Old man Valmot was preparing to go to sleep when he was startled by two mud clumps looming at the door. After looking again and seeing it was the Kaelen and Sane couple, he frowned, speaking up to reprimand them.
Kaelen bared his teeth grinning, taking out a few lotus plants still intact with roots and leaves to place on the doorsill, telling the old man to temporarily soak them in water first, tomorrow having someone plant them down in the river flowing through the tribe.
He handed him some pre-peeled tender lotus seeds again, for him to nibble on as snacks.
