Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 - Buy a wig

In a room where the furniture consisted of only a small bed, a table and a small sized wardrobe, a young man lay on the bed uncaring about the water dripping of his dark hair onto the small bed.

If someone else was in the room, they would be surprised at how the young man kept staring into space.

Of course that young man was Adam and he was currently reading his profile according to the Arrogance System.

____

[ HOST: Adam Wilson ]

Balance: $12,450

Arrogance Level: E (2%)

Influence Tier: E (Negligible)

Risk Level: LOW

____

Active Mission: None

____

Locked Abilities:

• Presence Amplification (Unlock at Rank C)

• Psychological Pressure (Unlock at Rank B)

He had earned a close to thirteen thousand dollars from a single mission. This was an amount that Adam rarely saw in his balance.

Though the money was a welcome sight, Adam had confirmed some of his specilations with a single mission.

He didn't know what risk Level did but his arrogance level had gone from F to E after completing the mission at Benji's.

His influence was most likely going to increase the more he made an impact in society.

Most importantly, the reward for spending a hundred dollars in the restaurant was originally $200 but a multiplier based on the amount of witnesses had made it $6,400.

The shocking part was that, when he tossed the cheesecake into the bin, and left the place while his coffee was on order, his perception meter had gone to one hundred percent.

This then doubled the original reward of $6,400 into $12,800.

Once the mission got completed, the perception meter disappeared but he guessed it was based on how much people believed he was superior or arrogant at that point.

So he didn't fully show superiority to the first guy he had to taunt which was why the meter stopped at 89%.

If he had shown a better vehicle or shown he was actually a more wealthy person, it might had gotten to a hundred percent.

Then he could have gotten six hundred dollars instead of three.

"Nothing can be done about it. I just need to move on."

As to the potential abilities, he could only wait till he unlocked them to know how they really worked. Though being able to amplify his presence sounded cool.

He was definitely not looking forward to it just to fulfill his childhood imagination.

Nope.

Adam Wilson was a respectable adult in society.

Laying down on his old creaky bed, Adam wondered what he would have to do next.

He couldn't possibly go around telling people that he had a system. He'll probably disappear one day and he used in a government facility for research.

And if he was asked how he got the system, he didn't even have an actual answer.

'I can't exactly tell them I was tired of being looked down on and swore to be successful.'

So while he couldn't tell people, did that mean he would have to hide the system and stop making use of it?

That was more stupid.

Nobody enjoyed the suffering of poverty. It would be a massive insult to himself and every other struggling person to have this massive opportunity and not make use of it.

He could never live normally knowing he was suffering while having a wealth glitch in his back pocket.

Adam Wilson was a decisive person. Since he had decided to use it, he wouldn't second guess his choice.

Now, he only had to decide how to launder his not so ill-gotten wealth.

Casually spending hundreds and thousands of dollars wouldn't mean much but when he had to show superiority to heirs of conglomerates, he would need to explain to literally everybody why he can casually throw millions of dollars around.

"I'd probably use winning the lottery as an excuse when it comes to that."

Bang! Bang!

Leaping off of the bed like a cat caught holding a goldfish, Adam hesitated a bit before opening the door.

A short portbellied man in his late 40s with hairline halfway through his hair stood at the doorway with his fists raised in a knocking motion.

"Good-" Adam began his greeting before being cut off.

"'Good' your father. Where is the rest of my rent money, Adam Wilson?" the short man barked loudly.

Leaning sideways to dodge the spittle flying through the air, Adam swallowed a sigh.

"Mr. Roberts, sorry for the late payment but there is no need for the harassment, we agreed I'd pay the rent by saturday and this is just Friday."

"Harrasment?" Roberts roared, "if your father didn't help me when I was younger, do you think I would put up with this nonsense?"

"If you don't have money why don't you go ask your parents for money? Trying to steal my money."

This time Adam couldn't hold it anymore, he replied in a cold tone, "I might not pay my rents on time but it doesn't give you the right to bring up my dead parents.

"Are you trying to humiliate me just for $300?"

Roberts looked shocked that Adam was able to retort at him. This was the first time he had gotten the reaction even though he occasionally came to insult the boy.

This was the first time he had brought up the issue of the boy's parents but he still did not imagine that Adam would forget his place.

"Just $300?" He sneered, "you think I do not know your situation? You're a begger compared to your mates. You need to sweat and bleed to earn that money and you have the guts to call it just?"

Adam laughed, once more grateful for the system's existence.

"That was the Adam of the past. The only reason I'm still here is for nostalgia." he lied. "$300? I'll send it to you now."

Pulling up his smartphone, Adam punched in a bunch of keys and immediately sent the money to Roberts, shocking the short man.

[ Perception Increased: 27%]

"Is the $300 enough?" Adam asked, a hint of anger lacing his voice. "Why don't I send you another."

Receiving the alert of another $300, Roberts was shocked at the sudden display of wealth.

[Perception Increased: 58%]

Before he could say anything again, Adam strode up to him.

Standing at 6'4 the young man towered over the landlord who was considered short by average standards.

"Are you satisfied with the money? Or do I need to send another $300 so you could buy a wig?" he coldly asked.

[Perception Increased: 64%]

Seeing the perception stuck at 64%, Adam could only pull out his final card.

"Now that I look around, I shouldn't even live in this dumpster."

Turning back into the room, Adam picked a small backpack and tossed his most important belongings leaving his clothes and general items.

"I will be sending someone to bring the rest, I give you back ownership over your dump."

And without a second look, Adam Wilson walked off.
