Chapter 32 - Chapter 32: The Midnight Power

The midnight air was cool, but the master suite was burning with a different kind of heat. The moonlight silvered the edges of the furniture, casting long shadows across the floor. Dante was sitting up against the headboard, his bare chest showing the scars of a dozen battles, his breathing slowly returning to normal.

Leo didn't just lie there. He moved with a new kind of confidence. He leaned over, his fingers tracing the hard lines of Dante's six-pack, feeling the raw power of the man who ruled the city. Leo leaned in and initiated a deep, lingering kiss—a kiss that tasted like a challenge. He was the one leading the mood tonight, showing Dante that he wasn't just a fragile piece of glass.

When they finally pulled apart, Leo didn't move away. He stayed close, his skin warm against Dante's, his eyes locked onto the Boss's dark gaze.

"Dante," Leo whispered, his voice steady in the quiet room. "I've been thinking about what you said today. About how the Council looks at me. About how the world thinks I'm just a 'distraction' that makes you weak."

Dante's hand came up to stroke Leo's hair, his eyes tracking Leo's every movement. "They are fools, Leo. Their opinions don't matter."

"They matter to me," Leo countered, his hand resting firmly over Dante's heart. "I don't want to be the 'captive doctor' that people whisper about in the hallways. I don't want your guards to look at me with pity or fear because I'm hidden away like a secret. I want to be someone they must respect."

Dante tilted his head, intrigued by the fire in Leo's eyes. "Respect? In my world, respect is earned through power, Leo. Not medicine."

"Then give me that power," Leo said, his voice dropping to a serious, intense tone. "I want to stand beside you, not behind you. I want them to look at me and see the person who holds the Boss's trust. I want to be the one person they dare not look down on because they know the strength of the man standing behind me."

Dante let out a low, rough sound—a mix of a growl and a laugh. He loved this spark in Leo. He loved that Leo wasn't begging for mercy; he was demanding a seat at the throne.

"You're asking to be part of the fire, Leo," Dante rumbled. "You're asking to be the Moretti Shadow. If I agree to this, the world will see you as my equal in the family. They won't see a victim. They will see a threat."

"Good," Leo replied, his eyes flashing. "Let them be afraid. I'd rather be a threat than a prisoner. If marrying you is the only way the world will see me as more than just your toy, then that is what we will do. But I won't be a trophy on a shelf, Dante. I will be the one person you listen to when everyone else is shouting."

Dante grabbed Leo's waist, pulling him up so they were chest-to-chest. The air between them was electric with a new kind of understanding. This wasn't just about sex anymore; it was a pact.

"You want to be the one I listen to?" Dante whispered, his eyes searching Leo's. "You want that kind of respect? It means you belong to me in every way. It means when the Council bows to me, they bow to you too. Is that what you want, Doctor? To leave the light and join me in the dark?"

Leo didn't hesitate. He leaned in, his lips brushing against Dante's ear. "I've been in the dark since the night I saved you, Dante. I'm just tired of being afraid of it. I want to rule it with you."

The look in Dante's eyes changed. It was a spark of pure, lethal pride. He realized that by trying to protect Leo, he had accidentally created exactly what he needed: a partner who was just as dangerous as he was.

"Fine," Dante growled, flipping Leo over so he was pinned beneath him once more, but this time, the energy was different. It was a coronation in the dark. "If you want to be my partner, I'll give you the world. But remember, Leo... there's no way out once we start this. From tonight, you are the Moretti law."

Leo wrapped his arms around Dante's neck, a small, knowing smile on his face. He had found the way to turn his cage into a castle.
