Chapter 29 - Chapter 30 Dumbledore's Miscalculation

  Chapter 30 Dumbledore's Miscalculation

Harry's heart skipped a beat when he heard the words, "Growing up in the Muggle world, unaware of the wizarding world."

The Sorting Hat had even considered sorting him into Slytherin.

If it weren't for Hagrid, Ron, and Draco Malfoy's demonstrations, would he have been...?

He thought of Fred and George's attitude towards Slytherin.

How would they have treated him in an even worse way?

Hagrid looked at Harry, who had lowered his head, seemingly calm.

He mistakenly assumed Harry was no longer troubled.

Then he said casually, "Actually, you don't need to think too badly of your father. After fifth year, he stopped playing pranks. Like Lupin, he became a truly good student. That's why your mother started dating him in seventh year."

"What about Snape? How did he and Mom break up?"

  Harry asked sadly.

"Ah? This..." Hagrid really didn't know how to answer.

This matter had caused quite a stir.

He had even been nearby at the time.

Later, he asked the people around him for details.

James, still thinking he looked cool coming off a flying broomstick, deliberately messed up his hair, constantly flaunted his Golden Snitch, and was an outrageous student who would cast spells on anyone who annoyed him in the corridors.

After the Defense Against the Dark Arts exam, under the beech trees by the lake,

James, the traitor Sirius, the hero Peter, and Lupin were teasing Snape again.

The first two were the main culprits, undoubtedly the disgusting traitor instigating it.

Snape's mouth was filled with pink bubbles from James's Cleanse.

  He couldn't breathe.

Lily appeared, and James used this opportunity to arrange a date with her.

Snape seized the chance to retaliate.

James, angry, hung Snape upside down in mid-air. Lily

drew her wand, ready to attack James.

  James released Snape.

Snape called Lily a Mudblood and said he didn't need her help.

  Lily angrily left.

Snape was hung upside down again.

  His underwear was pulled down.

After that incident, Lily never spoke to Snape again.

James, who had been insulted by Lily and told he was just as detestable as Snape, began to change his ways.

Hagrid genuinely didn't know how to tell Harry this story.

And it would inevitably involve Sirius Black.

"Is it because of my father?" Seeing Hagrid's silence, Harry thought he had the answer.

  The gathering ended unhappily.

Harry didn't notice a small piece of paper under the teapot warmer—a clipping from the *Daily Prophet*. A

  report about the Gringotts robbery.

However, this also meant he was no longer destined to have his pockets full of heavy, tooth-crushing rock crackers.

On the way back to the castle,

Harry recounted his childhood with a heavy expression.

He felt like he was Snape, being bullied by Dudley's gang.

For the first time, Basil felt Harry had the makings of a protagonist.

He disliked Dudley's old sweater, which shrank smaller and smaller until it was only fit for a hand puppet.

He was chased by Dudley's gang and ended up teleporting to a rooftop chimney.

His hair wouldn't grow long, so his aunt, who disliked his messy hair, dragged him to get a haircut. But every time he got a haircut, even if it was shaved bald, it would grow back overnight.

Compared to Harry, Basil's ability to make mushrooms bigger and tastier seemed rather pathetic.

Also, Harry seemed surprisingly familiar with Mrs. Figg, the witness from the fifth movie.

He was often left at Mrs. Figg's house by the Dursleys,

and therefore disliked cabbages and cats.

But Harry said he didn't sense that same aversion in other cats.

However, Basil didn't pay attention to any of this.

His attention was entirely focused on Mrs. Figg, a Squib who loved cats and was Harry's neighbor.

Could she be one of Dumbledore's people?

She and Filch both had the last name 'Filch.' They

  both loved cats.

  Could they be a couple?

Then he overheard Harry saying that the Dursleys sent him to school.

They always teased him about how they treated him as a child.

  Everyone else was indignant.

  Granger even recited the law.

She clearly pointed out that it was illegal.

She could have her father contact the community and sue them to disqualify them from adopting Harry.

Harry hesitated three times, but ultimately refused.

"How much did the movie change?!" Basil was utterly speechless.

He had always believed Harry went to Diagon Alley on September 1st.

Hagrid then took him to the station,

and suddenly disappeared, leaving Harry alone.

  Then the Weasleys appeared.

It was all Dumbledore's scheme, deliberately isolating Harry and making him more familiar with the Weasleys.

But completely different from the movie, after going to Diagon Alley, Harry stayed at the Dursleys' house for a month.

The Dursleys even took him there.

  Harry's meeting

with Ron was also a coincidence. Hmm, just like Dumbledore's mild temper, he wasn't entirely as cunning as portrayed in the movies?

However, shortly after they left Hagrid's hut,

  Dumbledore appeared there.

"Hagrid, how did the talk with Harry go?"

Hagrid covered his face. "I messed up! You asked me to check on Harry's daily life. Because he grew up in that kind of family, he might get bullied." "

But I accidentally revealed something about James."

"Basil Granger?" Dumbledore adjusted his glasses.

This boy escaped from Fenrir's clutches and fought back. He

silently and without a wand chased away the Malfoy boys. He

reported the flaws of the Sorting System to Minerva.

Someone like him, after hearing Snape's inexplicable words, would definitely go and find out the reason.

"No." Hagrid felt a little confused. "It was Hermione."

  Dumbledore: ? ? ? ?

How come he always guesses wrong whenever he's involved with this boy?

"Not far off. Another main character." Dumbledore coughed. "So what does Harry think of James?"

Hagrid buried his face in his knees. "Dudley! Dudley Dursley!"

  Dumbledore understood instantly.

  He frowned.

Although James was arrogant, frequently broke school rules, and bullied others

, he was a good boy.

When Sirius's prank nearly killed Snape, it was James who stopped him in time, saving Snape's life.

Later, he even changed his ways and joined the Order of the Phoenix.

  He felt immense pressure.

Should he replace the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor for the second year with Lupin?

Let Lupin tell Harry about James's excellence?

Let Gilderoy Lockhart off the hook for now?

Dumbledore rubbed his temples, glancing at the small piece of paper under the teapot warmer.

Hmm, teach Hagrid to cut out news articles, record valuable information, and connect them.

Give him the most recent newspapers.

Figg said that although Harry was nearsighted, his observation skills were very sharp; he would definitely notice.

At the same time, he couldn't keep secrets

. He wouldn't be able to resist asking.

  In this regard, he should—

he asked casually, "Harry didn't find out about Gringotts, did he? After all, the dark wizard went there right after you left that day."

  Hagrid sobbed.

Dumbledore's lips curled into a smile.

However, Hagrid's face beamed with a confident smile. "No! He knows absolutely nothing! He didn't even ask!"

  Dumbledore

hesitated for a moment, then remembered that the largest headline in the day's reports was about Fenrir's death.

Ron, with his big mouth, probably hadn't seen the report.

  Harry—

  it was Basil Granger again!!!

I'll still post the original text, otherwise it feels controversial:

["This will perk you up, Bigfoot," James whispered, "Look who that is…

    "

Sirius turned his head. He suddenly froze,

like a dog that had sniffed a rabbit.

    "Great," he said softly, "Snotty."]

It seemed like James and his group had deliberately caused trouble more than once.

["Let him go," Lily repeated. She looked at James with utter disgust.] "What did he do to you?"

"You think you're so funny," she said coldly, "but you're nothing but an arrogant, bullying scoundrel, Potter. Let him go."

"If you come with me, I'll let him go, Evans," James said immediately. "Go on… come with me, and I'll never lay a finger on that old snotty-nosed again."
