Jayjay'sPOV
"Keifer!" I called out again, but there was still no response. I started pushing the washroom door with my arm, but nothing happened. I tried again, again, again, and again, but still, it wouldn't budge. I ran outside the room and started looking for a nurse or a doctor. After running for a while, I found a nurse and a doctor—oh wow, buy one get one free.
"EXCUSE ME!!!" I yelled to get their attention. I definitely got it; they turned around and looked at me, looking very confused. I ran up to them.
"My fiancé—he was in the washroom and then I heard a crash. After that, he stopped replying to me! He is in the hospital because he got shot in the back!" I said all of this in one breath. The nurse rubbed my back because I was totally out of breath.
"Calm down, dear," she said.
"How can I? He just lost so much blood!" I said, and the three of us ran back to the room.
"The washroom?" the doctor asked, and I nodded. He tried the same thing I did, but nothing happened. Seriously, what kind of wood is this door made of? Then he kicked it, but nothing. The nurse also tried, but nothing happened. The doctor tried one more time, but still nothing.
Now, I couldn't take it anymore. I pushed the doctor aside and stood in front of the door.
"Here we go," I whispered to myself. They heard me and looked at each other, feeling completely and fully confused. I stepped back a little and, without a warning, I kicked the door. Surprisingly, it flew open! Wow, Jayjay—my high heels and Kuya's tricks actually worked.
I turned to the doctor and the nurse. Their eyes were wide with shock and their jaws had dropped. Ha! That is the power of Jayjay.
Oh, Keifer. I turned back to look inside, and there he was. He was wearing his fresh new clothes, and his hair was still wet, falling over his forehead. He was just standing there, leaning against the wall and scrolling through his phone with both earbuds in his ears.
This idiot! He made me worry so much, and here he is just using his phone. The crashing sound was just a shampoo bottle that had fallen on the floor.
Let's see who will save you from me now, Mark Keifer Watson. I walked towards him and grabbed his ear. The earbud fell out as I pulled his head down toward me.
"Oww, Jay—"
I cut him off. "You idiot! Come out, I have something to tell you!" I said. I dragged him out, made him sit on the bed, and stood right in front of him.
"Wha—" he started, but I cut him off again.
"Shut up! What do you think you were doing, huh? Making me worried to death while you yourself were just scrolling through your phone with both earbuds in? Wow, Keifer, wow!" I said, clapping my hands sarcastically. He just lowered his head and accepted the scolding.
"Do you know how worried I was when I heard that crash sound, you stupid idiot? Do you know how much strength I used to open that damn door? And why didn't you respond to me when I called you? Ohh yeah you were busy scrolling." I kept scolding him and scolding him, and he just kept his head down, listening to every word I said.
I only stopped when I heard someone chuckle behind us. I realized then that the doctor and nurse hadn't left. I turned to them. "Why are you both chuckling?" I asked angrily. They looked at me and then at each other.
"Actually... it's our first time hearing a girl scold her fiancé like this while he just accepts everything," the doctor replied. They both chuckled again. They were really starting to piss me off.
"Get out of here," I said. They both looked at me. "NOW!" I shouted, and they ran out of the room. Stupids.
I turned back to him and pointed my index finger at him. "You—"
This time, he cut me off. "I'm hungry," he said. He looked so cute! Oh god, I'm melting. Get a grip, Jayjay! But how could I, when he was making that face? He was pouting a little and his eyes looked glossy. He looked up at me like a small kid looking at a tall adult; obviously, he was sitting and I was standing, so I looked much taller.
"I'm not done yet," I said.
"But I'm hungry," he said again. I remembered how much he had just worried me.
"I don't care! First, tell me how you ended up just scrolling?" I asked him.
"Actually, I was finished and was about to come out when Yuri sent me a reel. I opened it and put on my earbuds, and I didn't realize I was just scrolling until you opened the door," he said while rubbing the back of his head.
"You idiot! Stupid! How did that shampoo bottle fall?" I asked.
"Maybe I dropped it when I leaned against the wall," he said. I gave him a death glare. "Accidentally!" he finished quickly. This guy...
"Fine," I said as I sat beside him, leaving some distance because I was still mad at this jerk.
