Chapter 124 - Chapter 124: I Am a Law-Abiding Citizen

Durin took the tram from the Jindai Luo Sphere plaza back to Vocal Avenue in the Harbor District.

After getting off the tram, he walked straight towards his residence, arriving in about ten minutes.

The tavern, called "Night Party," was located near Durin's house.

He pulled open the iron door of the tavern.

Soft music leaked through the door. Durin entered the tavern and found its decor quite vintage, with a medieval feel, forming a stark contrast with Piltover's modern style.

On both sides of the tavern were square tables and wooden chairs. Some people were slumped asleep at tables in the corners, and a few heavily drunk patrons were leaning back on the sofa seating in the corners, slurring obscenities as they flirted with the curvaceous hostess.

Behind the bar stood a simple wine cabinet that reached the ceiling. A sign hung on the cabinet, with the words "Burden of Sorrow" written crookedly on it.

"Welcome to Night Party Tavern. Fighting is prohibited in this establishment, and please use polite language when communicating with others."

"Polite language, my ass!"

"Haha, right!"

"Polite language here… Ugh! Is just for bullshitting!"

The noisy tavern was quite crowded, with about thirty people.

Durin squeezed through the crowd and finally found an empty seat, which he took.

A curvaceous, fair-skinned hostess walked towards Durin and said with a smile, "Hello, Mage sir, what would you like to eat?"

Durin held the menu, flipped through it once, and said, "One fried rice, about 6 pieces of boneless fried chicken, and a large glass of iced oolong tea."

"Okay, that will be 10 copper circle coins in total," the hostess said with a slight bow towards Durin, revealing her fair chest and deep cleavage, smiling.

After ordering, Durin observed the other customers around him. Most of them were wearing short-sleeved shirts and long pants, clinking glasses. Even with music playing in the tavern, it couldn't mask their laughter.

At a table to Durin's upper left sat a couple. They seemed very sweet; even with soft music playing in the tavern, they were whispering to each other, a picture of mutual affection.

Durin, dressed in his Mage robe, was particularly eye-catching in the tavern.

Although Piltover was much more advanced and powerful than Zaun, the profession of a Mage—even a Mage Apprentice—was still a rarity in Piltover's population of several million.

In many people's minds, Mages were just a bunch of old eccentrics who spent all their time researching strange things.

So, when Durin appeared in the tavern, their gazes were filled with curiosity and a hint of reverence.

After a short while, the hostess brought a wooden tray with steaming fried rice, fragrant fried chicken pieces, and oolong tea with floating ice cubes, presenting them to Durin. After receiving the 10 copper circle coins from Durin, she said "enjoy your meal" and walked away.

Durin, who was already famished, felt a nearly insane craving for meat reawaken at the sight of the fried chicken, stimulated by its aroma.

He picked up a piece of boneless fried chicken and swallowed it whole, the hot juice splattering in his mouth.

One after another, Durin could feel all the pores on his body expanding, and an indescribable sense of satisfaction welled up in his heart.

After finishing all the fried chicken, Durin buried himself in the fried rice, planning to check the tavern's notice board for suitable odd jobs after his meal.

"Get lost! Didn't you hear she doesn't want to be with you?"

However, just then, a scream suddenly echoed in the tavern, and everyone, including Durin, who was satisfying his hunger, looked towards the source of the sound.

He saw the couple, who had originally been affectionate, pulling and shoving with a scrawny man, roughly forty years old and about 1.7 meters tall, all of them cursing.

Hmm?

Something to watch?

Durin ate his fried rice while curiously staring at the three people arguing.

The scrawny man roared, his face flushed, "Daisy! How could you be with this man behind my back! I was only gone for a short trip, are you really that desperate?!"

However, the woman named Daisy did not answer, merely leaning against the other man in a delicate, bird-like manner.

This man had dark skin, a Mohawk haircut, and his burly physique was at least two sizes larger than the scrawny man standing in front of him.

The dark-skinned strongman sneered, his eyes full of mockery and disdain, "This is a public place! Don't go crazy here! Daisy has already chosen me, and she'll divorce you tomorrow.

Be smart and get lost; we can even invite you for a drink when we get married!"

"You shut up! You bastard, and I even considered you a brother, yet you seduced my wife!"
