[Welcome, Designer!]
[Begin by customizing your Character appearance.]
A calm, mechanical female voice echoed in my mind, and a holographic interface floated all around me.

I froze. Floating before me was a perfect digital replica of myself. My hair, eyes, face, and even my clothes had been scanned and loaded into the Character interface.
[Input Character Name]

I typed Malachi Elden on the keyboard, letting the letters settle into the interface.
[You may now modify your appearance.]

I raised my hand and selected hair first. A cascade of colors and hairstyles appeared, floating in midair before me. I swiped through them, tapping and selecting options I found the style that fit my vision.
Next, I focused on the face. Remembering what Mr. Lysander said, I kept the avatar looking like me and didn't change anything.
I moved on to body, adjusting the sliders to give the character the lean muscle I wanted. I leaned forward, spinning the avatar to make sure every angle matched my vision.
This character had to look sharp, strong, and mysterious—like a Grim Reaper stepping out of shadow.
Once I was satisfied, I moved on to the other options, refining them one by one. When I finished, I held the avatar in my hands, turning it slowly, checking every detail, and adjusting the stance and posture one last time until it felt complete.

I paused, staring at the floating skill slots. My mind raced with ideas, imagining the exact powers this Grim Reaper would wield. Dark magic would bring fear, control, and battlefield utility.
Each skill needed to strike with precision and lethality, leaving an unforgettable mark on anyone who faced it.
I finished typing the descriptions and locked them in.
The interface flickered for a moment.

[Skill Calibration Complete]
Passive Ability:
▢ Phase Drift – When enemies hit you with certain attacks or magic, the effects pass through your body without causing any harm. It does not activate every time and happens randomly. It works especially well against weapon attacks, letting them pass through you more easily without effect.
Skill 1:
▢ Soul-Cutting Crescent – Melee / Ranged / Slash / Crowd Control
Dark energy bursts from the scythe in a wide crescent, dealing 70 Damage to all enemies in its path. Enemies struck receive Fear for 5 seconds, reducing combat response and briefly interrupting actions.
Skill 2:
▢ Dread Shatter – Offensive / Replication / Area Damage / Pierce
Unleash a spinning scythe replica forward. Upon impact, it fractures into four additional scythe copies that scatter outward and strike multiple enemies. Each scythe deals 90 Damage on hit.
Skill 3:
▢ Shadow Expanse – Area / Control / Defense / Crowd Control
Erupts a dense surge of shadow around the caster, spreading outward to obscure vision, neutralize attacks, and slow enemies trapped within. Opponents struggle to move as the darkness suffocates and disorients them, granting battlefield control. The darkness deals 50 Magic Damage continuously while enemies remain inside the area.
[Confirm All Save?]
[▶ YES] / [▶ NO]
With a steady hand, I tapped [▶ YES] to lock in every choice.
The system shimmered, acknowledging each detail. My Grim Reaper now radiated the presence, power, and fear I had imagined—a flawless mix of offense, control, and dark elegance.
[Congratulations! You have completed your character design.]
[You may now proceed to the Lore Story of the game.]
[Prologue: The Age of Darkness]
[Accessing Lore Cinematic…]
Long ago, the kingdoms lived in peace. Cities thrived, rivers ran clear, and forests stretched endlessly. Life flowed quietly, and people felt safe… but the world held hidden dangers.
Across the realm, seven dark embryos slept, each a shadowy entity of immense power. When they awoke, their darkness spread, twisting nature and summoning monsters that no army could stop.
Villages burned, forests vanished, and fear swept through the land like wildfire. If an embryo consumed enough territory, it could fully emerge, becoming a force capable of destroying the world.
Yet hope remained. Strange essence orbs appeared, glowing with untold power. Only the worthy could awaken them. Those who succeeded became Adventurers, humans touched by extraordinary abilities.
Armed with these powers, they became the last line of defense, tasked with destroying the embryos and sealing the rifts before the dark entities could fully awaken.
The kingdoms stand on the edge of ruin. Monsters roam freely, and every day brings new threats. Only the Heroes of the Rift can stand against the darkness… and save the world from annihilation.
[Input Character Backstory]
▢ ____________________
The interface blinked, waiting for my input. Every hero needed a past, a motivation, a spark that would define their journey in this world. I paused, fingers hovering over the floating keyboard, letting my thoughts settle on the character I had designed.
Since my character was a Grim Reaper, the fitting orb had to be the Nether Orb. I began typing the backstory.
Malachi Elden was only a village boy from Raphen, living a simple life until he discovered an ancient sword buried near the forest. A strange dark orb was embedded in its shaft, pulsing faintly as if it were alive.
He kept it hidden, unsure of what it truly was. Days later, monsters attacked Raphen Village, and Malachi grabbed the sword, determined to protect his family and the village. He fought desperately, but he was no match for the creatures.
When the battle ended, he found his home destroyed and his loved ones dead. Broken and on the brink of death, the orb suddenly awakened. The sword shattered in his hands, and the darkness poured into his body.
In that moment, Malachi rose again, wrapped in a cold and unstoppable power. His weapon reformed into a black scythe, forged from shadow itself. His eyes darkened, and a faint mist of death surrounded him like a cloak.
The Nether Orb had chosen him. Not as a knight, not as a savior, but as something else entirely. A hunter of souls. A shadow that walks between life and death. From that day on, Malachi was no longer a village boy. He became a Grim Reaper, cursed with dark magic and bound to harvest the souls of monsters that threatened the world.
[Backstory Accepted!]
A holographic system interface materialized before me, floating in midair.
