Chapter 92 - Chapter 92: The Line You Must Walk

The moment Edrin understood—

Everything changed.

Not the boundary.

Not the space.

Not the world itself.

But the way it fit together.

"…You're not in the way," Edrin said quietly.

A pause.

"…You're where we're supposed to go."

The invisible line didn't move.

Didn't react.

But the path—

Shifted.

No longer curving away.

No longer trying to avoid it.

It aligned.

Directly.

With the boundary itself.

Ronan blinked.

"…You're kidding."

Edrin shook his head slowly.

"…No."

Lyra stepped closer, eyes focused.

"…The path isn't blocked."

Kael finished,

"…It is constrained."

Edrin exhaled.

"…Yeah."

A breath.

"…We don't go past it."

A pause.

"…We walk on it."

Silence.

Ronan smirked.

"That sounds like a terrible idea."

"…It probably is."

Edrin stepped forward.

Right up to the line—

Then carefully—

He shifted his weight.

Not pushing through.

Not stepping around.

But placing his foot—

Exactly where the boundary was.

For a split second—

Nothing happened.

Then—

It held.

Edrin froze.

"…Oh."

Lyra's eyes widened slightly.

"…It's supporting you."

Kael nodded.

"…The limit defines stability."

Ronan laughed.

"Of course it does."

Edrin let out a breath.

"…Okay."

A pause.

"…New rule."

Ronan groaned.

"Again?"

Edrin smirked faintly.

"…If something won't move…"

A breath.

"…Stand where it stands."

Lyra nodded.

"…That makes sense."

Ronan shrugged.

"Or fall off dramatically."

"…Also possible."

Edrin took another step—

Along the line.

Careful.

Precise.

The space beneath him—

Solid.

Unyielding.

For the first time—

The path didn't feel unstable.

It felt absolute.

"…That's new," he muttered.

Kael stepped beside him.

"…A defined boundary provides certainty."

Ronan followed.

"…I like this one better."

Lyra joined them last.

"…It requires balance."

Edrin glanced down.

"…Yeah."

Because now—

There was no wide path.

No space to wander.

Just a line.

Thin.

Exact.

Unforgiving.

Step too far to either side—

And there was nothing.

"…Okay," Edrin said. "…this is worse."

Ronan grinned.

"You say that about everything."

"…Because everything is worse."

But he didn't stop.

Step by step—

They moved forward.

Along the boundary.

Along the one thing that wouldn't change.

And because it wouldn't change—

It was the only thing they could rely on.

Edrin exhaled slowly.

"…So this is it."

Lyra glanced at him.

"…What do you mean?"

"…We've been dealing with things that react."

A pause.

"…Things that depend on us."

Kael nodded.

"Yes."

Edrin looked down at the line beneath his feet.

"…But this…"

A breath.

"…This exists whether we do anything or not."

Ronan smirked.

"Finally. Something honest."

Edrin huffed.

"…Yeah."

Step.

"…No tricks."

Step.

"…No changes."

Step.

"…No second chances if you mess up."

Lyra's voice was calm.

"…Then don't look away."

Edrin nodded.

"…I won't."

They continued forward.

Balanced.

Focused.

Careful.

And slowly—

Something began to change again.

Not the line.

Never the line.

But what lay ahead.

Edrin narrowed his eyes.

"…You see that?"

Ronan squinted.

"…Yeah."

Lyra's expression grew serious.

"…Something's there."

Kael's voice was low.

"…At the end of the boundary."

Edrin exhaled.

"…Of course there is."

Because this path—

This line—

It wasn't endless.

It led somewhere.

To something.

And whatever waited at the end—

Wouldn't be shaped by them.

Wouldn't react to them.

Wouldn't change.

It would simply—

Be.

Edrin steadied his steps.

"…Alright."

A pause.

"…Let's see where this goes."

And for the first time—

They weren't walking on something they created.

They were walking on something—

That had always been there.

Waiting.
