Chapter 31 - Chapter 31:  Contract signing

Alex Rivera sat in the passenger seat of Coach Harlan's black SUV as they pulled into the LA Galaxy Youth Academy administration building. The morning sun glinted off the glass walls, and for the first time since the rebirth, the weight of the moment felt real enough to touch. He was wearing a simple black tracksuit with the Galaxy crest on the chest. No faded Inglewood jersey today. This was official.

Inside his head, the thoughts never stopped.

This is the door. Once I walk through it and sign, there's no going back to the small pitch in Inglewood. No more hiding behind "local phenom." The media already has my name. They already have rumors about Emma. Messi and Ronaldo were teenagers when they started their legends. I died watching them while I was nobody. Today I start writing my own story. The system gave me the tools, but the fire is mine.

Coach Harlan parked and turned to him. "You ready, Alex? This is a two-year Youth Contract with options. Full academy integration, stipend, housing support for your family if needed, and a clear pathway to the first team. They're excited about you."

Alex nodded, voice steady. "I'm ready."

They walked into the modern conference room together. Three Galaxy officials waited: the Youth Academy Director, the Head of Player Development, and a lawyer with the contract papers already laid out on the table. A large screen on the wall showed a live feed of the training pitches outside.

The Director smiled and shook Alex's hand firmly. "Alex Rivera. You made quite an impression in your first friendly. Two goals and an assist after coming back from 2-0 down. That kind of leadership at fifteen is rare. We're offering you a full Youth Professional Contract — $1,200 weekly stipend during the trial period, rising to $2,500 once fully integrated, plus performance bonuses, full medical, and family relocation assistance if you want your parents closer to the facility."

Alex listened carefully, his mind racing with numbers and possibilities. The money would change everything for the family. The shop was doing well, but this would lift them higher. He thought about Mom's tired eyes when the medical debt was still crushing them, Dad's pride when the "Rivera Sports" sign went up, Mia's excitement about wearing a Galaxy jersey with his name on it.

The lawyer slid the papers across the table. "Standard clauses. You keep your NIL rights for now, but we have first refusal on major endorsements. Training commitment is full-time. School will be handled online through our partnership. Any questions?"

Alex leaned forward, eyes sharp. "One question. If I perform, how fast can I push for the first team?"

The Director smiled. "We've had players your age make the jump in eighteen months. Keep performing like you did against San Diego and we'll fast-track you."

Alex picked up the pen. For a second he paused, letting the moment sink in.

This is the leap. From Inglewood to Galaxy. From local hero to professional prospect. The system is still secret. The scandals are starting. The playboy life with Emma is mine. I will enjoy every part of it. And I will become greater than the legends I watched on TV.

He signed.

The room erupted in handshakes and congratulations. Coach Harlan clapped him on the back. "Welcome to the family, kid. Official as of today."

As they stepped out of the building, the media storm hit.

A small group of reporters and cameras waited at the entrance — more than Alex expected. Word had clearly spread fast. Microphones were thrust forward before he could even reach the car.

"Alex Rivera! First official contract with LA Galaxy Youth — how does it feel to go from Inglewood parks to the professional pathway?"

Alex kept his voice calm and polite. "It feels like the start of something bigger. I'm grateful to the academy and to my family for the support."

Another reporter jumped in, voice sharper. "There are already viral posts and photos circulating online of a blonde woman seen leaving your games and training sessions. Fans are calling her 'Ace's Mystery Blonde.' Any comment on the rumors that the new Galaxy prospect already has a very active personal life off the field?"

The question landed like a punch. Alex felt the heat rise in his chest, but his face stayed neutral. The scandal was no longer a whisper — it was public.

He answered smoothly, exactly as he had practiced in his head. "My focus is 100% on football and becoming the best player I can be for this academy. Everything else stays private. Thank you."

He kept walking toward the car, but the cameras followed. Phones were already out, recording every word. One reporter shouted after him, "Is it true the mystery blonde was at the Santa Monica game? Are we looking at the first Galaxy scandal of the year?"

Alex slid into the passenger seat without another word. Coach Harlan started the engine and drove off quickly.

Inside the car, Alex stared out the window at the passing palm trees. The system remained completely silent and secret, but the weight of the moment settled over him.

They already know her face. Or at least they're trying to. This is the price of the life I chose. The pitch, the money, the fame, the women, the scandals. I want all of it. No more regret from 2024. I will live it fully — and I will still become the greatest.

His phone buzzed. A text from Emma:

"Saw the clip online already. You handled it perfectly. Proud of you. When you're free tonight… I'll help you forget the cameras."

A small smile tugged at his lips.

The contract was signed. The media storm had begun. The second life was no longer quiet.

It was accelerating.
