[Congratulations, Dhruv, you have become the owner of the dungeon: Dungeon of Greed.]
For a few seconds, Dhruv didn't know what to feel about this achievement. Should he be happy, sad, surprised, or what, now that he had apparently become the owner of a dungeon?
'Dungeon!?... owner! Me?' Looking at the panel, he couldn't figure out how things had turned out like this.
'Is it because of the sigil?…'
Remembering the distinct shock he had felt after touching the sigil, Dhruv was about to nod his head, but stopped.
'Hmm! Now that I remember… didn't I already have the dungeon master authority? If I became the dungeon master because of the authority, then why is it announcing it now? And if I became the master now, how did I have the authority with the dungeon master to begin with?'
He was in the midst of trying to find which was the trigger of what, when something happened around him.
Shake!!...
Crunch!!
Along with the sound of something getting crushed and remodeled, he could feel a tremor beneath his feet.
'What is it...'
Thinking so, he began moving toward the sound when the frequency of the tremor increased significantly.
Shit..
Frowning, Dhruv hurriedly tried running in the opposite direction of the shaking. And the moment he did, a realization struck him.
'What the fuck?'
He was once again rooted to his place. This time he wasn't even properly on the ground and instead was levitating a few centimeters above the surface.
The vibration which was coming from a single direction a moment ago had spread all around him. Just moments later the world began to change in front of his very eyes.
Crack!!
Clank!
Dhruv saw things getting destroyed, new things getting added, and a hundred more things. Amidst his observation a sudden blinding light appeared, forcing him to close his eyes.
Not being able to do something ignited the curiosity within him and a strange itch appeared, whispering to him to open his eyes and gaze upon the changes happening all around the cave.
He was about to open his eyes when a chill ran down his spine. His instincts, which had been trained against hundreds of fights for survival, were preventing him from doing it. They were practically screaming in his ears.
Keeping the cat in its bag, Dhruv shut his eyes completely. In fact he was mercilessly putting pressure on his eyelids so they wouldn't open by mistake.
'Nahh! Man. This damn curiosity of mine almost got my cat killed… better to live than be six feet underground…. Huh! If I think about it… ain't I already six feet underground…' Dhruv thought sarcastically.
With nothing more to do, his mind began thinking about the dungeon he had just become the master of.
'Dungeon of greed... did I really die and get transported into another world. A world of fantasy. A world with dungeons no less.'
Remembering the two or three books he had read about something similar, Dhruv couldn't help but smile for the first time.
Will there be dragons... elves maybe!? Huh! What about fairies… hmmm! Succubus… Would be great if that were to be the case?... Licking his lips, he thought about many more opportunities this world could provide him.
As he was thinking about this fantastical world, Dhruv suddenly remembered his own. And the moment he did so, the scene of betrayal played right in front of his eyes.
'Ugh!'
Remembering the look his partners were giving him while shooting couldn't help but make him hate them with pure passion.
'I will find a way to kill those fucking bastards…' Promising himself that, he thought of the major obstacle before that, '...but first there has to be a way to return to my own world. There must be a way? And to find a way I've to get out of this godforsaken cave first.'
Dhruv was intrigued by what he had experienced so far in this world, but in the end it wasn't his own. It would be a great place to be for a long time... but he couldn't be here forever. Deep down, he wanted nothing more than to get back to his own.
'...the moment I get there it will be your last...'
Shaking his head, he tried forgetting about them and instead spent his energy on thinking about better things. And what better way to start than some experimentation.
'Hmm! I can access the system even with eyes closed... now that's what I call a great setting…' Nodding his head, he looked at the timer. There was still one and a half minutes left before the upgrade.
'Show me the previous notification.' He thought to himself and the system did what it was told.
'So I can command it with my mind alone. Good.'
Dhruv was about to think about other things when everything around him had stopped moving. The tremor was gone and there wasn't any sound either.
'Is it over!?...' He could feel it had ended but he still didn't open his eyes for another minute, 'Better safe than sorry.'
And now that his instincts weren't going haywire he found it safe to open his eyes.
'Shall we take a peek...' Not knowing what to expect, Dhruv opened his eyes slowly.
Even with the slightest opening, he could see the first change. The cave, it wasn't pitch black anymore.
'Finally some light...' Wondering where the light was coming from, he opened his eyes fully. With a wave of light came amazement at the sight he was seeing.
"Oye oye... would you look at that."
Dhruv muttered in amazement as he found the once-boring cave transformed into something else entirely. The change had happened with such great magnitude that he didn't even know where to begin.
First of all, the hard stone surface was no more, and instead, in its place lay something else. Now the floor looked strikingly clean — polished even — with strange rune-like patterns all around it.
He could feel some meaning behind those patterns but was still a little lost about it.
Not only that, now its high ceiling was crowned by a grand chandelier that glimmered softly with dim light. And at the very far end of the hall, slightly raised above the floor, stood a throne.
A throne so striking that Dhruv couldn't help but move toward it instinctively. A sudden and strange sense of greed appeared in his mind as he looked at it. Even when there was nothing around it he feared that someone might steal it or damage its beauty.
Dhruv wanted nothing more than to protect it in all its glory. Appreciating its beauty, he hastened his feet.
Made completely out of gold, the throne had a high back decorated with detailed carvings and patterns. The armrests and legs were thick with a few gems here and there.
Reaching it, he touched the armrest slightly and stood there blankly for a while.
Suddenly, a smile appeared on his face as he turned and sat upon it.
'Should have presented the master notification by now...'
Jokingly, he put his left leg upon the right and looked at the room with a smirk. He was still in the middle of getting the feel of it when the System announced.
[The upgrade has been completed.Dhruv, you can see your status.]
