A day later, Hiruzen sat at his desk doing paperwork, the bane of every Kage's existence. He then started to puff smoke from his pipe, staring at the endless stacks of parchment. Sometimes, he regretted even accepting Tobirama's offer. He was begging for something interesting to happen.
Little did he know that wish was about to be granted.
After a couple of minutes, the air shifted, and an ANBU appeared in the quiet office, wearing a wolf mask.
"Lord Hokage, we went to check on young Yamato and Chunin Kyochi. Yamato has disappeared, and Kyochi is dead."
Hiruzen's face contorted in shock before he asked, "Was there an invasion?"
"No, Lord Hokage. None that we can find, at least."
"Do we at least know who killed Chunin Kyochi?"
"Again, Lord Hokage, we don't know. The disappearance and death seem to have happened recently."
Hiruzen sighed heavily before asking his final questions.
"What happened to Yamato Kazuhiro? Have we found any trace of him?"
The wolf looked down at the office floor before saying, "When we investigated his room, we found nothing. It did seem like a battle had taken place, and there was also some blood on the floor that seemed to be hidden."
Hiruzen muttered after this, "Damn it."
The wolf mask asked in haste, "W-What's wrong, Lord Hokage?"
"Nothing. Just go back and investigate more. Perhaps you can find more clues."
"O-Okay, Lord Hokage."
And in a second, the wolf-masked ANBU vanished into thin air.
Hiruzen then stood up and looked out of his window, staring over the village. He thought to himself, 'Danzo, my old friend, did you really have to go that far just to get a talented kid?'
A couple of hours beforehand.
Now, we see Danzo as he's currently talking to one of his Root captains.
"Lord Danzo, it seems the mission that you gave to Root member 231 failed."
"What happened to Yamato Kazuhiro, then?" asked Danzo, his voice sounding completely indifferent.
"He disappeared after killing Root 231," the Root captain said. "After that, I'm guessing that Yamato Kazuhiro probably became a rogue ninja."
"What makes you say that?" inquired Danzo.
"We investigated around the village and found that Kyochi Uchiha died while doing a wall guard mission, and this happened on the same night that Yamato Kazuhiro disappeared," the captain explained. "The other Root members and I don't believe it's a coincidence, so we assume that he went rogue after killing the Uchiha."
Danzo nodded slowly. "Makes sense. Okay, Root Captain 5, you and your team will be assigned a mission to hunt for Yamato Kazuhiro. If you can't find him in a couple of days, come back to Root headquarters," commanded Danzo.
"Yes, Lord Danzo," said Root Captain 5, his voice sounding emotionless.
After saying those words, the Root captain disappeared using the Body Flicker Jutsu.
Danzo also used the Body Flicker Jutsu because it was currently nighttime for him, and he wanted to sleep. Everybody, even he, needs to sleep sometimes.
Back To The Present.
Yamato, after waking up, felt horrible; his body ached. Not only did he sleep on the ground, but he also trained for hours,
"I hate this already," said Yamato, pain still there. Even though he was complaining from the inside for a while, he still knew what he had to do
Training every day may suck, but I have to do it, to catch up to the original Yamato capabilities fast, I need to do this, thought Megumi, reassuring himself.
"I guess it's time for Water walking, hope it's easier."
