Chapter 17 - Chapter 17

Using Hirenkyaku to create distance, Haschwalth sensed the danger of the incoming slash.

Suddenly, he felt a sharp pain in his shoulder.

A gruesome wound stretched from his left shoulder to his chest, and blood gushed out.

The patterns of his Blut Vene were still glowing.

'How is this possible? I clearly dodged that strike just now. Not only that, but it even broke through my Blut Vene's defense.' Haschwalth's eyes were no longer filled with shock, but with... fear.

'That kind of footwork and attack power... it's terrifying, i might die here today.'

"Haschwalth, I told you that you would die here today. Did you think I'm joking?" Kazuma still had a smile on his face.

"Quincies are nothing special after all!"

"Haschwalth!"

Seeing him grievously wounded by a single strike from that Shinigami, Edith and Lila quickly broke away from their own battles and rushed over, positioning themselves in front of him.

Lila—Schrift L.

Lila can heal wounds and illnesses through the power of love and light.

Lila swiftly activated her ability, and Haschwalth's wound began to heal rapidly, visible to the naked eye.

"Oh, a healing ability? Then... I'll just have to cut you again!" Kazuma said, using Shunpo to advance and swing his blade once more.

"Don't even think about it, Shinigami." Edith stepped forward, shielding Haschwalth and Lila.

Clang!

Kazuma's strike was like hitting a diamond.

'I actually didn't break through her defense? What kind of ability is this?'

"My name is Edith, Schrift I. My body is as hard as steel. You cannot break my defense."

"Ha! Edith, is it? I admit your defense is quite high, but you should stop trying to hold on. While this strike didn't break your defense, the next one might not be the same," Kazuma said, as if he had heard the world's greatest joke.

"What should we do, Lila? This Shinigami is tough to deal with. I took a hit from him just now, and even with my ability at full power plus Blut Vene, I barely blocked it. Another strike might be dangerous," Edith whispered, sounding relaxed but actually at the end of her rope.

"Hey, Quincy, I'm about to strike again. Try not to die," Kazuma said, quietly infusing a trace of stellar power into his Zanpakutō.

With a single swing, Edith was instantly decapitated and her blood splattered everywhere!

"EDITH!"

Witnessing this scene, another Quincy charged toward Kazuma in a rage.

"Create a miracle."

The corners of Kazuma's mouth curled up slightly in a disdainful smile.

A strange light emanated from Edith's body, and she was miraculously resurrected.

"Shinigami, I am Michael, Schrift M. I can create miracles, resurrect—"

Before Michael could finish, Kazuma interrupted him impatiently, "Honestly, you're just a random dude with a weird ability."

Kazuma's figure flashed, and he swiftly appeared before Michael, his Zanpakutō shimmering with the light of stellar power.

"Michael, be careful! There's something strange about his attacks!" the newly resurrected Edith shouted a warning to her comrade.

However, it was already too late.

Kazuma swung his blade without hesitation. The strike, imbued with stellar power, instantly slew Michael!

Michael's eyes widened in disbelief and astonishment as his body slowly collapsed.

To outsiders, it looked as if Edith and Michael had died because they couldn't block Kazuma's attacks.

"Haschwalth, Lila, there's something strange about this Shinigami's attacks. When he cut me just now, it felt like my Schrift's ability was sealed for a moment, which is why I couldn't block his strike," Edith said with a grave expression, recounting what had just happened.

But it was too late, Michael was already dead.

"What!?" Haschwalth and Lila looked at Edith in shock.

At that moment, Kazuma, with his Zanpakutō slung over his shoulder, walked toward the three of them step by step, his eyes filled with indifference.

"The three of you, come at me together," Kazuma said faintly.

Faced with a powerful enemy, Haschwalth and Lila exchanged a look and decided to join forces against Kazuma.

They unleashed their abilities simultaneously.

For a moment, light flashed and energy overflowed the area.

However, Kazuma's strength far exceeded their imagination, and he easily dodged their attacks.

"It's over." Kazuma swung his Zanpakutō, tracing a brilliant arc.

Haschwalth, Lila, and Edith did their utmost to resist, but they were ultimately no match for Kazuma's powerful offensive.

The three of them fell to the ground, severely injured.

Kazuma looked at the fallen trio, preparing to strike again and reap their lives.

"Haschwalth, Lila, go, quickly!"

Knowing they were no match for Kazuma, Edith prepared to self-destruct to buy them time to escape.

"Edith!" Haschwalth decisively grabbed Lila and retreated explosively.

Edith's body suddenly began to swell.

'Self-destruction?'

Noticing something was wrong, Kazuma used Shunpo to distance himself from Edith.

Boom!

A small mushroom cloud rose on the battlefield.

Although the self-destruction didn't affect Kazuma, he had lost the chance to kill Haschwalth and Lila.

"What an incredible camaraderie. To be able to sacrifice yourself without hesitation for your comrades. For that alone, you have earned my respect." Kazuma watched the two who had already fled far away and had no intention of pursuing them.

...

"Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!" Haschwalth and Lila stared at the mushroom cloud in the distance, their hearts filled with rage and unwillingness.

They knew Edith had chosen to self-destruct to let them escape.

This sacrifice left them feeling immensely shocked and guilty.

If only they had been stronger.... perhaps Edith wouldn't have had to die for them.

"Haschwalth... what do we do now?" Lila looked at Haschwalth, her eyes full of sorrow and fear.

She knew what Edith's self-destruction meant, and she knew their situation was now dire.

Haschwalth took a deep breath, trying to calm his inner turmoil.

"First, we'll join the other Sternritter members to deal with the remaining captains. Then we'll team up with the others and avenge Edith!"

After speaking, Haschwalth turned with Lila and joined a nearby battle.

All that remained was the battlefield, ravaged beyond recognition by Edith's self-destruction, and Kazuma's indifferent back.

Kazuma watched Haschwalth and Lila's retreating figures and shook his head slightly.

He knew well that this war had only just begun, and there were many more Quincies waiting for him to eliminate.

Meanwhile, the battles between the other Shinigami squads and the Quincies had also reached a fever pitch.

Neither side would yield, fighting fiercely, and the entire battlefield was filled with the stench of death and blood.

His gaze slowly swept across the surrounding battlefield, and a strong sense of responsibility welled up in his heart.

The captains of the Gotei 13 were all powerful beings, so there was no need to worry about their combat prowess.

But Kazuma also knew clearly that this was not an easy fight.

At this moment, the lower-ranked Shinigami forces did not hold the same advantage as the captains.

In comparison, the Quincies' power was greater.

Looking around, the battlefield was littered with the corpses of Shinigami and Quincies, each figure representing a once-vibrant life.

Kazuma carefully observed the bodies and his heart sank.

He noticed that the number of Shinigami corpses was slightly higher than that of the Quincies.

This fact made him realize that if the situation continued to develop this way, although the Soul Society would eventually win, the price would be enormous.

'Looks like I have to do something,' Kazuma thought, carrying his Zanpakutō as he searched for his next target...

...
