Chapter 227 - Chapter 226: Is Just Too Funny, Isn't It?

The main characters have been mostly introduced, and the key players have all made their appearances. The main plot continues to unfold.

During lunch, Nagisa Furukawa learned that the male protagonist had gotten into school because of his basketball skills. She then asked him out to play basketball after school.

"Don't let my clumsy appearance fool you," Nagisa said with a smile. "I'm actually surprisingly athletic."

The male protagonist didn't actually agree.

Because he had a shoulder injury, he could no longer play basketball.

That afternoon, a torrential rain began to pour from the sky.

At this moment, the male protagonist breathed a sigh of relief. It's raining this hard; there's no way we can play basketball, right?

He figured that since it was raining, he could skip the date without it being a problem, and it wouldn't hurt Nagisa's feelings.

At least, that's what Kawasaki Toshihiko thought.

It had to be said that although the male protagonist, Tomoya Okazaki, seemed like a delinquent student—always slacking off, playing pranks, and showing up late to school—he actually possessed a surprisingly delicate heart.

Just as school let out, the game presented a choice:

[ Go straight home ][ Go check the basketball court ]

Seeing this, Kawasaki Toshihiko's heart sank.

No way...

Giving him a choice like this at a time like this was a blatant hint that Nagisa Furukawa was still waiting at the basketball court.

Damn it...

It was obvious the scriptwriter was trying to mess with him.

But still...

The thought of Nagisa's petite frame shivering in the pouring rain tugged at his heartstrings.

So, Kawasaki Toshihiko chose to go check the basketball court.

Sure enough, she was still there, waiting in the rain.

She was soaked to the bone.

He had to admit, Hayao Miyazaki's depiction of the rainy day and the splashes on the ground was truly masterful, creating a remarkable sense of depth and texture.

Moreover, the wet clothes clinging to her body were depicted as both fragile and strong.

Upon seeing the male protagonist, Nagisa Furukawa couldn't help but smile with relief.

Is this guy an idiot?

Is there something wrong with his brain?

The male protagonist and Kawasaki Toshihiko had similar reactions.

Since he had already promised to meet, the male protagonist still played basketball with her. However, the moment he tried to shoot, the ball slipped from his hand.

"Sorry."

"I got into a fight with my father in my third year of middle school, which resulted in a shoulder injury. Since that day, I haven't been able to lift my right arm."

"Ah! How could this happen..." Nagisa Furukawa was clearly stunned and heartbroken.

At this moment, the scene was filled with the sound of rain.

The two of them looked at each other in silence.

Because she had waited for the male protagonist in the rain for a long time, and because Nagisa Furukawa's own constitution was relatively weak, she fainted under these circumstances.

Kawasaki Toshihiko couldn't help but curse:

"Hey! This guy's body is so weak, yet she still pushes herself so hard."

Fortunately, after being taken home, Nagisa recovered well. She had a pair of adorable, kind, and slightly goofy parents who were delighted to learn their daughter had made a new friend like Tomoya Okazaki.

Maybe that's why she's always talking about anpan, Kawasaki Toshihiko thought. Because her family runs a bakery.

The day ended on a positive note.

The next day, Tomoya offered to help Nagisa restart the Drama Club. Before she fell ill, Nagisa had joined the club, but it had disbanded due to a lack of members. To bring it back to life, they needed to recruit enough new members.

And so, they tried every means possible to find potential recruits.

Their first attempt was with Tomoyo Sakagami. Though she was incredibly strong and eager to join, she was simply too busy.

With that in mind, Tomoya and his best friend Sunohara decided to approach Ryo Fujibayashi from their class.

Ryo looks like she'd be easy to talk to, Tomoya thought.

The only problem was her older sister, Kyou Fujibayashi, who was always by her side—overbearing, fierce, and fiercely protective.

So, Tomoya Okazaki said to Sunohara, "Ask Ryo to meet you alone. Tell her someone wants to confess to her. Her sister won't be able to tag along then, right?"

Yeah, that's a good idea.

Sunohara got to work immediately.

He successfully lured Ryo to the rooftop.

Tomoya placed a hand on Nagisa Furukawa's shoulder and gently pushed her forward.

"She's the one who wanted to see you."

"Eh?!"

Ryo Fujibayashi was completely stunned. She never expected it would be a girl.

"Hello," Nagisa said, quickly seizing the opportunity. "I'm Nagisa Furukawa from Class 3-B. I'm sorry for calling you here so suddenly."

"Hello, I'm Ryo Fujibayashi from Class 3-D." Though surprised to find it was a girl, Ryo still responded with her usual politeness.

"You're the Class Representative, aren't you?"

"Um, yes." Ryo was a little overwhelmed by the attention.

"That's amazing. I could never do that. I've always admired you," Nagisa exclaimed.

"No, it's nothing," Ryo Fujibayashi said, waving her hand, her cheeks flushing crimson.

