Chapter 60 - Chapter 60: The One Who Will Walk Into the Future With Your Daughter

At this moment, Frostnova tugged on Jean's sleeve and handed a piece of candy to Jean.

"This is a candy unique to Ursus, completely different from ordinary sweets. How about it, want to try?"

'Is this fast-forwarding to eating candy already, or is it because she saw me having too much fun with the Black Rabbit?'

However, Jean was not a player with a normal train of thought. He directly unwrapped the candy, held half of it in his mouth, and fed the other half into Frostnova's mouth, then bit it off and kept it in his own mouth.

He flashed a smile at Frostnova: "Mm, very sweet."

Frostnova leaned against Jean's shoulder, super shy, curling up as if she wanted to bury her head.

The others looked as if they had been petrified, then one by one they wore expressions of having eaten their fill. Amiya, in particular, had her mouth wide open, looking completely incredulous. Shocked Little Donkey all day long.JPG

Just then, an explosion from the distance broke the silence. Everyone exchanged glances and began running toward the location of the explosion.

"Perhaps it was the Black Cloaks," Amiya said.

"Huh? Wei Yanyou would let his own subordinates enter Chernobog?" Jean asked, somewhat puzzled.

"He already called these Black Cloaks accomplices of the Infected in front of everyone, right in front of you, didn't he?" Kaltsit added.

"Tsk, old fox."

When the group arrived near the explosion site, they encountered the Crownslayer squad being chased by Sarkaz mercenaries, as well as W, who was being carried by Crownslayer.

The explosion was caused by the severely injured W on Crownslayer's back throwing a bomb. In the distance, some Sarkaz mercenaries were fighting with the Black Cloaks, who were Wei Yanyou's Shadow Guards.

However, the Black Cloaks were obviously much stronger, and the Sarkaz mercenaries were wiped out one after another. Yet, even so, the squad of mercenaries chasing Crownslayer showed no reaction, just mechanically pursuing her.

From a distance, Jean used compressed wind element bullets to fly near their heads and detonate. The high-frequency loud noise, similar to a stun grenade, and the intracranial shock caused them to pass out instantly.

The more Jean watched, the more he felt that the wind element was a special attack against groups; this little trick, which didn't require much energy, could easily make ordinary people faint.

The Black Cloaks also saw Jean and the others from Rhodes Island and chose to leave directly, running off in another direction.

Now that the crisis seemed resolved, the situation changed again when Crownslayer saw Kaltsit.

She saw her throw the W on her back onto the ground, draw her blade, and charge forward.

Next came a perfect reproduction of the original plot where Kaltsit disciplines Crownslayer.

As for W, who cried out, "Ah, damn it!" and seemed to have suffered secondary damage, she was just caught in the crossfire.

After learning that Kaltsit and Crownslayer were old acquaintances and that there wouldn't likely be any major trouble, the group ran over to watch W.

At this moment, W was lying on her back, covered in wounds, lying there doubting life. A tragic feeling of 'I really misjudged my teammate' welled up.

Seeing that W was completely ignoring everyone, Jean reached out a finger and poked her face. Mm, it felt good.

However, he only received an eye-roll in return. Fortunately, she spoke up after that.

"If you want to laugh, just go ahead."

"Before we laugh, tell us what happened?" Jean asked.

"..."

After a long silence, W finally began to recount what she had encountered.

It was basically that she went to assassinate Talulah and got beaten up again, but when she managed to escape by relying on cushioning materials prepared in advance under the tower and making a leap of faith, she was then attacked by those controlled Sarkaz mercenaries.

Then came the flight, the encounter with the Black Cloaks, the three-way chaotic battle, being rescued by Crownslayer, and then being thrown onto the ground by Crownslayer.

Speaking in the heat of the moment, W looked up at Crownslayer and discovered she was being rubbed into the ground by Mon3tr and was being made to doubt life by Kaltsit's verbal barrage.

After her anger from being thrown on the ground subsided, W was clearly able to speak more, and then she started to mock the Doctor.

Then... "Ah, it hurts!" She was stabbed by Jean.

It wasn't to stand up for the Doctor, but rather that he had just collected some life force from the unconscious mercenaries lying on the ground and used his blade to inject it into W's body, treating her wounds—and, of course, the wound caused by the blade itself.

Feeling herself getting better, W stopped complaining.

A moment later, Crownslayer had curled up in a corner to doubt life, and Kaltsit came before W.

Seeing Kaltsit and the Doctor appear at the same time, W was just about to let her true nature take over and start yapping, but seeing Mon3tr and thinking of the Crownslayer who had just been educated, she closed her mouth.

Kaltsit sighed and began to check the condition of the controlled mercenaries.

"It's extremely similar to Mephisto's flock, but it has signs of slight evolution. It has discarded the step of enhancing the host's vitality, greatly increasing efficiency, and has also turned into pure mental control."

Relying on her extensive knowledge, Kaltsit quickly reached a conclusion.

"Then how can this control be broken?" Jean asked.

"Defeating the caster should save them. Or... no, this is the only way."

Jean keenly noticed that Kaltsit had glanced at the Doctor in the middle of her sentence, and then changed her words.

The final question was thrown back onto Talulah. Whether she gave the order was unclear, but this blame definitely couldn't escape her.

Looking at Old Chen's increasingly gloomy expression, there was no one present from the same faction as her, and the culprit was even her own older sister.

Jean didn't know how to comfort her; he couldn't just go up and say 'be strong.' Fortunately, the control tower was not far away; Jean could even see the haystack and boxes W had used for her leap of faith.

Following the guidance of the guerrilla squad, finally, Jean and this large Talulah suppression team encountered the first target of this trip.

Just standing there, he was as steady, towering, rugged, and unshakeable as a mountain. The most solid backing of the Infected: Patriot — Bol'yash Kaschey.

"Father, I have returned."

Frostnova's 'Father' sounded particularly unfamiliar, and in Jean's memory, Frostnova called him 'Papa.'

Patriot glanced at Jean, who was holding hands with Frostnova, and nodded.

"Returning... is good..."

Now it was Jean's turn to struggle. What to do in this situation? Is it bad to just call him Father-in-law? If he said your daughter already belongs to me, would this old Wendigo just strike him down?

However, Jean still stepped forward and introduced himself: "Nice to meet you, Mr. Patriot, I am Jean, the one who will walk into the future with your daughter, Yelena."