"Aren't you going to buy the food?" he asked innocently.
"Go buy it yourself. I'm not your servant," I snapped, looking at him.
"I can't," he replied casually. So CASUALLY.
"Why can't you?" I asked. I was about to hit him when he put his arms up to protect himself.
"I'm injured! I'm injured! I'm injured!" he repeated. I laughed softly at his reaction.
"Okay, I'm going. Wait here, and if I come back and see you on your phone, I'm telling you—you're dead," I said while walking towards the door. He gulped. I was about to leave when he spoke up again.
"Wait, wait, wait, wait!"
"What now?" I asked.
"Is that your heel stuck in the door?" he asked. I looked at the washroom door. Well, it was.
"Yeah," I replied.
"I'm not going to mess with you now. You might kick me, too," he said. I laughed at what he was saying. "What if dinner isn't your favorite? You might stab me with your fork! Or what if you wake up and I'm in the washroom, and when I come out, you just kick me or punch me?" He looked back and forth between me and the washroom door. Is he kidding me?
"Are you kidding me? Have you lost your mind or are you crazy?" I asked him. He smirked. He was about to say something flirty.
"No, I'm not kidding. Yeah, I have lost my mind, and you're the only thing inside my empty head. Yeah, I'm crazy for you. I'm crazy in love," he said.
I could feel my cheeks getting warm. Why am I blushing?
"Shut up!" I said and ran out of the room. After I got outside, I giggled for some reason I really didn't know.
I went to the cafe and bought our food. I was going to get just some snacks since we had just eaten breakfast, but I was starving because I had used so much strength to open that door. Since I was so hungry, I decided to get a full meal. I ordered more, and after taking it, I went back to the room.
I opened the door and went inside. There he was, throwing his phone onto the bed like a child getting caught by their mother for stealing some screen time. Well, that's kind of our story—the only difference is that we are fiancé and fiancée.
"I know you were using your phone," I said as I put the food down.
"Sorry, I was bored," he said, and I nodded.
"We can't get married at the time our parents gave us," I said while eating.
"Why?" he asked.
"Are you stupid? Can't you see your condition? You just got shot and lost so much blood. Worst of all, you literally came back from the death!" I said as I chewed.
"You're right," he said.
"I'm always right," I replied. We both chuckled, and after that, we ate in silence. After eating, I cleared everything away and made him lie back down because he was still injured.
"It's time for your medicine," I said. He shook his head.
"It's so bitter. I don't like the taste," he said, making a face of disgust.
"Why are you behaving like a baby?" I asked, chuckling at his reaction.
"Because I'm your baby," he said with a wide grin on his face.
"Shut up and take your medicine," I said. He shook his head again. "Keifer!" I said, but he still wouldn't do it. "Keif," I used his nickname. "Okay, if you take your medicine, I'll say a line to you that you never expected."
His eyes lit up with joy. "A 'hubby' too?" he asked. I shook my head. "Okay, a 'baby'?" he asked.
"Absolutely not," I said.
"Please, please, please!" he begged.
"Okay," I finally agreed. I really couldn't fight or argue with him while he was behaving like a child. "Now take it."
He opened his mouth and I gave him the medicine. He closed one eye while squinting the other—aww, he looked so cute. Hoi, Jayjay! I got up and went toward the door.
"What about my line and that 'hubby'?" he asked. I turned back to him.
"You said 'Mahal na kita' to me, right?" I asked. He nodded. "Well, hubby... Mahal din kita."
I said it, and he blushed so hard! Oh my god. I ran out of the room before he could ask me anything else.
Wait a minute... why was I even out here? Oh god, I'm so weird—I always take action before thinking things through. I went back to the room door and slowly, carefully opened it a little to peek in. There he was, still sitting on the bed and thinking about something. I really hope he isn't thinking about what I just said. Why would I even say that?
Argh, Jayjay, get your courage together and just go inside! I opened the door fully and walked in. He was about to say something when I cut him off. "Should I call Keiran and Keigan since their school is over now?" I asked. He just nodded.
"Jayjay," he called out. I looked at him.
"Hmm?"
