The cafeteria at Kashyap Enterprises was buzzing softly, a familiar hum of chatter, clinking plates, and the occasional laughter that made the large space feel warm and alive. Sunlight spilled through the tall windows, casting golden patterns across the polished floor.
Today's lunch meet-up was special—not only because it was Friday, but because almost everyone from the team had managed to be there. Aradhya sat at the corner table, gently adjusting her hair as she picked at her salad, her eyes flicking toward the entrance every few seconds.
"Late again," she muttered under her breath, noticing Yuvaan stride in, hands full of his tray, carrying a cup of steaming coffee.
"Don't start without me!" Yuvaan called over his shoulder, flashing a quick grin.
Aradhya rolled her eyes, but couldn't hide the faint smile tugging at her lips. "Wouldn't dream of it," she replied.
Beside her, Myrah was already teasing Reyansh, who was trying not to spill juice while reaching across the table for a napkin.
"You know, Reyansh," Myrah said, "I think your main skill is making chaos look elegant."
"Is that a compliment?" Reyansh asked, arching an eyebrow.
"Depends on your definition of elegant," Myrah replied with a smirk.
From the entrance, Aahan appeared, tray in hand. He moved deliberately, giving a small smile to everyone at the table before sliding into the seat next to Aradhya.
"You've brought enough for a small army," Aradhya commented, nodding toward the towering sandwiches and fruit cups.
"Just enough for us," Aahan said with a faint grin. "Productive, efficient, and well-fed. The perfect combination."
The group laughed softly, the sound spreading warmth through the cafeteria.
"Finally, the elusive Armaan enters the scene," Myrah called out dramatically as Armaan walked in, followed by Rithik, who carried his tray with his usual composed ease.
Armaan raised an eyebrow, smirking. "Elusive, am I? I've been working, you know. Important meetings, very serious stuff."
"Yes, yes," Yuvaan interrupted, leaning back in his chair, "very serious. We all know you saved the world single-handedly before lunch."
"Clearly," Aradhya said, her voice teasing, and their eyes met for just a moment longer than necessary, sending a faint warmth through both of them.
Just then, Nitika and Shaurya walked in together, trays in hand. Shaurya let out a low groan as he dropped into the empty seat next to Aahan.
"You all are far too loud," he muttered, though a faint grin betrayed him.
"Speak for yourself," Aahan said, smiling softly. "I think it's nice."
Finally, Nadya appeared, backpack slung casually over her shoulder, sliding into the seat beside Aradhya. "Miss me?" she asked with a wink.
"You just missed a lot of chaos," Aradhya said with a grin. "Mostly Reyansh spilling juice, as usual."
"I'll make sure to practice my 'non-spilling' technique next time," Reyansh said, pretending to bow, earning laughter from everyone.
Lunch began in earnest. Sandwiches were passed around, juice poured, and the table came alive with light-hearted chatter, teasing, and playful arguments.
"So, Yuvaan," Nitika said teasingly, "how many emails did you ignore today before realizing lunch was more important?"
"Just the important ones," Yuvaan replied confidently.
"You're full of yourself," she said, a faint blush rising to her cheeks when Yuvaan's gaze lingered on her just a little too long.
"Maybe," he admitted softly, though the teasing tone remained.
Across the table, Armaan leaned toward Aradhya, lowering his voice slightly. "You think we can survive the next client meeting without breaking something?"
Aradhya smirked, "I think we can survive anything… as long as you're not leading it, Mr. Hero."
"I'll take that as a challenge," Armaan replied, his eyes briefly locking with hers. The slight tension, playful and unspoken, made both their hearts skip just a beat.
Meanwhile, subtle sparks flickered elsewhere. Yuvaan stole glances at Nitika as she laughed at a joke Myrah had made. Nitika caught his eyes for a second and smiled faintly before looking away.
Shaurya's gaze lingered on Nadya, who was teasing Reyansh about his "chaotic elegance." Shaurya nudged her lightly. "Careful, you might set him on fire with all that sass."
"I think he can handle it," Nadya replied, smiling at Reyansh, who pretended not to hear.
Aahan cleared his throat, shooting a glance at Nitika, his quiet crush evident in the way his eyes softened every time she laughed. Shaurya noticed the subtle exchange and smirked, making a small joke about the "office love polygon," causing everyone to burst into laughter.
Even Rithik and Myrah had their moments. Myrah leaned toward him slightly, whispering something about the latest client report. Rithik raised an eyebrow, the corners of his lips twitching upward in a way that made her grin. Small, fleeting touches, brief glances—just enough to tease the idea of something more.
Sandwiches gone, fruit eaten, and juice finally sipped to the last drop, the conversation naturally drifted toward the weekend plans.
"I might go hiking," Shaurya said, stretching his arms. "Or just sleep. Hard to decide."
"I vote hiking," Armaan said immediately, smiling. "Adventure awaits!"
"Adventure or disaster," Nitika muttered, causing another round of laughter.
"Either way," Yuvaan said, looking around the table at everyone, "we make it fun. Always."
Aradhya felt a faint warmth rise in her chest. The laughter, playful teasing, and small moments—brief touches of connection—made her heart feel light. These moments, fleeting as they might be, were precious.
"Same time next week?" Myrah asked, brushing crumbs from her sleeve.
"Absolutely," Aradhya replied with a grin.
"Deal," Nadya added, winking at Shaurya, who pretended to groan.
The group rose from the table, chatter and laughter spilling out as they returned to their work. The bonds, the teasing, the subtle tension between the crushes—all of it created a vibrant, warm tapestry of friendship, camaraderie, and the faintest hint of romance.
