On the last weekend day, the sun sat high over the clearing as the family gathered around the island in the kitchen to prepare the final lunch of the trip. The back door stood wide open to let in the fresh breeze and everyone was chatting happily about the drive back to the city later that evening. They had already decided it was best to head home tonight so that Theon and Azaria wouldn't have to face a rushed, exhausting commute straight to the office on Monday morning like they had last time.
Dorian was over by the stove checking on the roasted vegetables, while Lenora and Genevieve were busy assembling a massive salad at one end of the counter. Theon stood in the centre of the kitchen with a bread knife, slicing through a crusty loaf of sourdough while Azaria stood right beside him, stacking the pieces into a wicker basket as he cut them.
