It eventually peters out and a few remaining bikers throw up their hands and give up. Two cops took bullets. One is a vest shot to a lady officer in uniform. Right in the tit. Fuck that's got to hurt. She's walking it off. The other is an arm graze for one of the late comers. All the police must put in some real range time. They destroyed those bikers. I'm especially impressed with the shooting from the ones that already smell of strong margaritas.
With effort, I'm pulled up and slammed against the wall. When the guy sees my full height, he immediately slaps some cuffs on me. He frisks me and finds nothing. Not even a wallet.
"Uh, I'm not with them. I could be one of those innocent bystanders you hear about."
"What's your name? Gimme your name!" His gun is still pointed at my chest. The other cops are locking down the surviving bikers and calling in the incident. The bleeding cop is holding a stack of paper napkins to his arm and cursing up a storm.
"...Sam." Damn it. "I refuse to speak to you without my lawyer present. If I had one."
One of the uniformed officers tosses some keys over and says, "Just lock him in my shop. It's parked out front. We can sort it out after medical and back up get here."
The bikers are trying to tell their stories as I'm led out to the cop car. The officers aren't having any of their shit, and their faces are being ground into the floor. I think they're supposed to render medical aid to the shot-up bikers, but it's hard to blame them when they don't. No body cams here in the 80s. I don't fight the officer at all as we go outside. I won't hurt a cop (directly) unless it's a last resort, or maybe if they're real dirty.
I'm pushed into the backseat and left there handcuffed. The cop heads back inside to help out his fellows. I'm thinking about what year they started being able to check for gunshot residue on hands and clothes. Can I store gunshot residue I can't even see in my Spatial Storage? Can I store my clothes while wearing them? How weird would it be if they found me in my boxers in the back seat? Do 80's cop cars have inside cameras? Do they work while the car is turned off?
I should try to figure all that out pretty quick. I can hear distant sirens, and back up will be here soon.
