Chapter 279 - Gongyang Mo: Greetings, Pagoda Master!

Bonus Chapter. Enjoy!

============================

This was the third day since Leng Yaozhu had arrived in the World of Ten Thousand Years ago.

Just yesterday, she had helped Huo Yuhao "break away" from Shrek Academy with her absolute strength.

According to Huo Yuhao's prior calculations, Leng Yaozhu could only safely remain active in the outside World for a total of five days.

Once those five days passed, she had to return to the Undead Plane and could no longer stay outside; otherwise, she might miss the next opportunity for Transmigration and be trapped in this World from Ten Thousand Years ago.

Three days had already passed, leaving her with only the last two days.

So early on the morning of the fourth day, Leng Yaozhu and Huo Yuhao set off directly for Star Luo City.

Although Huo Yuhao's Two-word Battle Armor possessed the ability to fly, his flight speed was naturally far slower than that of the Heavenly Phoenix Douluo, Leng Yaozhu. To save what little time remained, Leng Yaozhu carried Huo Yuhao as they flew throughout the journey.

The phantom of a Fire Phoenix streaked across the sky at an altitude of ten thousand feet, moving so fast that pedestrians on the ground could only see a faint crimson trail of light flashing across the horizon, thinking it was merely an illusion.

In just a few hours, the two had crossed a distance that would take ordinary people many days to travel, arriving at the capital of the Star Luo Empire—Star Luo City.

Walking along the wide and prosperous streets of Star Luo City, Leng Yaozhu's cold, elegant appearance and ethereal temperament once again became the focus of everyone's attention, drawing side-long glances from passersby.

However, Leng Yaozhu had long since grown accustomed to such gazes. She continued walking forward unconcernedly, her beautiful eyes surveying everything around her with interest.

"I've been to the Star Luo Continent of Ten Thousand Years in the future many times," Leng Yaozhu said as she walked. "That new Star Luo City has many similarities to this place. It seems the descendants of the Star Luo Empire never forgot the glory of Ten Thousand Years ago."

As she spoke, she suddenly turned her head to look at Huo Yuhao beside her, a meaningful smile playing at the corners of her mouth.

"Speaking of which, the Star Luo Imperial Family Ten Thousand Years from now are precisely the descendants of the Duke of White Tiger."

"From that perspective, they could be considered your relatives. If we were to rank everyone by seniority, you might even be able to claim the title of an Old Ancestor."

Huo Yuhao was slightly taken aback and smiled helplessly, thinking to himself that Aunt Leng's train of thought was truly unconventional.

He then asked, "Are they the descendants of Dai Yueheng or Dai Huabin?"

Leng Yaozhu shook her head. "The history books don't have specific descriptions, but the Star Luo Imperial Family should have corresponding records. If you're interested, you can go see for yourself if you get the chance in the future."

Huo Yuhao took these words to heart, and a hint of curiosity indeed rose within him. Although he no longer felt any father-son affection for the Duke of White Tiger, it wouldn't hurt to see what his descendants would look like Ten Thousand Years later.

He nodded, his tone calm but not dismissive. "If there's a chance, I should indeed go take a look."

Passing through the busy and noisy streets of Star Luo City, Huo Yuhao did not take Leng Yaozhu to the Starlight Auction House today, but instead walked toward the eastern side of the imperial palace.

As the two passed through the last bustling intersection, the surrounding clamor gradually faded behind them, and the scenery before them opened up.

This place had originally been a prince's manor, with carved beams, painted rafters, pavilions, and terraces; it was once one of the most prominent and prestigious locations in Star Luo City.

But now, that once-glorious palace had been completely leveled. The broken walls and debris had long been cleared away, replaced by a bustling construction site.

Hundreds of craftsmen and laborers were busy in this open space. Some were measuring dimensions, some were carrying stones, and some were mixing mortar. The sounds of work chants, hammering, and the dull thuds of stones colliding intertwined.

Deep trenches had already been dug into the ground, and huge slabs of bluestone were neatly stacked within them, crisscrossing to outline the prototype of a grand building.

Anyone with a discerning eye could tell at a glance that they were laying a foundation, and judging by the scale and depth of that foundation, what was to be built was certainly no ordinary structure.

Huo Yuhao's gaze slowly swept through the crowd and soon locked onto a figure.

It was a slender young man standing alone on a simple high platform at the side of the construction site. He was braving the blazing sun, looking down over the operations of the entire site; this person was Gongyang Mo.

As Huo Yuhao walked toward him, Gongyang Mo quickly spotted him as well. A flash of pleasant surprise first crossed Gongyang Mo's face, then he leaped down from the high platform and walked over with large strides to greet them.

