The referee blew the whistle and the match kicked off.

1'

Galaxy kicked off. Alex dropped into the No. 10 pocket immediately. He received the ball with God's First Touch, killing it dead under the first wave of Portland's press. A quick body feint left the first midfielder wrong-footed, then a simple but precise pass released the winger down the right.

The commentator's voice rose: "Rivera starts the game calmly. After his masterclass in Portland, the 15-year-old with the record homegrown contract is once again the focal point as Galaxy push toward that Top 4 spot."

6'

Portland pressed aggressively as expected. Their two central midfielders closed in. Alex performed a quick Phantom Shadow Dribble — the after-image froze both players — then slipped a weighted through-ball into the channel. The full-back overlapped and delivered a low cross. The striker stretched but couldn't reach it. Corner kick.

9'

Galaxy won the corner. Alex stood over the ball. He delivered a dangerous inswinger with the outside of his right foot. A centre-back rose highest and headed it goalward. The Portland keeper parried it, but Alex was first to the rebound, smashing a low volley into the net.

1–0 Galaxy

The stadium exploded. "Ace! Ace! Ace!" rang out louder than ever. Teammates mobbed him. Delgado lifted him off the ground. "That's how we start, 33!"

The commentator shouted: "Alex Rivera opens the scoring again! Just nine minutes in and the kid is already making his mark. Galaxy lead 1-0 and send an early message in their push for Top 4."

14'

Portland responded with a high press. They won the ball in midfield and launched a quick counter. Alex tracked back 35 yards, made a perfectly timed sliding tackle, won the ball cleanly, and immediately played a simple pass to reset the attack. The crowd cheered the defensive work.

19'

Galaxy built patiently. Alex dropped deep, received the ball, and played a no-look pass that split the Portland midfield. The winger took it in stride and crossed low. The striker tapped it home from close range.

2–0 Galaxy

The home fans were on their feet again. The chant for Alex grew even louder. He celebrated calmly, pointing to the badge — a team effort.

25'

Portland pulled one back on a set-piece. A dangerous free-kick was whipped in and headed home. Score: 2–1 Galaxy

Alex immediately clapped his hands and called the team together. "Stay calm! We control the game. No panic."

31'

The game settled into a controlled rhythm. Alex was everywhere — dropping deep, receiving under pressure, and distributing with precision. He completed pass after pass with 94% accuracy, using short, sharp movements to conserve energy.

37'

Galaxy won another corner. Alex delivered another dangerous ball. The defence cleared it, but Alex won the second ball, drove forward, and played a perfectly weighted pass into the box. The striker finished low into the corner.

3–1 Galaxy

The commentator was impressed: "Rivera with another assist. The 15-year-old is dictating the tempo beautifully. Galaxy lead 3-1 and are looking very comfortable in their push up the Western Conference table."

42'

Portland tried one final attack before half-time. Alex intercepted a loose pass, used a quick step-over to evade the press, and launched a counter. The move ended with a shot from the edge of the box that the keeper saved comfortably.

Half-Time Score: LA Galaxy 3 – 1 Portland Timbers

The players walked off to a standing ovation from the home fans. In the locker room, Coach Morales was pleased but focused.

"Excellent first half," he said. "We lead 3-1 and have controlled the game exactly as planned. But Portland will come out fighting in the second half. Stay disciplined. Alex — you've been outstanding. Keep the same tempo. We need these three points to keep climbing toward Top 4."

The second half was coming. The long, disciplined climb continued.