"Do you mean it? That line?" he asked. Oh god, I thought he had forgotten, but he hadn't. I couldn't find the words, so I just nodded in response. "Really? You mean it?" he asked again.
"If you ask me one more time, I'll take my words back," I threatened. He nodded quickly.
"Good," I said. Right then, someone knocked on the door. I went over and opened it.
"ARIES! PERCY!" I yelled. They both nodded at me. I hugged Aries, while Percy just pushed us aside and went straight to Keifer's bed. He was clutching Keifer's hand and fake crying. I hurried to the bed to stop him.
"Percy, get off! He is still injured!" I said and pushed him away. He straightened himself up. Phew, thank god.
"Hey dude, what's up?" Aries asked.
"Everything is chill," Keifer replied. They were both about to do a high five.
"Put your arm down, Keifer! Right now!" I commanded, and he obeyed instantly.
"Whoa... first time seeing Keifer actually listen to someone," Percy said. I gave him a death glare.
"How did you two get here, and who told you about all this?" I asked them.
"Tita and Tito were on a call with Keigan, so he told us everything. We came here as soon as we could," Aries replied.
"Now, you two," I said, pointing my finger at my idiotic brothers, "go sit on the couch and don't disturb Keifer. He's still injured." They both nodded and went to the couch while I sat beside Keifer. I looked at him and realized he was already looking at me. I gave him a smile and turned back to my brothers. "So, where are the others?"
"On their way," Percy said, and I nodded.
"Did you two do speeding again?" I asked.
"Yeah. You're asking like you don't do it, too—you always win our car races!" Aries replied.
"I was just asking. And now, I'm going to tell Papa," I said.
"Oh no, please! My best sister, I'm sorry!" he cried out.
"Wait, wait, wait," Keifer said, making us all look at him. "You do speeding?" he asked me. I nodded.
"Yeah, so what?"
"That's so dangerous, Jay," he said.
"Oh, look who's talking about dangerous things—the Mark Keifer Watson," Percy said. I looked at him, confused. "Oh, come on, Keifer, you do speeding too!" Percy finished.
"But I don't race except for an emergency," Keifer replied. He turned back to me. "You three have car races?"
"Yeah, and she always wins. I wonder where she learned that," Percy said.
"Obviously from you two!" I snapped. "You two were always speeding when I was young and didn't even know how to drive a car yet."
"Bro, I think we had a bad effect on our sister," Aries said to Percy.
"How many times have you guys raced in your life?" Keifer asked.
"Why are you even asking?" Percy asked, clearly annoyed by the constant questions.
"I don't remember how many times because we do it a lot," I said, and my brothers nodded.
"Are you two... together?" Percy asked suddenly.
"No!" I yelled.
"Yes!" Keifer yelled.
We both shouted at the same time, but the difference was that I said no and he said yes.
"What do you mean?" Aries asked.
"You're not off the hook yet. I'm still telling Papa," I said, shifting the topic.
"Wait, no! I said sorry and please!" Aries argued.
"I don't care. I'm still telling," I said, sticking my tongue out at him.
"Please, no! I'm about to get my allowance. I won't get it if you complain about me. Please!" he begged. I finally nodded.
"Thank you! You're the best sister!" Aries said.
"No, no, no. Not just a 'thank you,'" I said.
"What do you need then?" he asked. I just smirked.
"She probably wants half of your allowance. She did the same thing to me," Percy told Aries.
"Hey, I only do that with you! I want something else from Aries," I said, still smirking.
"Something is fishy," Keifer said. I gave him a death glare, and he quickly put his index finger over his lips to stay quiet. I nodded and turned back to Aries.
"You'll buy me snacks whenever I want. And whenever I'm hungry at night, you'll make me food or order it for me," I said.
"Hey, no! You eat like every meal is your last!" Aries complained.
"Okay, then I'll just tell Papa," I said, crossing my arms.
"What exactly will you tell Papa?" Percy asked.
"That he was being rude and mean to me—and you're involved, too!" I said, pointing a finger at Percy.
"Hey, why am I involved?" he asked.
"Because—" A knock on the door cut me off. Who could it be now? I went to the door and opened it. It was Tita, Tito, Keigan, and Keiran.
"Hello, Tita, Tito," I said, and they greeted me back.