Huo Yuhao watched him approach, his gaze falling on the fine beads of sweat on Gongyang Mo's forehead and his slightly sun-reddened cheeks.

He couldn't help but chuckle, his tone carrying a bit of concern and helplessness. "You're not an architecture student; you don't need to stay here every day. Standing under this big sun for half a day at a time—why bother?"

Gongyang Mo raised his arm to haphazardly wipe the sweat from his forehead with his sleeve, but he shook his head firmly. "The first Spirit Pagoda must be built well. I don't understand architecture, but as long as I am standing here, no one will dare to slack off, and no one will dare to pull any tricks with the Materials."

Huo Yuhao was someone who believed in repaying kindness, and was Gongyang Mo any different? He would always remember that it was Huo Yuhao who had allowed him to stand up again. Not just on his two legs, but in his entire life.

When everyone else treated him as a valueless cripple, it was Huo Yuhao who gave him a chance. It was also Huo Yuhao who invited him to join the Spirit Pagoda, inviting him to become a part of this "infinitely promising" and great cause.

These kindnesses were something he, Gongyang Mo, could never fully repay.

So all he could do was pour his heart out and devote all his energy to this Spirit Pagoda that was rising from the ground. He wanted to use his own eyes to watch every cornerstone be placed and every beam be erected, ensuring that the first Spirit Pagoda could be built perfectly.

Huo Yuhao said nothing more upon hearing this, but his evaluation of Gongyang Mo silently rose a few notches in his heart.

He was always a person who clearly distinguished between gratitude and grudges. If someone showed him a bit of sincerity, he would remember it and surely repay it a hundredfold in the future.

He saw Gongyang Mo's sincerity and diligence, and he remembered it even more clearly.

In this instant, a thought quietly took root in the depths of his heart. In the future, he must find an Immortal Herb suitable for Gongyang Mo to help him break the shackles of his Spirit.

Gongyang Mo's Spirit was the Rainbow Dragon. In terms of support ability, it was not at all inferior to the World's number one support Spirit, the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda.

But just like the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda, the Rainbow Dragon had a fatal limitation: one could only cultivation to level seventy-nine Spirit Saint at most in their lifetime. That door leading to the Titled Douluo realm had been firmly welded shut from the moment their Spirit underwent Awakening.

This was almost a universally recognized ironclad law in the Spirit Master's world, one that no one had been able to break for thousands of years, but Huo Yuhao simply refused to believe in such things.

His Spirit Pagoda was just starting out, and this was exactly when talent was needed. If Gongyang Mo could break through this shackle, it would not only be a wonderful thing for Gongyang Mo himself but would also be of great significance for the future of the Spirit Pagoda.

Gongyang Mo naturally didn't know that the Huo Yuhao in front of him was already calculating how to help him achieve a Heaven-Defying change of fate.

His gaze had now fallen upon Leng Yaozhu beside Huo Yuhao. After just one look, he withdrew his eyes, inwardly marveled that this woman's appearance and temperament were truly too outstanding.

He didn't dare to look too much and asked, "Yuhao, who is this?"

Huo Yuhao immediately introduced her: "This is my teacher, Leng Yaozhu."

Upon hearing this, a visible flash of surprise crossed Gongyang Mo's eyes. He had never heard Huo Yuhao mention having such a teacher before. He instinctively wanted to open his mouth to offer a greeting, but the words got stuck in his throat.

He opened his mouth, for a moment not knowing what would be an appropriate way to address her.

Huo Yuhao saw his predicament and spoke up with a smile to ease the situation. "Senior can just call her Pagoda Master. My teacher and I have already discussed it; once the Spirit Pagoda is completed, she will be the Honorary Pagoda Master of the Spirit Pagoda."

Gongyang Mo's heart jolted at those words, and his gaze toward Leng Yaozhu instantly became several degrees more respectful. He hurriedly called out solemnly, "Pagoda Master!"

Leng Yaozhu nodded slightly, a faint smile appearing on her elegant and noble face as a response.

After the introductions, Huo Yuhao looked around at the busy construction site and turned his gaze back to Gongyang Mo. "Senior, there should be people sent by the Star Luo Imperial Family on this site, right? Please help me arrange a meeting with Princess Jiujiu for tonight."

Gongyang Mo nodded, not asking a single unnecessary question. "Alright, I'll send someone to notify her immediately."

After saying that, he turned and left, his steps crisp and decisive without the slightest hesitation.

Leng Yaozhu watched his departing back, a hint of approval flashing in her beautiful eyes as she gave a rare compliment: "He's a good helper."

The corners of Huo Yuhao's mouth curled up slightly. "Senior Gongyang is indeed very serious in his work."
