Chapter 52 - Chapter 54:The Rise Of The Forgotten

The night split open with a roar.

It wasn't the kind of sound that belonged to wolves.

It was deeper.

Older.

Like something buried long before the Moonborn ever existed had finally clawed its way back to the surface.

The ground beneath the temple trembled violently, cracks spreading like veins through the stone paths outside. Warriors scrambled into formation, their instincts screaming danger even before their eyes could confirm it.

Darius stepped forward, his presence shifting instantly into full Alpha command.

"Form the inner line!" he ordered. "No one breaks rank!"

His voice cut through the chaos, steady and powerful.

But even he could feel it—

This wasn't a normal fight.

Behind him, Lyra walked out of the temple.

And everything changed.

The air itself seemed to react to her.

Her aura flowed quietly around her—silver and black in perfect balance, no longer fighting, no longer unstable. It didn't explode with power like before.

It settled.

Like a force that no longer needed to prove itself.

The warriors closest to her instinctively stepped back, not out of fear—

But instinctive respect.

Or something closer to awe.

Darius glanced at her briefly, his jaw tightening.

He still wasn't used to this version of her.

And that uncertainty sat heavily in his chest.

Another roar tore through the night.

Closer this time.

The forest beyond the temple gates began to shift—trees bending unnaturally, shadows stretching too far, too long.

Then—

They appeared.

At first, it looked like darkness itself was moving.

But as they stepped into the moonlight, their forms became clear.

Creatures.

Massive.

Twisted.

Wolf-like… but wrong.

Their bodies were larger than any Alpha, their limbs elongated, their claws dragging against the ground like blades. Their fur wasn't fur at all—it looked like shifting shadows, constantly moving across their skin.

And their eyes—

Glowed a deep, hollow red.

Not silver.

Not gold.

Not natural.

A warrior near the front line whispered, his voice shaking, "What… are those?"

The shadow behind Lyra answered softly.

"Forgotten."

Lyra's gaze hardened. "Explain."

The shadow's tone was almost nostalgic.

"Before the balance… before the Moonborn… there were others who tried to wield both light and darkness."

A pause.

"They failed."

The creatures let out a synchronized growl, low and bone-chilling.

"Power without control," the shadow continued. "They were consumed… twisted into something that could not belong to either side."

Darius clenched his fists. "And now they're here."

"They have always been here," the shadow corrected. "Just… sealed."

Lyra's eyes narrowed slightly.

"And now the seal is breaking."

As if in response—

The largest of the creatures stepped forward.

It towered over the others, its presence suffocating, its red eyes locking directly onto Lyra.

Not Darius.

Not the warriors.

Her.

It exhaled slowly, a dark mist escaping its mouth.

Then it spoke.

"Yes…"

Its voice was rough, broken… like it hadn't been used in centuries.

"But the seal was never meant to hold forever."

The warriors froze.

Darius stepped forward, placing himself slightly in front of Lyra again. "You don't get another step."

The creature's head tilted.

Amused.

"You feel it, don't you?" it said, ignoring him. "The same power… the same pull…"

Lyra didn't respond immediately.

But her aura shifted—just slightly.

The creature's grin widened.

"She is like us."

"No," Darius snapped. "She's nothing like you."

The creature's gaze flicked to him briefly.

Then back to Lyra.

"That is what you believe."

Silence stretched.

Tense.

Heavy.

Then—

The creature lunged.

Everything exploded into motion.

"MOVE!" Darius roared.

The front line clashed instantly as the creatures surged forward, their speed unnatural, their strength overwhelming. Warriors were thrown back, claws tearing through defenses like they weren't there.

Chaos erupted.

But Lyra—

Didn't move.

Not at first.

She watched.

Felt.

Understood.

The creatures weren't attacking blindly.

They were drawn.

To her.

Another one broke through the line, rushing straight toward her with a feral snarl.

Darius moved instantly to intercept—

But Lyra raised her hand.

"Don't."

The word wasn't loud.

But it carried power.

The creature reached her—

And stopped.

Mid-attack.

Its claws hovered inches from her.

Its entire body trembling.

Darius froze, shock flashing across his face.

Lyra stepped closer.

Unafraid.

Her eyes locked with the creature's glowing red ones.

For a moment—

Everything went silent.

Then her aura flared.

Not violently.

But deeply.

Silver and black pulsed outward in a controlled wave.

The creature let out a painful growl, dropping to its knees.

Submitting.

The others faltered.

One by one—

They slowed.

Hesitated.

Confused.

The massive leader snarled, stepping forward again.

"No…" it growled. "You are not… complete…"

Lyra's voice was calm.

Steady.

"I'm more complete than you ever were."

The creature roared in rage and charged again—

But this time—

Lyra moved.

In a flash, she was in front of it.

Faster than anyone could track.

Her hand pressed against its chest.

And the world seemed to pause.

Energy surged.

Blinding.

Terrifying.

Beautiful.

The creature screamed.

Its body twisting, shadows tearing away from its form as silver light forced its way through.

The ground shook violently.

Darius shielded his eyes, barely able to stand against the force.

"Lyra, stop!" he shouted. "You don't know what that will do!"

But Lyra didn't stop.

Her voice cut through the chaos.

"I do."

The creature's roar turned into something else—

Pain.

Release.

Then—

Silence.

Its body collapsed.

Still.

The red glow in its eyes faded.

Gone.

The battlefield froze.

Every creature.

Every warrior.

Every breath.

Lyra stood at the center of it all.

Unmoving.

Her aura slowly settling once more.

Behind her, the shadow whispered—

Not amused this time.

But impressed.

"You didn't destroy it…"

A pause.

"You freed it."

Lyra's eyes remained fixed ahead.

"Yes."

The remaining creatures began to retreat.

Slowly.

Uncertain.

Afraid.

The balance had shifted.

Completely.

Darius stepped forward, his voice low, filled with something between awe and concern.

"What are you becoming…?"

Lyra didn't turn.

But her answer came, quiet and undeniable.

"Something they can't control."