"Hi, Ate Jay!" Keigan said.
"Hi!" I replied, ruffling his hair. Then Tita, Tito, and Keigan went inside.
"Hi, my champ!" I said to Keiran. He hugged me with his tiny hands.
"Ate Jay," he said. I lifted him up into my arms. "I missed you!"
"Me too," I replied. I ruffled his hair, and he gave me a kiss on the cheek. (Keiran is only 5 years old, after all).
"Get off, Keiran, or I'll push you down!" Keifer yelled at him. All of us laughed at his reaction—he was actually jealous of a child! He was still giving Keiran a death glare while Keiran just stuck his tongue out at him. Keifer rolled his eyes and turned to talk to Tita.
They all talked for a while, and then i put Keiran on the bed beside Keifer. Keifer looked at him and secretly pinched him—but I saw it!
"KEIFER!" I yelled. Everyone turned to look at us. They looked back and forth between Keiran and Keifer, and then at me. Keiran's eyes were filling with tears.
Everyone started talking again, so I went over and hit Keifer's arm. "You idiot," I whispered.
"What did I do?" he asked, trying to look innocent. I pinched his arm back.
"You did this," I whispered to him.
"Oww, I'm injured!" he complained.
"You pinched a child, you jerk!" I whispered.
"So what? He was being way too clingy to my fiancée," he whispered back.
"Shut up," I said. I was about to scold him more when another knock came on the door. Seriously!
I went to the door, and it was Mama and Papa.
"Mama! Papa!" I said and hugged Papa.
"My princess," Papa said while stroking my back.
"Oh, so you forgot your Mama?" Mama teased. I laughed softly, pulled away from the hug, and hugged her too.
"How could I?" I said. Then I looked at Papa. "Papa, do you know what Aries and Percy—"
"HEY!!" they both yelled, cutting me off.
"What now? Are you afraid?" I asked. They looked at me with pleading eyes. I just nodded for now, but I promised myself I would tell Papa everything when we got home. We all went inside. Papa and Mama sat with my brothers on the couch while I sat beside Keiran.
"So, how did all this happen?" Percy asked. I looked at Keifer, and he looked at me.
"Jayjay," Aries said, using his "big brother" voice.
"Do you remember the thugs I beat up on the first day?" I asked, and he nodded.
"What's going on?" Percy asked, looking confused.
"I'll tell you everything later," I said. I turned back to Aries. "They wanted to get back at me, so they kidnapped me two days ago. Keifer came to save me with Kuya Angelo. Their leader was about to shoot me, but Keifer jumped in and got shot instead." I explained it all and then hit Keifer's arm. "You are totally stupid," I told him.
"Wow," Keiran said, his eyes wide. "Kuya became a hero!" Everyone laughed at that.
"Well, I'm proud of my son," Tita said, patting Keifer's shoulder.
"He didn't have to do that," I muttered, but they all heard me. "I mean, he put his life in danger."
"Jayjay dear, you are his fiancée. It is his responsibility to keep you safe," Tito said kindly.
"Umm, I need to say something about the wedding," I said, shifting the topic. "Keifer is still injured, so I think we should move the marriage to next month, once he has recovered." They all nodded in agreement.
"Are you really ready?" Percy asked sadly. I nodded. "I thought you weren't. I was planning for us to run away from the house because I didn't want you in a marriage that wasn't your choice."
"I should take him out and talk to him," I said. I didn't wait for a response; I just grabbed Percy's hand and dragged him out of the room.
"If you're not ready, just tell me. You don't need to hide anything from your Kuya," he said as soon as we were outside.
"Percy, I am really ready," I said. He nodded sadly. "Are you not happy that I'm marrying your best friend?" I asked him.
"No," he said firmly.
"And why not?"
"Because you'll go away from me. I don't want my baby sista to go away," he said. I hugged him tightly. Oh, my brother.
"I'll come every day to meet my Kuya," I said, rubbing his back. He couldn't hold it back anymore and started crying. I was trying to hold in my laughter because this was only the second time I'd ever seen him cry, and he looks so funny when he cries! (The first time was when I went abroad for six years).
"I don't want you to go," he said, pulling away and wiping his eyes.