Seeing this, Nagisa Furukawa quickly took the opportunity to invite her. "I have something to tell you. Could you please listen to me?"

The direct approach startled Ryo, who immediately snapped to attention. "Yes!"

Tomoya, standing nearby, chimed in. "She's very serious about this. If you can, please respond to her with the same sincerity."

"Please wait a moment."

Ryo felt the current situation was already exceeding her cognitive and emotional limits. She took two steps back and said gently, "I just never imagined it would be a girl."

Her good buddy Sunohara, standing beside her with his hands on his hips, offered encouragement. "Isn't it a matter of the heart's warmth rather than gender?"

"You occasionally say a few nice words, don't you?" Tomoya and Sunohara toasted each other.

Nagisa asked Ryo with some confusion, "Is it strange that I'm a girl?"

"No," Ryo replied, though she felt a mix of resistance and reluctance. Still, she offered a sincere compliment. "Furukawa-san, you're very cute."

"But..." Ryo Fujibayashi replied, her voice tinged with nervousness and embarrassment. "Between you and me, how should I put this?"

Hahaha.

Kawasaki Toshihiko was laughing so hard his stomach hurt.

These two are on completely different wavelengths, aren't they?

This is too funny.

And both Ryo and Nagisa are just too gentle, aren't they?

The most despicable person in all of this is the instigator, Tomoya Okazaki.

Still, without his prank, he probably wouldn't be witnessing such an interesting conversation.

He had to admit, the scriptwriter was a real genius.

While Ryo Fujibayashi hesitated, Nagisa Furukawa mustered her courage and took a step forward. "I've been struggling with this, but I've decided to be brave."

Ryo Fujibayashi flinched.

It wasn't just because the other person was a girl; more importantly, she was stunned by the unwavering resolve in Nagisa Furukawa's eyes and the courage she was showing in this moment.

"So you've been struggling with this all along."

At that moment, a gust of wind blew past, lifting the hair of both girls.

Kawasaki Toshihiko felt a surge of excitement.

"Please listen to me," Nagisa Furukawa said, launching a direct assault.

"I understand. I'll listen carefully."

"Please, I'm begging you..." Nagisa pleaded, "Help me rebuild the Drama Club!"

"Okay."

Ryo Fujibayashi replied without a second thought.

A second passed. "Huh?"

Only then did she realize what she'd said.

Hahaha, this is too funny.

Kawasaki Toshihiko, watching from in front of the screen, laughed so hard his stomach hurt.

How should he describe it?

At the very beginning, the game felt a bit overly dramatic, with a heavy, oppressive atmosphere. Combined with the male protagonist's own tragic past and dysfunctional family, Kawasaki Toshihiko had been under the impression that this was going to be a tear-jerker.

But as the story unfolded, the atmosphere clearly shifted to something lighthearted and cheerful. Whether it was Tomoya Okazaki or Nagisa Furukawa, they were all making good friends.

And the people around them were all kind and lovely.

The game's plot could be described as warm, lighthearted, and pleasant.

The characters in the game are all super cute. There's the gentle and kind Class Representative; Sunohara, the somewhat dim-witted best friend; Tomoyo, whose combat skills are off the charts and who Sunohara always mistakes for a guy; and...

Later in the game, Kawasaki Toshihiko meets a girl named Fuko.

When the male protagonist first finds her, she's in the classroom, carving stars with a rather dull carving knife.

Out of good intentions, Okazaki Tomoya confiscates her knife.

Fuko gets really angry and demands he give it back.

When the protagonist asks her what she's carving those for, Fuko hugs the wooden stars to her chest and says with a dreamy look, "This is a gift for my sister. If I carve enough starfish, everyone will be able to attend my sister's wedding."

Starfish?

You call this a starfish?

Kawasaki Toshihiko thought to himself, Another airheaded girl.

At the mere thought of her sister's wedding, Fuko falls into a daze, completely lost in her own world.

"But using a dull knife like that will get you hurt. Look, your hand is already injured," Okazaki Tomoya says, refusing to return the knife.

"It's not," Fuko argues.

Okazaki Tomoya gently pinches her palm.

"Ouch~"

A second later, "It doesn't hurt at all."

"Give me back my carving tool."

"Let's high-five then," Tomoya Okazaki said.

"Why do we have to high-five?"

"Just to celebrate our success."

"Alright."

Fuko made a thump-thump sound with her mouth, mimicking a basketball being dribbled, and then used her right hand to act out a layup.

She's just too cute.

The male protagonist couldn't help but comment, Is she starting from here?

Dribble, layup, score—"Oh yeah!"

Fuko and Tomoya high-fived hard. Immediately after, she clutched her hand in pain and crouched on the ground.

"See, I told you it wouldn't work, didn't I?"

Hahaha... how could this girl be so cute?

Kawasaki Toshihiko couldn't stop laughing.

