The chamber groaned under the weight of the collapsing temple. Stones fell from the ceiling, dust filling the air, but Lyra's silver aura cut through it like a beacon.
The beast—the first Alpha—raged below, thrashing against Kael's control. Each swing of its massive limbs tore chunks of stone from the floor and walls. The entire Moonborn vault shook with each step it took.
Kael clung to its back, crimson energy surging from his claws into its flesh. His grin was wide, but there was desperation in his eyes.
"You will obey me!" Kael roared. "You will destroy her!"
The beast bellowed, shaking Kael violently. For a moment, the crimson glow faltered. Lyra saw her chance.
Her silver aura flared, brighter than ever before. She raised both hands and channeled the Heart of the Moonborn's energy outward.
"Enough!" she shouted.
A wave of silver light blasted from her, striking the first Alpha directly. The creature froze mid-roar, chains of moonlight wrapping around its massive body like binding ropes.
Kael screamed in fury as the silver light pushed him off the beast's back. He landed hard against a shattered pillar, knocking the breath out of him.
Lyra stepped forward, her silver eyes blazing.
"You were betrayed, yes. But I will not let your anger destroy everything."
The beast's fiery eyes flickered between rage and recognition. It growled low, scanning Lyra.
Her wolf whispered:
It remembers…
Lyra raised her voice.
"Return to rest! The chains are no longer my enemy—they are mine to command!"
The silver chains wrapped themselves completely around the first Alpha, glowing brighter and tighter with every heartbeat. The creature roared once more—louder than before—but this time, its movements slowed.
Kael screamed, pounding the floor with his fists.
"No! This power isn't yours! The Heart belongs to me!"
Lyra's aura surged again. The runes across the chamber walls flared to life. The temple itself responded to her command.
"Kael," she said calmly, though her voice echoed like thunder, "you will never control the Heart. Not me. Not this world."
The chains of moonlight constricted further, wrapping around the beast until it sank to its knees, then bowed its massive head in submission. Its fiery eyes softened, glowing faintly silver.
Kael's crimson aura flared one last time. He tried to leap toward Lyra, but the silver energy surrounding her formed a protective barrier. He slammed into it, shrieking in fury, before sliding to the floor, exhausted and defeated.
Darius rushed forward, his black wolf at his side, circling protectively around Lyra.
"You did it," he said quietly, awe in his voice.
Lyra glanced at the chained beast. Its massive head turned slightly toward her. It gave a low, rumbling sound—a mix of respect and acknowledgment.
The temple trembled one last time as the Heart of the Moonborn pulsed, sealing the first Alpha's chains permanently once more. The ancient magic of the Moonborn had recognized its true heir.
Kael lay on the floor, breathing heavily, crimson energy flickering weakly around him. His eyes burned with hatred, but he no longer had the strength to rise.
Lyra stepped forward, silver aura expanding around her like a shield and a crown.
"This temple, this power… it exists to protect, not to destroy. And I am its heir."
Darius placed a steadying hand on her shoulder.
"You've truly awakened," he said softly.
Lyra looked at the glowing Heart within her chest.
"And now," she whispered, "we rebuild."
Outside, the clouds parted. Moonlight poured into the ruined temple, bathing the chamber in silver radiance. The Moonborn legacy had returned—and this time, it would not be broken.
But somewhere deep within the shadows of the collapsing ruins, Kael's crimson eyes burned with a quiet, simmering hatred.
He had been defeated… for now.
But the war was far from over
