Chapter 5 - Mila’s Fury

Chapter 5: Mila's Fury

The doctor rushed in and Mila stood beside her mother's bed, her hands tightly clasped together.

"Please… she is the only one I have left…"

Her voice broke as tears streamed down her face uncontrollably.

All she could hear was the sharp, haunting sound of the machine monitoring her mother's heart.

"Beep… beep… beeeepppp"

Then everything went silent.

Her breath seized.

Another man rushed in and leaned toward the doctor, whispering something no one else could hear. He was dressed in medical apparel, a nose cover hiding most of his face.

"Ma'am, please step outside. Your mother's life is in serious danger. We need to perform emergency resuscitation."

Mila shook her head immediately.

"No… no… I'm not leaving…"

The nurses didn't listen. They pulled her away gently but firmly.

"Ma'am, please. Let us do our job."

Mila was forced out.

She collapsed onto the floor just outside the ward, her body trembling, her chest rising unevenly as she struggled to breathe through the pain.

She looked completely lost. Empty.

Jason stood a few steps away, watching her with quiet pain in his eyes.

He didn't know what to say.

He couldn't.

So he stayed there, silently guarding her.

Minutes passed.

Each second felt like her heart was being squeezed tighter.

Then the doctor came out.

Mila slowly lifted her head.

Hope flickered weakly in her eyes.

The doctor adjusted his stethoscope, avoiding her gaze.

"We are sorry… we lost her."

Mila froze.

Her fingers began to tremble uncontrollably.

Her chest tightened so hard it felt like something inside her had shattered completely.

"You… what?"

Her voice came out faint, disbelieving.

Then suddenly, she sprang up and grabbed the doctor's coat.

"I thought you knew your job!" she screamed, her voice breaking. "You must bring my mother back. Right now!"

The nurses rushed forward.

"Ma'am, please! You can't go in. She is being prepared."

"I don't care!"

A surge of strength rushed through her.

She pushed them away violently.

They fell to the ground.

"Ma'am, no!"

But Mila had already run inside.

She stopped abruptly.

The bed

Was empty.

Clean.

Cold.

Her breathing became uneven, her chest rising sharply.

"Where is my mother…?" she whispered, her voice barely holding together.

"Her body has been taken away," a nurse said softly behind her.

Mila turned slowly.

Her eyes burned with pain, confusion, and rage.

"Do you know who I am?" her voice dropped, dangerously calm. "How dare you take her away without my permission? Am I not the one to bury her?"

Her lips trembled, but she wiped her tears harshly, forcing herself to stay standing.

"Jason!"

"My Lordress."

Her voice turned cold. Completely void of warmth.

"If they don't produce my mother's body…"

She paused, her jaw tightening.

"I want this entire hospital down within an hour."

She walked out without looking back.

"And meet me at home when you're done."

Jason handed her the car keys silently, then turned toward the doctor, his expression now completely void of mercy.

Mila drove like she had nothing left to lose.

Tears blurred her vision, but she didn't slow down.

Her grip on the steering wheel tightened.

Her knuckles turned pale.

Just to have me… he killed them… both of them…

Her chest tightened painfully.

A tear slipped down again.

"Alexander…"

By the time she reached the mansion, the gates opened immediately.

The guards stepped aside with silent respect.

The news had spread.

She was the Don's Lordress.

Mila stepped out of the car slowly.

Her clothes were roughened, her hair messy, her face tear stained.

But her eyes

Burned.

She heard Alexander's voice from upstairs.

Without thinking, she grabbed a small table knife and rushed in.

He stood on the balcony, on a call.

She lunged at him.

But her hands trembled, her aim unstable.

In one swift movement, he caught her wrist and spun her aside.

The knife fell from her hand.

"Do you wish for death?"

His voice was cold enough to freeze the air.

For a brief second, something flickered in his eyes.

He looked at her closely.

Her state.

Her pain.

Her brokenness.

Her hair fell around her face like a cascade. Her breathing uneven. Her eyes filled with something raw and dangerous.