What was even more shocking was that he had already recognized the voice actress for this character: the Queen of Voice Acting herself, Megumi Hayashibara.

Ah~ Can such a cool and aloof voice actually be used for such a dorky and cute character?

Cherish Megumi Hayashibara while you can.

She won't be able to voice such dorky and cute characters in the future.

According to Aoki Haruhi's thoughts, Ah~ To think that someone with such a cold voice could actually voice a character as dorky as Fuko Ibuki.

Imagine how it would feel if Ai Haibara suddenly turned into a super cute and silly girl.

It would be so incredibly cute.

The game seemed simple enough, but playing it made time fly by.

Before he knew it, it was already past midnight.

After returning to Japan, Kawasaki had been paying close attention to his health and well-being. So, he shut down his computer and went to bed, planning to continue the next day.

Fortunately, Kawasaki was currently on vacation, so he had plenty of time to devote to the game.

The next morning, after eating breakfast and washing up, he sat back down in front of the TV and resumed playing CLANNAD.

He had to admit, Fuko was absolutely adorable.

Although the game described her as an eighteen-year-old girl, she always gave off the impression of a child. It seemed that Tomoya Okazaki and Nagisa Furukawa were raising her like their own daughter.

Whenever she was asked about carving starfish or who her older sister was, she would fall into a state of endless bliss, apparently imagining how happy she would be to receive everyone's blessings and gifts at her sister's wedding.

Seeing her eyes closed in sheer rapture, Tomoya couldn't resist the urge to tease her.

Several options appeared on the screen:

[ Make her drink juice through her nose ][ Put her somewhere ][ Switch the person she's talking to ][ Switch the starfish she's holding ]

The "drinking juice through her nose" thing had already been done once before. Kawasaki Toshihiko still remembered the sight of this guy making her drink milk through her nose, and the milk then flowing out of it.

It was both adorable and hilarious.

Otherwise, this time...

Kawasaki chose to swap the person being spoken to.

So, Tomoya Okazaki called the Class Representative, Ryo Fujibayashi, over.

Ryo: "Um... is there something I can help you with?"

Tomoya: "When this person wakes up, I want you to tell her, [ I'm Okazaki, I just turned into a woman. ]"

Pfft...

Kawasaki Toshihiko almost spat out his mouthful of beer.

This is too funny!

Turning into a woman? Seriously?

"Eh? Um, what's going on?" Ryo asked, confused.

Tomoya said, "I want this person to understand just how dense she really is."

To convince the gentle Class Representative, Tomoya added, "This is for her own good. You're basically saving her, okay?"

"Oh, um, well, I guess that's fine."

"Also, if she asks you what's happening, just tell her, [ It falls off sometimes. ]"

Tomoya instructed again, "If she asks anything else, just give her a few random answers like, [ I guess so. ] Alright, I'm counting on you."

Reading this, Kawasaki Toshihiko was already laughing, able to foresee exactly what was about to happen.

What followed was an absolutely divine conversation.

Fuko finally snapped out of her trance. "Whoa... What were we talking about?"

Just then, she noticed the person in front of her wasn't Tomoya Okazaki.

"Where did Tomoya go?"

Following Tomoya's instructions, Ryo replied earnestly, "I am Tomoya. I just turned into a woman."

"Eh?!" Fuko was stunned. "Why did Tomoya turn into a woman?!"

"Um... Sometimes, sometimes it just falls off."

"Whoa! That thing falls off?!" Wait, how could a sentence be so shocking?

Fuko found this completely unacceptable.

"I guess so," Ryo continued, just as Tomoya had told her to.

"Nani?! 'I guess so'? It falls off that easily?" Fuko exclaimed. "Fuko never knew such people existed in this world!"

"Do men really have people who fall off that easily?"

"So, conversely, can it happen to Fuko too?"

"I guess so," Ryo replied, following Tomoya's instructions.

"Ah! Fuko is completely confused now! This is too much of a shock!"

Hahaha...

One was daring enough to say it, and the other was daring enough to believe it.

God, this pair of airheaded girls is just too funny.

Especially Fuko—she truly made Kawasaki Toshihiko's heart swell with affection.

If they don't switch back soon, Fuko's going to have a mental breakdown.

Just then, Okazaki Tomoya appeared right in front of her.

"Whoa! There are two Tomoyas!"

Before she could even process it, Fujibayashi Ryo's twin sister, Kyou, burst onto the scene.

"You bastard! Tomoya, are you bullying my sister again?!"

Kyou lunged forward, ready to tear Tomoya to shreds.

Beside them, Fuko was on the verge of a complete meltdown. "Ah! Oh my god, there are three Tomoyas!"

Holy crap...

This is too funny!

Kawasaki Toshihiko rolled around on the floor in fits of laughter.

At that moment, Kawasaki Toshihiko was completely oblivious to the fact that, although he had always been determined to conquer Nagisa Furukawa, he had already entered Fuko's route.
