Returning to the valley, Zenji immediately began his experiments.
Using cells from Might Duy's body as embryonic material, he started constructing a new vessel.
"Toji Fushiguro's Heavenly Restriction traded all Cursed Energy for an overwhelmingly powerful physique." His consciousness sank into the purple sphere of light.
The jujutsu system operated on a special principle: placing restrictions upon oneself to gain corresponding strength or self-amplification.
Unlike acquired restrictions, Heavenly Restriction was innate—a forced limitation imposed from birth.
Toji Fushiguro's version had caused him, despite being born into a jujutsu sorcerer family, to possess absolutely zero Cursed Energy.
In exchange, he'd gained an incomparably powerful body, superhuman athletic ability, and drastically enhanced senses.
The physical strength granted by this restriction was formidable in the Jujutsu Kaisen world—but insufficient for the Naruto world.
It couldn't even compare to Might Duy with the Eight Inner Gates fully opened.
"Self-restriction..." Zenji's eyes narrowed. "These two concepts seem incompatible—fire and water. But if one key point is resolved, they could actually complement each other. Become something greater."
That key point: making the Heavenly Restriction's forced effect controllable.
The entry for the Eight Inner Gates lit up in the Book of Ages. Detailed information flooded his mind.
The Eight Gates were convergence points along the chakra meridians—inherent structures in every ninja's body. They functioned as suppressors and limiters, controlling excess chakra flow.
The Eight Inner Gates technique exploited this characteristic. Through self-restriction and intensive training, it strengthened the Gates while conditioning the body to endure overloads.
When needed, the practitioner could temporarily release massive amounts of chakra, creating explosive enhancement.
"If the self-restriction were more thorough—reaching the state of Heavenly Restriction—base physical attributes would become even stronger."
"But how do I reach that point?"
Zenji began modifications based on the information about Toji Fushiguro's body and Heavenly Restriction contained in the purple sphere.
Soon, a bodily embryo took shape. The moment Yin-Yang Release chakra manifested within it, however, the energy began dissipating.
The embryo changed according to the restriction. Chakra vanished bit by bit.
The process was extraordinarily fast. Within moments, no chakra existed within the embryo.
But then the embryo began withering.
"As expected. The essence of chakra in this world is physical and spiritual energy—fundamentally different from Cursed Energy." Zenji frowned in thought.
Cursed Energy was power extracted from negative emotions. Lacking it didn't affect the person themselves.
Chakra was entirely different. Whether circulating through meridians or existing in its primitive state, it formed through the mixture and conversion of spiritual and physical energy.
Those two energies were themselves components of chakra. If chakra disappeared entirely, those energies disappeared with it.
And no human could survive losing them.
"Direct copying is a dead end. I need to modify the conversion stage—or even the mixing step itself."
Zenji restarted the experiment, focusing solely on chakra mechanics this time.
He lost count of how many attempts he made. All failures.
Preventing the generation of ninjutsu chakra in the meridians was simple enough. But the primitive state—the automatic mixing—couldn't be stopped.
The fusion of physical and spiritual energy seemed to be an innate rule of existence. As long as both energies existed within the same body, they would mix and form primitive chakra.
"How can I prevent them from mixing without affecting the energies themselves?"
He frowned deeply, feeling his thoughts hit a wall. No solution presented itself.
Continuing to search for ways to prevent the mixing seemed futile. This primitive chakra state was likely connected to the God Tree—perhaps even to the world itself. Far beyond his current ability to influence.
"Is there another approach?"
Zenji paused his experiments, preparing to walk through the valley and clear his mind.
Suddenly, a subtle fluctuation rippled through the barrier. His expression darkened.
"Again."
He quickened his pace toward the valley's center, where numerous small wooden cabins stood in neat rows.
Arriving at one particular cabin, he pushed the door open and stepped inside.
Seven distinctively shaped ninja swords were bound to the central pillar.
Traces of spatial power were attempting to penetrate the barrier and summon the weapons away.
Among them, the greatsword Samehada struggled continuously. Its massive mouth full of fangs snapped and bit at the air, clearly furious.
"I only extracted a little chakra. Is this really necessary—"
Before Zenji could finish his complaint, a thought struck him like lightning.
"If there's no way to prevent the mixing of primitive chakra... then I'll simply devour the chakra as it's generated. As long as the entire process is tightly integrated, wouldn't that effectively create a body with no chakra?"
His eyes lit up. Following this thread of inspiration, he thought of his own deteriorating body.
That characteristic of uncontrollably generating chakra. The cell membranes' ability to attract and store it. If he absorbed Samehada's traits, perhaps he could solve his own problem.
Samehada could devour and absorb other people's chakra to heal its wielder.
It could even use stored chakra to achieve cellular regeneration—directly regrowing missing body parts.
"Unfortunately, my current cells have already aged. Regenerating like that would only accelerate my death."
He shook his head slightly.
If this had been when he first arrived in the Naruto world, it would have made an excellent temporary solution. His cells had still been young then.
Zenji reached out and grabbed Samehada. It thrashed wildly, sharp scales bristling outward.
His chakra-coated hand forcibly smoothed down the spikes. The sword's relatively primitive soul structure and physical form materialized in his perception.
Despite being called a sword, Samehada was actually a living creature.
Zenji's abilities fell squarely within Idle Transfiguration's scope. He systematically analyzed and catalogued its structure.
"So that's how it works."
Realization dawned. He turned and left the room. Behind him, Samehada struggled even more violently, as if deeply offended.
Returning to the laboratory, Zenji began a new experiment.
He approached the stone platform where Might Duy's corpse lay preserved. Barrier energy converted to Yang Release chakra maintained the flesh's vitality.
Zenji extracted tissue samples from Duy's body, then retrieved a sample of his own young cellular material from a nearby cultivation pod.
Blue-white light emanated from his hands, enveloping both pieces of flesh.
Vitality poured in continuously. The Polymorphic Soul Isomer technique allowed the two cell types to merge perfectly.
Samehada's structure was ingeniously embedded within, and gradually, a male body took shape.
Aside from slightly thicker eyebrows, the facial features were almost identical to Toji Fushiguro.
Through his blue-tinted vision, Zenji observed the results.
One hundred thirty trillion cells. Meridian convergence points forming the Eight Gates. Powerful physical energy and a small amount of brain-generated spiritual energy filled the body—yet they didn't mix at all.
Or rather, all primitive chakra that formed was instantly absorbed and converted into Yang Release chakra capable of healing the body.
One portion transformed entirely into vitality-like power suffusing every cell. The other portion flowed into the Eight Gates.
And under Zenji's modifications, those Gates had become something entirely unique.
Because they now possessed characteristics of Barrier Techniques.