She felt his closeness and hated every second of it.

"Take your hands off me before I cut them off," she spat, her voice shaking with rage.

"Don't ever think you will go free for what you've done."

Her eyes reddened, filled with tears and fury.

"I will be the one to end you."

She held his gaze without fear.

Alexander smiled faintly.

Amused.

Interested.

"So what proof do you have?" he asked calmly as he brought out his cigar. "And you should know that won't be possible."

He sat down and lit it slowly.

"You took everything from me," Mila said, her voice low and deadly. "I will take your entire syndicate… and your life."

She turned and walked away.

Alexander watched her leave, his eyes following her every step until she disappeared from sight.

For a brief moment, the air remained still.

Silent.

Then he reached into his pocket and brought out his cigar.

He paused.

Just for a second.

As if remembering something.

Then he lit it.

The flame flickered softly before the cigar caught.

He took a slow drag, exhaling the smoke into the now empty space.

A faint smirk on his lips.

He dismissed Mila's behavior as grief.

Nothing more.

"Boss."

Kaine approached.

"Speak."

"She ordered Jason to destroy the hospital if they don't return her mother's body."

Alexander nodded, taking a slow drag.

"And her?"

"Stable."

Alexander exhaled slowly.

"Keep tracking Russell. We will need him soon."

"Yes boss."

Vera sat in her office, staring at her phone.

Two days.

Two whole days without hearing from Mila.

That wasn't normal.

Not for them.

Her fingers tapped anxiously against her desk.

"She would have called me… at least once…"

Her chest felt tight.

Even the company Mila applied to had reached out.

They couldn't reach her.

Vera had tried too.

Again and again.

Calls.

Messages.

Nothing.

Her breathing became uneasy.

A strange fear crept into her heart.

Something was wrong.

Something was very wrong.

She grabbed her bag quickly, ready to leave.

Then the television caught her attention.

Breaking news.

A mafia syndicate in Alaska.

Her eyes moved casually across the screen

Until they stopped.

Her body went still.

Her heart skipped violently.

The remote slipped from her hand and hit the floor.

"Mila…?"

Her lips trembled.

Her eyes widened in disbelief.

On the screen was her best friend.

Standing beside the most feared man in Alaska.

Alexander Cora.

"No… no… this can't be real…"

Her breathing became fast, uneven.

Tears gathered in her eyes.

"Was she taken…? Kidnapped…?"

Her chest tightened painfully.

Fear consumed her completely.

Without thinking, she grabbed her bag and rushed out.

She needed to get to the Karper house.

Now.

Mila had just entered her room when her phone rang.

She stared at it for a second before picking it up.

"Who are you?"

"I am a savior," the voice said calmly. "I am calling to help you."

Her brows furrowed.

That voice felt familiar.

"Who are you?" she asked again, colder now.

She had no patience left.

No trust left.

No softness left.

"My Lordress… have you forgotten this voice?"

Silence.

Then,

"Russell Cartel. The one who helped your father with the surgery money."

Mila's grip tightened around the phone.

Her father's last message flashed in her mind.

The money.

The journey.

The blood.

Her breath hitched.

"Alexander…"

The name echoed in her mind, filled with hatred.

Russell's voice continued, smooth and dangerous.

"I would love to help you fulfill your desires."

He chuckled softly.

"You hate Alexander. He destroyed your family, and now he wants you."

Mila's jaw clenched tightly.

"But I never asked for your help."

"My Lordress," he said calmly, "Alexander is not someone you can take down alone."

A pause.

"I can help you destroy him."

Silence filled the air.

Mila slowly sat down on the bed.

Her mother's face.

Her father's lifeless body.

Their voices.

Their memories.

Everything flashed through her mind.

Her chest tightened again.

Her eyes hardened.

"State your conditions."

Russell smiled on the other end.

"Let's meet."

"…Alright."

At that exact moment,

The door to her room opened.

And someone she never expected, walked in.