"Okay, look, we still have one month. We can enjoy our sibling time," I said, smiling. But he shook his head. "Why?"
"Me, Honey, Aries, Ella, Tito, Tita, Keigan, Keiran, and all our friends are going to a village for a month. We can only call every two weeks. We'll only be back on your wedding day," he said. My jaw dropped.
"Why is everyone going?" I asked.
"Business," he replied.
"Business? Then why aren't Mama and Papa going?"
"We don't know, but they said we need to learn how to handle the business now, and Tita and Tito are going to teach us," he answered.
"Then why our friends? They aren't in the business," I said.
"Yeah, but they are all going for a vacation," he said. I nodded. We looked at each other sadly. He was sad because I was getting married, and I was sad because he was leaving. I hate it.
We both went back inside, still looking sad.
"Why the long faces?" Aries teased us.
"Shut up!" we both said at the same time. I sat down between my brothers and clutched their arms.
"Hey, what happened?" Aries asked, looking concerned.
"This month, you and Percy are leaving," I said. He became sad immediately.
"Sorry we can't spend time with you," he said. I couldn't help it—I hugged him tight and started crying. They both looked so upset. Aries stroked my hair while Percy rubbed my back.
"What's wrong with you three? So sad and emotional," Keifer teased.
"SHUT UP!" we three yelled at him in unison.
"What happened?" Papa asked. I pulled away from the hug and wiped my tears.
"Why didn't you tell me that Percy and Aries are leaving this month?" I asked in a sad tone.
"Because we didn't want you to get upset," Mama said.
"Well, I'm upset now! I wanted to spend time with my brothers, but they're leaving," I said. Mama looked at Papa.
"Jayjay, that's for—"
I cut Papa off. "Business," I completed his sentence. "Again" I said sadly, "Papa, when I was young, Percy went away for business, and I didn't get to spend my childhood with him. And now Aries is also going, and Percy is going with him again!" I said.
"Princess sorry but we can't do anything" he said. But I didn't listen to anything else. I just walked out of the room.
I was only six years old when Percy went away for business, and I didn't get to spend my childhood with my brother. Now Aries is going, too. After so long, I finally met them again—I met my brothers again—and now they are taking them away from me once more. Why does this always have to happen to me? I want to spend this time with my brothers, but because of that stupid business, I can't.
I went to the garden and sat on the grass. I hugged my knees and stared at the sky. Why, God? Why can't I spend time with my brothers?
I was deep in my thoughts when someone put a hand on my shoulder. I turned to see who it was.
"Aries," I whispered. He sat down beside me.
"We'll be back before your wedding," he said.
"How? you guys are going away for a whole month?" I asked, still looking at the sky.
"But for our sister, her Kuya can come back anytime," he said. I looked at him.
"Kuya," I repeated, and he nodded.
"Yes, both of your Kuyas," Percy spoke from behind me. He came over and sat on my other side.
Percy's POV
"What happened, Jaspher?" Tito asked Papa.
"Remember how Percy and Aries are going with you guys for business?" Papa asked, and Tito nodded. "Well, she is sad about that," Papa finished.
"Yeah, because she didn't get a chance to spend her life with us," Aries said, making everyone turn to look at him.
"He's right, Papa. When she was just six, you sent me away to take care of the business," I said.
"But she was with Angelo, and he took a lot of care of her," Mama said.
"But she didn't spend that time with us," Aries argued.
"First I was gone, then she was gone abroad for six years, and now you're sending me and Aries away together. Again, you aren't letting us be with our sister," I said.
"I'm going to Jayjay. She might be sad," Aries said, and then he left.
"Dear, we know that, but you both need to understand the business," Mama said.
"Again with that business! I'm sick of it, Mama," I said. I turned to Papa. "We are siblings, but we haven't been together our entire lives. It's always like this—the three of us get separated."
I walked out of the room. They always do this. I don't want to be part of this stupid business anymore; it has been taking me away from my siblings for too long. Even if I don't want to go, I still have to, and I hate it so much.
The End 🌸.
Do you think that this is the biggest heartbreak, then you guys are wrong the biggest heartbreak will happen when everyone will be in the village and that heartbreak includes JayFer.
