Volume II: The Realm of Qing
Arc: Building the Traveling Legion
Chapter 16: Emergence of the Black Mind
Suddenly, an arrow whistled through the air and thudded into the ground near them. Attached to its shaft was a sealed letter.
Bai Ron retrieved it and broke the seal. As his eyes scanned the parchment, his expression shifted from curiosity to grim realization.
"What is it?" Ryuma asked, his voice steady.
"Disaster," Bai Ron replied, handing him the message.
The letter was addressed: To General Qing. The contents were brief and chilling: "Every move you make is predicted. Exactly as I planned." It was signed: Kuro, the Strategist.
Immediately, the System flickered into view:
[WARNING]
[Main Target Identified: Kuro]
[Classification: Tactical Genius]
[Probability of Corruption Link: 67%]
"So, it begins," Ryuma murmured.
"Do you know him?" Bai Ron asked, his hand tightening on his sword hilt.
"No," Ryuma replied, a faint, sharp smile tugging at his lips. "But I know his type."
Chapter 17: The Meeting of Minds
In the enemy camp, a slender man sat in silence, sipping tea. He was surrounded by sprawling maps and tactical sketches. His eyes were as black as ink—cold and unreadable.
"So, the Variable has arrived," Kuro whispered.
"Shall we send an assassin?" his assistant inquired.
Kuro smiled, a thin, predatory expression. "No. I want to play."
He picked up a black chess piece and placed it firmly on the board. "Boring wars end too quickly. But when a brilliant opponent appears..." He looked up, his gaze piercing. "That is when the real fun begins."
Chapter 18: The True Game Begins
Under the shroud of night, Ryuma sat alone. The System interface shimmered before him with new data.
[Hidden Information Unlocked]
[Objective: In this world, you must defeat 3 War Geniuses.]
[Each represents a different form of Corruption.]
[Note: Brute force will not suffice. Only the Mind shall prevail.]
"And where's the fun without a little risk?" Ryuma challenged.
A new notification pinged:
[Hidden Quest Triggered]
[Objective: Gather the Generals of the Future.]
[Reward: Additional 3% Unlocked.]
"Generals?" Ryuma questioned.
The System responded: [The true heroes of this world... have not been born yet.]
Ryuma's smile widened. "Then I'll simply have to create them."
Chapter 19: The Commander Who Never Quailed
Dawn broke cold and gray, with a thick mist clinging to the battlefield. Ryuma was scouting with Bai Ron when the discordant sounds of clashing steel and desperate shouting echoed through the fog.
A woman's voice rose above the chaos, commanding and fierce: "Do not retreat! If the rear line collapses, we all die!"
Ryuma stopped in his tracks. That voice... it was familiar. He sprinted toward the sound and emerged at the edge of a brutal skirmish. A unit of forty soldiers was surrounded by nearly two hundred enemies.
However, it wasn't a slaughter. Ryuma watched in silence, impressed by the tactics on display: a Half-Moon formation, calculated retreats, and precision strikes. This wasn't a desperate struggle for survival; it was professional warfare.
At the front stood a woman with short, silver hair and light armor. Her face was etched with exhaustion, but her eyes burned with an unquenchable fire.
It was Sia.
She had changed. She was no longer a sheltered princess; she was a Commander.
"Third Unit! Flank left!" Sia barked. "Don't think about victory! Just stay alive!"
Ryuma smiled. "Just as I thought."
"You know her?" Bai Ron asked, stunned by the woman's ferocity.
"I do," Ryuma said, stepping out into the open.
"What are you doing?!" Bai Ron hissed.
"I'm reclaiming one of my generals," Ryuma replied coolly.
Chapter 20: Reunion Amidst the Bloodshed
Ryuma entered the fray with an eerie, predatory calm.
Step... step...
[Activating: Void Steps]
He vanished, reappearing instantly behind the enemy commander. One strike, and the man fell. Then a second, then a third. Panic rippled through the enemy ranks like a virus.
"A ghost!!" a soldier shrieked.
In twenty seconds, fifteen field officers lay dead.

Sia noticed the sudden shift. That style... that suffocating calm... Her breath hitched. "Impossible..."
