Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The eyes.

I woke up slowly, my blurred vision clearer with every blink. Awareness drifted in slowly, the lies her mother told, being tied up to a tree, the eyes, the mysterious eyes with no body.

'Where am I' I whispered into the dimly lit room. I was lying on a large elegant bed, soft sheets, carved wood frame, high ceilings above. The room wasn't just big, it was enormous.

The tall windows were dropped with heavy curtains. Floors well polished and expensive furniture.

Confusion and disorientation settled in. I sat up , overwhelmed.. ' how did I get here, who brought me here' I tried recalling but my memory felt unstable, like it was slipping away.

I got up amidst the heavy pains on my body.

I tried opening the door but it was locked. I instantly began to panic. 'Was I in the palace?'. 'Had they caught me?'. I took few steps away from the door, if I was in the palace that means they are planning to kill me.

Tears streamed down my face as I held my mouth, then the handle of the door clicked. I stared at the door waiting for someone to step in.

Then a figure appeared, old but smartly dressed, gray hair but bright eyes, an old man with a nice smile was standing in front of me.

Not surprised, not disturb, just calm. He looked at me and frowned slightly.

"Why are you crying, dear" he asked and stepped closer.

"Where am I?, who sent you?, were you sent to kill me?" I asked my pulse racing as I stepped backwards.

He smiled faintly "oh you don't remember, I'm not surprised, most of them don't" he said.

"Tell me who you are, and why are you keeping me" I launched at him trying not to act scared but deep down I was scared.

"Calm down child, you are safe here" he said.

"Just answer my question, where am I?" I asked once again.

"You're where your answers lie" he smiled.

"Get comfortable child, this is your new home" he said.

I finally managed to breathe. Looking around the mansion felt alive, like it was reacting to my presence.

The long hallways, multiple doors, stairs leading up and down. The place felt big, too big, too quiet, almost like someone was watching.

"Well, you know, I have a son, about your age or even older. He's not around now so feel free to wander about" he smiled and left. Minutes after the old man stepped out, I was driven by curiosity taking one step at a time until I reached the door. I clicked it open, trying not to be too loud.

I looked a lcross the hallway, it was tall, dark, glommy, like it hadn't been walked on for years.

I stepped further into the darkness part of me wanted to escape this place, another part of me wanted to know what this place was.

The grand hallways dimly lit with we'll organized but strange portraits hanging on the walls.

Then I noticed something, something strange. There were four rooms, old, dusty but mysterious. I looked up and down, I felt drawn to the rooms, something in me wanted to go in so I stepped closer and closer taking every step with a heavy heart.

I clicked once, twice but it was locked.

I heaved a sigh of relief and sprinted back to the room without turning back.

Night soon fell, outside at day was fog, in the distance ahead, no roads, no trees, just thick fog and now at night was darkness, total darkness. Staring into it was like blindness.

I buried my head in the pillow as tears flooded my eyes. First I was accused of killing my best friend after seeing a completely strange creature, then I was tied to be burnt up and was saved by someone who I could only see the eyes and was probably the same person who killed my best friend. And now I'm thinking of a way to escape this completely strange house which I don't know how I got in.

I was almost having a panic attack. My chest going up and down.

I turned facing up trying to catch my breath, my eyes darted around the ceiling. I was lost in thoughts then suddenly I noticed something but before I could process my thoughts, I felt a sharp pain from underneath my tongue, it was like a muxture of fire and ice.

The pain increased rapidly and I clutched my throat screaming. I suddenly I felt a strong impulse to pour it out and i followed my instincts, opening my mouth wide, emptiying it to the space ahead.

I covered my mouth gasping in shock, 'what did I just do', how did that happen.

I had breathe from both my mouth and nostrils fire, not just fire, but fire and frost.

Half was fire, half was frost.

'No, no no, what is happening to me, oh God' I was sweating profusely.

'What if I'm a monster' 'what if I'm the one who killed Kathie but can't remember Just like I can't remember coming here.

Then it happened, my breathing stiffened, my chest tight, I was on the floor gasping for breath.

I struggle on the ground, trying to reach anything, the will to live was still pushing.

My legs pushed up and down the luxurious carpet.

Then I saw it, in the frantic struggle I saw the red eyes fixed on me. They were looking at me, the same eyes but this time it had a body, though burried in darkness I could sense it.

I wasn't scared, I should be but I don't know why I wasn't. I looked at the figure, and stretched my hand signaling for him to help me as my vision blurred.

I regained consciousness slowly, my eyes felt heavy. I didn't feel like I was in the room, the environment was foggy, thick fog blurring my vision.

I got up. This was to much. Was I in a dream, or trapped between dimensions. I felt like I was going crazy.

I stepped deeper into the fog, then my eyes landed on something, amidst the blinding fog was something glowing, not just something, a lot of thing. Glowing around me were eyes, on the walls like they were hung, the same eyes, the same ones that killed my friend and saved me twiced.

The sight was drawing but terrifying.

Then I noticed something, inside the eyes, slightly close to the eye lids was a symbol.

It was the same symbol, the same one at the ceiling, the same one on the doors.
