Chapter 117 - Chapter 117: A Turning Point

After exploring several other unfruitful rooms in the vault, Nefarian finally found a significant location: the library.

The library was enormous, with towering bookshelves cast from black metal, deeply embedded in the rock walls, extending upwards in layers, almost reaching the ceiling.

However, the bookshelves appeared unusually sparse; most areas were empty, with only a few scattered, dust-covered stone tablets or damaged scrolls.

Many bookshelves clearly showed signs of violent clearing, toppled over and in disarray.

The air was filled with the scent of stale paper, rusted metal, and faint residual arcane energy.

Nefarian spent a great deal of time carefully sifting through the surviving fragments of information.

He discovered more chilling records of the early Dracthyr experiments, as well as his father Neltharion's almost obsessive exploration notes on elemental and Void powers.

Between the lines, there was an intense yearning for "greater," "more perfect," and "beyond limits."

These materials allowed Nefarian to mentally picture his father's state at the time: Neltharion had deeply contacted and become obsessed with the knowledge and power of the Old Gods, his thoughts dangerously skewed, his pursuit of power becoming unscrupulous, and his experiments increasingly cruel.

However, the logical chain in his records remained clear, his goal explicit—to create the ultimate weapon of war, to acquire greater power to "guard" the world in his heart.

Even that awkward "hymn" skit implied that deep down, he still yearned to protect his siblings and gain their approval.

"Power corrupted his mind, but had not yet completely destroyed his reason," Nefarian thought to himself, putting away a scroll.

His father slid into the abyss while still conscious, which was precisely the most tragic part.

However, the true turning point seemed to have been deliberately erased.

All crucial records concerning the Dracthyr's loss of control, "that great war," and subsequent decisions were either reduced to mere fragments or completely destroyed.

It was as if an invisible hand had violently torn out the most critical page.

Just as Nefarian thought his findings were limited to this and was about to leave this silent library, his Dragon Claw inadvertently brushed against a metal kickplate at the bottom of a bookshelf.

The kickplate, already loose, slid inward with a "clank," revealing an inconspicuous hidden compartment behind the wall.

The compartment contained no books or scrolls, only a dormant ultra-long-range communication runestone.

Nefarian immediately took it out and carefully read the historical information remaining within.

This appeared to be a communication log between a Black Dragon named Adamanthea and Neltharion.

She was also ordered to guard the Dracthyr's seal—just like the three Blue Dragons outside.

But clearly, she was more lucid, carrying her own thoughts while executing the Guardian Dragon's orders.

The records showed that she initially only cautiously doubted her father's method of sealing the Dracthyr; later, this doubt gradually intensified, until she openly protested.

After confirming that the Dracthyr's minds could no longer be controlled by "Titan" magic, she believed they should trust their free will.

This should have been a miraculous moment to break through the limitations of dragons, embracing more life forms and mortal wisdom.

But in Neltharion's eyes, incomplete control over the Dracthyr was complete loss of control.

Adamanthea tried to protect them, striving for the revival and freedom of even a few individuals.

However, her ideas were coldly suppressed.

"Your suffering will last for a thousand years, and death will not release you." Deathwing's final reply was as cold as iron, chilling to the bone.

At the end of the communication stone, a map of the Forbidden Isolated Island was attached.

On the map, a prominent red cross clearly marked the location of a domed building.

Evidently, Adamanthea was sealed there.

"This seems to have been deliberately left here by someone, wanting others to discover this and save her."

Nefarian could figure this out with his toes, but who left it here?

He had no clue for now.

Nefarian put away the communication stone, his gaze sweeping across the empty library.

There were many other places to explore in the Zskera Vault, but their value was clearly not as high as this intelligence.

His current objective should shift to Adamanthea.

As his father's assistant at the time, she must know more critical information.

Nefarian suppressed the urge to continue studying his father's relics, turned around, activated the teleportation, returned to the Central Hall, and then rushed out of the Zskera Vault gate without stopping.
