Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: Cracks of Reality

Alex's eyes darted frantically.

Three cracks pulsed in impossible synchronization:

Two red, one violet.

Every object—streetlights, pigeons, trash cans—was caught in unpredictable loops.

Even the wind seemed to fold like paper around him.

"…Okay… Alex," he muttered,

"…this is officially insanity squared. And I love it… sort of."

Observation Phase

Alex ducked behind a dumpster, panting.

"…Think… observe… experiment…"

He noticed a pattern:

The cracks reacted to focus, fear, and movement.

Objects closest to the cracks were absorbed first.

Smaller cracks could distract or overload the big cracks.

"…So… if I manipulate small cracks perfectly… maybe I can control the chaos…" Alex whispered.

Strategic Experimentation

Alex grabbed:

Two traffic cones

A skateboard

A pile of papers

A stray umbrella

Two trash cans

He focused on all small cracks simultaneously:

Tossed objects strategically, pulling them between cracks.

Redirected debris toward violet crack to overload it.

Used reflections from windows to manipulate object trajectory.

The violet crack flickered… confused.

The red cracks staggered slightly.

"…Yes! Confused cracks! My chaos mastery is improving!" Alex whispered, grinning.

Comedy Amid Chaos

A pigeon flew through a small crack.

It vanished… then reappeared riding a tiny traffic cone.

"…Perfect. Pigeon Uber service, now in time."

A stray cat leaped through a crack.

Its tail twitched like a metronome, perfectly timed.

"…Okay… apparently cats are chaos conductors. Good to know."

A paper plane hit a streetlight mid-air… causing a small explosion of sparkles.

"…Yep… explosions of chaos. Definitely normal," Alex muttered.

Villain's Subtle Revelation

The figure stepped closer, voice calm but ominous:

"Interesting… adaptation. But do you understand the scale, Alex? Each action you take echoes across multiple timelines. Every object, every choice… matters far beyond this street."

Alex gulped. "…Multiple timelines? So… if I mess up, it's not just here… it's everywhere?"

"Exactly. Your improvisation is commendable… but survival alone is meaningless. Understanding the patterns is power."

Alex muttered: "…Patterns… chaos… survival… I hate math and I love it simultaneously."

Advanced Tricks

Alex focused on timing, trajectory, and distraction:

He launched papers through small cracks in a zigzag pattern.

Redirected trash cans through reflective surfaces.

Used the skateboard as a moving distraction between two red cracks.

The violet crack pulsed violently, then flickered, clearly confused.

The red cracks staggered—objects collided, loops formed, chaos intensified—but Alex controlled it.

"…Yes… improvisation level: genius. Chaos mode: max!" Alex whispered, laughing nervously.

Cliffhanger – Villain's Warning

The figure stepped even closer, voice almost proud:

"Impressive. Phase 3 engagement: survival, improvisation, manipulation… but now comes the real test. Can you comprehend the cracks… and me?"

Alex gulped. "…Comprehend you? You're controlling time, cracks, pigeons, cats, streetlights… great. I understand… I'm doomed. Maybe."

The three cracks pulsed violently, twisting the air.

"…Yep… chaos, comedy, and danger… all at once. My kind of day."
