"Huh?" Leon froze in shock. He swiftly slipped his phone back into his pocket.
"What... Mira is here?" His expression changed instantly.
"Who allowed her to come here alone? What are the bodyguards even doing? And—"
He turned sharply toward James, his eyes filled with annoyance.
"Why did she message you instead of me?"
The unmistakable scent of jealousy filled the room.
James shrugged. "I have no idea. She just texted me and asked me to come downstairs. She's waiting outside the company."
Leon immediately strode toward the door.
"I'm coming too. This is her first time visiting the company. Of course I should be the one to welcome her."
"Stop!" James grabbed Leon's arm before he could leave. "She specifically told me not to inform you. It's supposed to be a surprise."
Leon frowned.
"So stay here and pretend you know nothing."
Without waiting for a reply, James walked out.
Left alone, Leon sat back in his chair. Then he stood up again. He adjusted the files on his desk, despite everything already being perfectly arranged. He straightened his tie, checked his reflection in the mirror, ran a hand through his hair.
Shook his head... Adjusted it again. He even tried sitting in different positions, searching for the one that looked the most calm and professional.
Just as he settled into his chair—
Knock... Knock...
Leon quickly cleared his throat.
"Yes... come in."
The door burst open.
"Surprise!!" Mira walked in with a bright smile, holding a beautifully decorated cake.
"Mira..." Even after expecting her, Leon couldn't hide the surprise in his eyes.
He immediately stood up, crossed the room, and pulled her into a warm embrace.
"What is all this?" His gaze fell on the cake.
"I made it myself." She held it out proudly.
"I wanted you to taste it, so... I came here."
For a brief moment, Leon simply stared at her. Then the corners of his lips curved into a gentle smile. Without another word, he leaned down and kissed her forehead.
"Ahem! Ahem!" An exaggerated cough echoed through the room.
Finn stood by the door with his arms crossed. "Hello, Mira."
Startled, Mira stepped back.
"Oh! Finn, you're here too!" She smiled warmly.
"Then I'll cut the cake for everyone."
Behind her, Leon slowly turned toward Finn. His expression was calm but his eyes were not.
Leaning closer, he whispered in a dangerously low voice,
"How dare you covet what's mine?"
Finn nearly laughed. For a man feared across the business world, Leon could be unbelievably childish.
Within minutes, Mira happily cut the cake and handed everyone a slice.
The moment Finn and James accepted theirs, Leon pushed them toward the door with remarkable efficiency. The office door shut behind them.
Finn looked at the cake in his hand and chuckled.
"Thank goodness this was a surprise."
James raised an eyebrow.
"Huh??"
"While you were downstairs picking her up, Leon cursed you at least ten times for being the one she called."
James let out a helpless sigh.
After a brief silence, he spoke again.
"Finn... don't you think Leon is becoming seriously obsessed with her?"
Finn glanced at him.
"I don't mean just today."
James continued thoughtfully,
"Ever since they first met at Enchante Café, he's been different. I've never seen him like this before. It's not as if he hasn't met beautiful women."
He paused.
"Do you think they knew each other before?"
Finn shook his head.
"I wondered the same thing."
"But they never met."
James frowned.
"The heir of Deskmore has crossed paths with women from every social circle."
"So why Mira?"
Finn looked out through the glass windows.
"That's what makes it strange."
"Even after he returned from Gracewall, he was completely normal."
Neither of them had an answer.
After a long silence, Finn smiled faintly.
"Maybe some things aren't meant to be explained."
James nodded.
"Maybe..."
"It's just fate."