Ryuma appeared at her side. In a fluid, synchronized motion, they struck down the last attacker together. Silence fell over the field. Sia stared at him, her hand trembling.
"Is it...?"
"I'm a little late," Ryuma said simply.
Sia froze, her eyes shimmering with emotion. Then, she reached out and struck his shoulder with all her might. "You idiot!!"
The surrounding soldiers gasped in shock.
"You disappeared without a word!" Sia yelled. "Do you have any idea how long I looked for you?!"
For the first time, Ryuma gave a genuine, soft smile. "I'm sorry."
"Don't apologize," Sia muttered, looking away to hide her face. "Just... don't disappear again."
"I can't promise that," Ryuma replied. After a brief pause, he added, "But I can promise this: I won't let you die."
Sia didn't answer, but a small, tired smile finally touched her lips.
Chapter 21: The Witch Who Sees the Truth
Applause echoed.
A woman sat atop a rock, sipping tea.
It was Mira.
Mira: "A touching reunion. 7/10."
Sia: "Mira!"
Mira descended and looked at Ryoma, a cunning smile playing on her lips.
"As I expected… Destiny loves you."
Ryoma: "How did you find us?"
Mira: "I didn't find you." She pointed to her head. "I sense lies now."
She glanced at the soldiers. "Three of them are planning to desert."
The soldiers trembled in terror.
Ryoma: "A new ability?"
Mira: "An upgrade."
She stepped closer, peering into his eyes. "But you… I cannot read everything."
She whispered: "The System is shielding you."
Ryoma: "..."
Chapter 22: The First Legion Meeting
Nightfall.
A fire blazed.
They sat together, eating a simple meal of rice, dried meat, and soup.
Sia: "This world is different."
Ryoma: "Here, wars are not decided by heroes."
Bai Ron: "But by armies."
Mira: "And deception."
Ryoma: "That is why we will build something."
Sia: "What?"
Ryoma: "A small army. But… one that cannot be defeated."
Chapter 23: The First Recruitment
In a ruined village, they found a young man striking soldiers.
He was weak, yet he refused to surrender.
He was struck down; he stood up.
He was struck again; he rose again.
Bai Ron: "Stupid."
Ryoma: "No. Fuel."
Ryoma approached him. "Your name?"
The youth: "Lin. I want to become a General."
Everyone laughed.
Ryoma: "Why?"
Lin: "Because the strong decide who lives. And I am tired of being weak."
Ryoma smiled. "Good. First… learn how not to die."
Chapter 24: The First Loss
A night raid.
A brilliant plan.
But… Kuro had anticipated it.
An ambush.
Twelve of their men fell. Lin was wounded.
Sia was furious. "How did they know?!"
Mira: "There is a leak."
Silence.
Ryoma: "Good."
Sia: "Good?!"
Ryoma: "Now I know. My enemy is not just a genius; he is playing the exact same game as I am."
Chapter 25: A Trick Against a Genius
Ryoma began spreading fake plans.
Deliberately.
He allowed them to be leaked.
Three plans—all of them traps.
Kuro smiled. "Amateur."
Kuro chose one and attacked.
But—it was the fourth plan.
The one that was never written.
A reverse ambush.
Kuro lost his first unit.
Assistant: "How?!"
Kuro: (Smiling) "Finally. This is fun."
Chapter 26: Growth of the Legion
A month passed.
Training commenced:
Sia taught them combat.
Bai Ron taught tactics.
Mira taught deception.
Ryoma taught them how to think.
Lin began to change. He was no longer reckless; he became analytical.
System: [Legion Core Created] [Reward: +1%]
Chapter 27: Uncovering Corruption
Mira discovered something.
"There is someone above Kuro."
Ryoma: "I know."
Mira: "How?"
Ryoma: "The same feeling that was in the world of Edenia. A thread of corruption."
System: [Warning] [You are approaching the truth of the System]
Chapter 28: The Battle of the Red Valley
The first major battle.
500 against 3,000.
Sia: "Impossible."
Ryoma: "If we just fight, yes."
He pointed toward the valley. "But if we think…"
They blocked the pass. They burned the grass and stirred up clouds of dust.
The enemy was blinded.
The Legion split, striking the leadership directly.
The enemy army retreated.
An impossible victory.
