed loudly.

"He got beaten so badly."

Another student mocked,

"Maybe the Void abandoned him."

Feyi's expression remained calm, but his eyes darkened slightly.

He ordered Voidy to keep moving.

Further down the corridor, another group of aspirants discussed their trials.

"Stick together."

"Don't wander alone."

"Find a teleport gate quickly."

Again…

Nothing useful.

Feyi sighed softly.

"Useless."

He directed Voidy deeper into the academy building.

Soon the fragment reached another classroom.

Inside, several students were training under an instructor.

Glowing energy flickered around their hands.

Some formed blades.

Others formed spears.

A few attempted shields.

Feyi immediately recognized the technique.

Power shaping.

The ability to shape spiritual energy into weapons.

Only a few aspirants could manage it.

The instructor spoke sternly.

"Focus your energy."

"Shape it."

"Stabilize it."

Many students failed repeatedly.

Their energy weapons collapsed seconds after forming.

One student in particular struggled badly.

Every time he formed a weapon, it shattered instantly.

The instructor sighed in frustration.

"This skill is worthless if you cannot practice it properly."

The student lowered his head in shame.

The instructor continued harshly.

"If you cannot use it, there is no reason for it to remain here."

Then suddenly—

he threw a book across the room.

The book slid across the floor and stopped near the wall.

Through Voidy's eyes, Feyi read the title.

Void Dance.

His interest immediately rose.

The student being scolded wore a different uniform.

Feyi noticed something important.

That student was not an aspirant.

He was an initiate.

Meaning he had already passed the first stage.

Yet even he struggled with some techniques.

The instructor ignored the book and continued teaching.

Feyi made a decision.

He ordered Voidy to return.

Moments later, the fragment slipped back into his room.

The dual vision ended.

Feyi stood up immediately.

He grabbed his coat and quietly left the room.

The dormitory corridor was nearly empty.

He walked calmly through the academy hallways until he reached the classroom Voidy had shown him.

The class had ended.

The room was silent.

He stepped inside.

The book still lay on the floor where it had been thrown.

Feyi walked over and picked it up.

He examined the cover.

Void Dance.

A faint smile appeared on his face.

"Good skills…"

He brushed the dust off the book.

"…shouldn't go to waste."

Then he tucked the book under his arm and quietly returned to his room.

Back inside, he sat on the bed and opened the first page.

His eyes slowly scanned the text.

And for the first time since arriving at the academy—

Feyi felt genuine excitement.

Because this forgotten skill…

might be the first step toward unlocking the true power of the Void.
