Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: Alchemists Can Also Get Rich

Kreslin the Mage, dressed in a deep black long robe with gray patterns on his collar and sleeve edges, walked in.

He first glanced at the electrical lights on the ceiling, and after confirming that they were working normally, a hint of happiness appeared on his stern face, and he said with satisfaction, "Just today, I plan to refine a basic, universally usable potion: Emerald Potion. This potion was developed by me personally."

His words were filled with undisguised pride.

Then he looked at Durin, emphasizing, "So today, you must concentrate, Durin. You need to record the entire refining process of the Emerald Potion, organize it into a table and a memorandum. I will send it to Piltover University later to see which Piltoverians is willing to pay for it."

Oh? Record the potion refining process?

Upon hearing the Mage's words, Durin immediately perked up and began to observe carefully.

Kreslin the Mage first took a bag of Dragon's Beard Grass and Nettle, placed them on the platform to his right, weighed a certain amount with a scale, and then successively put them into a mortar. He used a pestle to crush and grind both, then handed samples to Durin to examine.

The degree of grinding was also important; too coarse would affect the potion's efficacy, but too fine would easily lead to over-boiling and refining failure. As for how to control it, the other party did not give a detailed answer, only casually throwing out a sentence: judge by experience and feeling.

Once Durin had observed enough, he added a quarter of water to the central iron pot, poured in one ounce of ground Nettle and two ounces of Dragon's Beard Grass, and stirred evenly with a spoon. At this point, the liquid turned into an emerald-green color.

Then he pulled the blower's pull cord to ignite the charcoal at the bottom of the pot, while glancing at the wall clock, waiting for the right moment.

Durin seized the opportunity to inquire about all the quantities involved earlier: the dosage of Nettle and Dragon's Beard Grass as main ingredients, and the amount of water used in the iron pot.

Kreslin explained each point. If they wanted to sell the Emerald Potion to those Piltoverianss who supported the establishment of Piltover University, then they must show them its value, and a detailed alchemical process memorandum, down to every single measurement, was extremely important.

They couldn't let those Piltoverianss be confused, thinking that this alchemical process memorandum was some folk remedy written by a barefoot doctor from the countryside; it had to reflect scientific rigor!

After half a quarter of an hour, the liquid in the pot had not yet boiled, subtly emitting a faint fragrance.

Kreslin the Mage immediately extinguished the fire, gripped the iron pot's handle, and poured the liquid into a finger-length, translucent snake-neck bottle, inadvertently revealing a pair of muscular arms beneath his sleeves, remarkably steady, not wasting a single drop of the liquid.

Finally, he cleanly and swiftly sealed it with a cork.

The entire refining process, in Durin's view, could be summarized as—facing a large iron pot, adding water, adding ingredients, pulling the blower's pull cord, igniting and boiling, and finally, removing from heat and reducing.

"Emerald Potion, taken orally or applied externally, can accelerate the healing of external wounds and prevent wound infection…" Kreslin the Mage shook the snake-neck bottle, appearing very satisfied, "As the most basic and widely practical type of potion. This small bottle of potion can be sold in Zaun for about 1.5 to 3 silver lun coins."

"Then what are the specific effects of this potion?"

"You'll know once you get injured and take a bottle." Kreslin said, "If the wound isn't too serious, it can probably halve your healing time."

"Excuse me, Kreslin the Mage, since Emerald Potion is more effective than simple herbal treatments for external injuries," Durin asked somewhat puzzled, "why is it rarely seen in Zaun?" Durin observed the emerald-green liquid in the glass snake-neck bottle.
