A morning doorbell woke Leon from his sleep. It had been ages since he had slept this peacefully.
His arms were still curled around Mira, and she was sleeping against his chest. A smile spread across his face. Carefully, he reached for his phone and took several pictures of her sleeping peacefully in his embrace. He carefully moved away without waking her.
James was waiting in the living room.
"President, it's time to take your work seriously again," he said sarcastically. "You've been absent for far too long."
Leon ignored the comment. Before leaving, he returned to the bedroom.
"Mira..."
She stirred slightly. "Hmm..."
"I'm going to the office," he whispered softly. "I'll be back by evening." He kissed her forehead gently.
Mira nodded with a sleepy smile, still half-asleep. Only then did he leave.
The moment he entered the car, Leon Deskmore returned. The loving husband disappeared and the businessman took over. He reviewed files, approved reports, and checked his schedule for the day.
"James."
"Yes, sir?"
"From today onward, make sure my schedule is free during evenings and weekends."
James let out a deep sigh.
"Sir, your schedule is already packed. Even if I try, I can only give you one."
"Then weekends," Leon replied immediately. "And make sure I'm home every night."
"Understood, sir."
Once he arrived at the company, employees welcomed him back enthusiastically. Meetings followed one after another. Hours passed before he finally found himself alone in his office. Leon walked into the private bedroom attached to his cabin and locked the door.
Then he took out his phone. A small smile appeared on his face. He opened an application.
Immediately, multiple live video feeds appeared on the screen.
The garden.
The library.
The living room.
The hallways.
The kitchen.
And Mira.... Always Mira.
He had installed a complete surveillance system throughout the mansion. Officially, it was for security. To protect her. To monitor potential threats. To ensure she remained safe while recovering.
That was what he told everyone. But deep down, Leon knew there was another reason.
A much simpler one; He was scared.
His eyes followed her through the screen as she wandered through the mansion. A small smile unconsciously appeared on his lips. Only after seeing her did the tightness in his chest loosen.
Leon stared at the screen for a long moment. Then whispered quietly,
"Just stay happy, Mira..." His fingers tightened around the phone.
"I'll take care of everything else."
A knock, "Leo... Finn is here." James announced.
