Valeria pulled back after a few long seconds to catch her breath and she felt Aziel's forehead rest against hers. Her heart was hammering a mile a minute, the would was tilting on its axis and she felt slightly dizzy from the kiss.
Had they really just done that?
What had actually possessed her to kiss him? He was just being so open and vulnerable that she wasn't even aware her body was moving until it was too late. Now, she wasn't sure how to act. She was usually so confident every time she spoke with Aziel or was just in his presence, but now, she was too scared to even open her eyes. She was scared of what she might find in his own eyes, scared that she would want to stay and that it would be impossible to leave after the truth is revealed. What if his family had done something she could never forgive? Then what? Was that the end of it all?
She felt Aziel's warm hand against the back of her neck as he slowly pulled away.
