Chapter 6 - Chapter 7: The Alpha Comes for His mate

The air shifted.

Nyra felt it before she understood it.

That same strange pull—

But different this time.

Sharp.

Unsettling.

Familiar.

She froze mid-step, her breath catching.

"…Do you feel that?" she whispered.

Ronan, standing a few feet away, went completely still.

His expression darkened instantly.

"Oh, I feel it," he said quietly.

Nyra's chest tightened.

"What is it?"

Ronan's eyes lifted toward the edge of the forest.

"Trouble."

A low growl echoed through the trees.

Not from one wolf.

From many.

The ground seemed to hum beneath their presence.

Nyra's heart began to pound.

Then—

They appeared.

Dark figures emerging from the shadows, one by one. Strong. Armed. Controlled.

Pack warriors.

And at the center of them—

Him.

Alpha Kael Draven.

Nyra's breath stopped.

For a moment, the world fell silent again—just like the night of the ceremony.

But this time—

Something was different.

She wasn't the same girl anymore.

Kael's eyes locked onto hers instantly.

Sharp.

Intense.

Searching.

Relieved.

And something else—

Something darker.

Possessive.

"You," Ronan's voice cut in smoothly, stepping slightly in front of Nyra.

Kael's gaze shifted.

Cold.

Deadly.

"Ronan."

The name was nothing more than a quiet warning.

The tension between them snapped tight instantly.

Nyra felt it like a storm about to break.

"Came all this way," Ronan said casually, though his body was anything but relaxed. "You must be desperate."

Kael didn't respond to the taunt.

His eyes returned to Nyra.

"Come here."

The command was quiet.

But absolute.

Nyra's chest tightened.

That voice—

That authority—

It used to control her.

But now?

She didn't move.

Ronan smirked slightly.

"Looks like she's not listening to you anymore."

Kael's expression darkened.

"I wasn't talking to you."

Ronan shrugged.

"Shame. Because she's not yours to command."

Silence.

Deadly.

Heavy.

Kael stepped forward.

The ground seemed to react to his presence.

"She is my mate," he said coldly.

Nyra flinched.

The words hit her like a memory she didn't want.

Mate.

Rejected.

Broken.

Her hands clenched slightly.

Ronan let out a low chuckle.

"Was," he corrected.

Kael's eyes flashed dangerously.

"I don't remember asking for your opinion."

Ronan's smile faded.

"And I don't remember caring."

The air between them cracked with pure Alpha dominance.

Nyra's breath quickened.

The pressure—

It was intense.

Two powerful Alphas.

Clashing.

Fighting for control.

And her.

"Nyra."

Kael's voice softened slightly this time.

It caught her off guard.

"Come back," he said.

Something twisted in her chest.

For a second—

She hesitated.

And Ronan noticed.

Of course he did.

His gaze darkened.

"Careful," he said quietly, not taking his eyes off Kael. "You already know what happens when you trust him."

The memory hit hard.

The rejection.

The pain.

The humiliation.

Nyra's expression hardened.

She took a step—

But not toward Kael.

She stepped beside Ronan.

Kael went completely still.

The shift was small.

But the message was clear.

Nyra lifted her chin slightly.

"I'm not going anywhere," she said.

Silence.

Then—

Something in Kael snapped.

"You think you belong here?" he said, his voice dropping dangerously. "With him?"

Nyra met his gaze.

"For now?" she replied calmly. "Yes."

The words hit harder than any attack.

Ronan smirked.

Kael didn't.

His eyes darkened with something far more dangerous than anger.

Regret.

Possession.

And fury.

"You don't understand what you are," he said.

Nyra's eyes flashed.

"Then explain it to me," she shot back. "Because you didn't seem interested before."

That landed.

Hard.

The warriors behind Kael shifted uncomfortably.

Even Ronan glanced at her slightly.

Impressed.

Kael exhaled slowly.

Like he was holding something back.

"Nyra," he said, his voice quieter now. "This isn't your place."

Nyra felt it again.

That pull.

But it didn't control her anymore.

It just… existed.

"You don't get to decide that," she said.

Silence.

Then—

Ronan stepped forward.

"Alright," he said, cracking his neck slightly. "This has been entertaining."

His eyes locked onto Kael's.

"But if you're done talking…"

The air dropped.

Cold.

Sharp.

"Leave."

Kael didn't move.

"Or what?" he asked.

Ronan smiled.

Dark.

Dangerous.

"Or I make you."

That was it.

The final line.

Kael moved first.

Fast.

Too fast for normal eyes to follow.

Ronan met him halfway.

The impact—

It shook the ground.

A shockwave burst outward, forcing the surrounding wolves to step back.

Nyra's heart slammed violently against her chest.

Power.

Raw.

Uncontrolled.

Two Alphas.

Fighting.

And she—

She could feel it.

That energy inside her…

Reacting.

Rising.

Calling.

Her eyes flickered—

Silver.

Dark.

Unstable.

"Stop…" she whispered.

But they didn't.

They couldn't.

Because this wasn't just a fight anymore.

It was a war.

And she—

Was at the center of it.
