Chapter 7 - || CHAPTER 7:Where Hope Faces Despair ||

Lucan wanted to test his cosmic energy. He transmitted a message to the Lord, who instantly reappeared. "So, you finally have learned cosmic energy, hmm! Show me some tricks."

He wanted to know Lucan's power level so that he could measure Lucan's worth as entertainment. He laughed as the environment turned into a battle terrain.

Lucan grinned as he thought of a nuclear bomb. He waved his hands as cosmic energy clustered; he shaped the cosmic energy into a nuclear bomb.

With a smirk, he said, "Let me show you one of our ultimate creations. Just wait a minute." The Lord laughed heartily and sat down. "Take your time. I will wait as long as you want." Lucan felt difficulty in making one. The first thing was that he lacked the quantity of cosmic energy.

It was just now that he had used it to make armor. And he didn't have much knowledge of either cosmic energy or nuclear bombs.

But after 2 hours, he managed to make a smaller version. He succeeded... but it was just the size of a palm.

The Lord asked, "Is it over?" Lucan nodded his head. This nuclear bomb blast was at the range of a quarter of Earth combined. He gasped at this bizarre scale. But he also grinned, as this was much more interesting.

He spoke, "Lord, I think this one might be too powerful. Will you be able to handle it?" The Lord's rage rose. His pride was insulted. He snorted, "Of course. You think I am that weak?"

Inside, he felt: Foolish C-tier species, thinking low of me. Witness my true power.

Lucan activated it and threw it at the Lord as he immediately retreated back several steps. He used all of his cosmic energy and teleported himself back continuously.

He reached a safe zone, but his cosmic energy was fully consumed. The Lord laughed, "Why is he afraid of this small oval thing? Humans are so primitive, huh..."

It destroyed the entire environment. It was massive and huge. Lucan felt amazed at actually seeing a live nuclear blast; thanks to the cosmic energy, he was able to survive this blast.

An explosion erupted with a huge shockwave. Smoke and flame spread around the entire place. Flames rained down as if it were raining.

Everything was destroyed; the whole place was like a null void or nothingness.

The Lord flew out. "Nice try. It was not utterly useless. This is somewhat like a 'not bad' level, I suppose! Not bad!"

Lucan was surprised. He could not believe his own eyes. He felt as if it were a dream. He pinched himself and screamed slightly in pain. "Hehe, this is indeed real, but how is my question?"

He asked, "Wait, how much cosmic energy did you use, Lord?" as he gulped. Inside, he thought: Good, he survived that, but he must have lost at least half of his cosmic energy.

The Lord teleported beside him. His lips curled up. "Truly pathetic. Let me warn you, with this much power, you cannot even go beyond my planet, let alone reach the end of space. Your hope now faces despair."

He was like the true embodiment of evil. He took Lucan to the mountain and showed its massive might.

Lucan stopped him as he asked, "You never answered my question, Lord!" with a cold gaze. The Lord laughed. "Oh yeah, I didn't even use a drop of cosmic energy."

Lucan's heart sank to rock bottom. The mountain was impossible even for the Lord, let alone Lucan. The Lord loved to see the reaction on Lucan's face.

If it were others, they would tremble with fear and despair. They would even beg him for their lives.

Fear would consume their minds and bodies. Even the bravest ones would stumble.

The Lord enjoyed thinking about his reaction, but when he saw Lucan's face, it was he himself who retreated back several steps.

He was stunned. Lucan's face had a wide grin, like that of a psycho. His eyes widened. He laughed like a maniac. There was no fear in his eyes.

Only craziness filled with excitement. He felt as if he were fighting someone to the death. He had no chance of winning, but at the brink of his death, he killed his enemy and survived.

He said, "Interesting, amusing. My goal is not going to be filled with boredom. Lord, now listen to me! When I break this mountain, I will kill you too. Promise me you won't flee."

His words pierced through the Lord's ears. He too laughed loudly. All the aliens and creatures fled out of this area.

Everybody ran away. One of the aliens asked, "Who is this kid? The Lord is going to do something. We must quickly leave this place."

Another alien replied, "It seems 008 brought him. Let us ask him."

The Lord spoke, "Kid, you fascinate me. In my entire life, I have seen nobody with such guts. I will cancel your 4-week time limit. No more time limit. Train, become powerful, and we will have a fight to the death after you break this mountain. Hahaha! And... I, the Lord, declare you, Lucan, as the bravest species to ever exist. If you lose—no! No! Wait, when you lose, I will still bring you back to life and suppress you. You can no longer pursue your goal, and you will become my slave, but no worries. Among your species, I will give you the highest position."

Lucan said, "If I win, I too will bring you back to life, and you must build my spaceship for free. And you must help me get past this galaxy. If you agree, let us make a new agreement, and... I will ride on your back in front of all the aliens on this planet, hehe!"

The Lord felt excitement popping through his blood. His hands trembled in excitement. His brows twitched. He used cosmic energy and forged a new agreement with Lucan.

He said, "Ah! In my life, I have never felt this much excitement. Lucan, don't disappoint me by not putting your words into action."

Lucan never stopped laughing. He too felt the same feeling. He said, "That was supposed to be my question!"

The Lord patted his shoulder and said, "Don't worry, I won't disappoint you. One thing I cannot understand is: how are you a C-tier being?" As he left, Lucan lay back on the ground, not far away from the mountain. He said, "The only correct decision I took in my life was to leave Earth and find the end of space. Others abandon their goal just to survive, but I will chase my goal. I will have no regrets, even if I die pursuing my goal, because... dying with no regrets is better than living with regrets!" with a gentle smile.

Lucan ate some food. Surprisingly, all the food made from cosmic energy was similar to food from Earth. After a few hours, he regained his cosmic energy to its fullest.

He walked toward the mountain. He saw an alien lying by the side, looking very weak. It was punching the mountain with cosmic energy.

He walked closer and placed a hand on its shoulder. The alien shifted its gaze. "You too, huh? Don't worry, we are going to die. This mountain is impossible to break. I tried and gave it my everything, sigh!"

Lucan asked him to explain. He replied, "I took up this challenge thinking it would be easy, but my time limit is over. Tomorrow is my last day. I will face death. You will face it later. No matter who it is, they cannot escape their fate."

Lucan smirked. "We die? No, it will be only you. Fate, haha! If you cannot escape fate, destroy fate! You yourself are the most powerful version; one's own self has no limits to what one can achieve if they persevere! Fate is merely an excuse, huh! Fate wasn't the cause; it was you, solely yourself."
