POV Agent Coulson
I open the doors with a sigh of exhaustion and look at the subject in the interrogation room.
'Another day, and another pointless interrogation.'
I flip the switch, and a broadcast starts playing, but as usual, the person shows no reaction other than agitation at hearing it again.
"We can end this anytime you want. All you have to do is tell us what they mean," I say into the intercom.
"I can't get these f*cking numbers out of my head!" screams the man.
"Yes, I know. Now tell us what they mean," I press.
"Good soldiers follow orders. Good soldiers follow orders. Good soldiers follow orders," the man says in a trance.
'We're losing him again.'
I shock him to knock him out of his trance, causing him to scream in agony.
'This is getting us nowhere.'
I had been trying to break this man's programming for two weeks at this point, but we hadn't managed to get anything out of him. The man in question was an agent who used to work for Shield and was later found to have threatened a coworker to perform sexual acts. He was scum but not a murderer. And yet he had killed a high-value target during an inspection of Trask's laboratory. And the only clue we found was a short broadcast that was transmitted shortly before the attack.
"Still nothing," Hill asks when she enters the room.
"Nothing. All I've got is that same phrase he repeats," I say with clear exhaustion in my voice.
"Shouldn't you let someone else handle this?" Hill asks.
"I could ask you the same question, Director," I joke.
Hill was given the title of Director of the MRA. I was tempted to try for the position, but I had already lost most of my hair; I didn't want to lose the rest of it like Fury.
"Well, I trust you the most. Whatever this is, it's bigger than we thought," Hill says with a grim tone.
"What happened?" I ask with worry.
"The broadcast, it's appearing all over the globe. We're trying our damnest to find the source, but it seems to be coming from just about every station. Radio, Television, Satellites; it doesn't matter where, the numbers are everywhere. The only thing not touched is some forms of communications," Hill says while turning on a TV to show the numbers broadcast were everywhere.
"My god," I say as I stand up in horror.
"The security council doesn't care what you have to do, get answers to what this means, and do it before it's too late," Hill orders.
"Do we have any idea how much time we have or what they are meant for?" I ask.
"None; at best, it seems that China and Russia have pulled out their ICBMs and are on the verge of launching their WMDs. This could be related, or it might not. Cryptographers are trying their damndest to decipher the numbers or see if there is a pattern, but they've made no progress so far," Hill explains.
I gulp nervously and look at the man in the interrogation room.
"Have the Guardians done anything?" I ask.
"No, Batman has reported that the signal is coming from a Satellite Array in Tibet, China. We've confirmed that there is a Satellite Array present where they said and that it had appeared very recently, but we have no idea if that is truly the origin. The Guardians can't act, as China won't let them operate in their nation, especially not in that region where they have their concentration camps. And they won't take it down unless it is proven that it is a threat to the world. Right now, all that has happened is an interruption to most signals, which, while that is illegal it isn't the end of the world," Hill replies.
"What has China said?" I ask.
"They insist they have nothing to do with the broadcasts, but they haven't made any moves to take down the Satellite Array. Nor have they attempted to interfere with the signal," Hill says, and I can read the subtext.
If it isn't China, they are doing a bad job of proving otherwise.
"Voice recognition?" I ask.
"No matches. Linguistically, they believe the voice has a slight German accent, suggesting that they aren't a native speaker. They aren't using phonetic pronunciations, which could also suggest a non-military source. In either case, we have already searched Germany for anything, but so far we have turned up nothing," Hill says with a very well hidden disapointed tone.
"I'll do anything I can to break through his programming," I say firmly.
"Thanks, and good luck," Hill says calmly.
She doesn't leave right away.
"Was there something else?" I ask.
"No, I'm waiting to see what you need me to do," Hill says.
"What?" I say with surprise.
"Everyone else already has their assignments, and things can run without me. I'll do best helping you break him," Hill explains calmly.
I can't find a reason to argue, so I shut up and stop wasting time.
"Got it, let's get this done," I say firmly.
Timeskip
POV Shift Taskmaster
I zone out as I hear it.
"9, 13, 13, 6, 3, 8, 22, 14, 9," the broadcast sounds out.
Slowly the numbers meld together, and I understand the mission.
"Taskmaster, the time has come... Execute Order 66," with the command recieved I begin to execute.
"It will be done, my lord," I say with a blank stare.
"What the hell are you talking about?" President Vladimir asks.
"Good soldiers follow orders," I say and pull out my pistol.
"What the hell are you doing?!" President Vladimir yells.
Bang
With a press of the trigger, I kill the president. But that was only the first step. Every journey begins with a single step.
POV Shift Chinese Security Council Member
"Why are you doing this?" the American seat asks.
I don't answer him and pull the trigger, splattering his brains across the wall. Then I look towards the last remaining member of the Security Council.
"N-No! Wait! Don't do this! I have a kid!" the British seat begs.
I don't say a word and kill them. Only when I was certain that all my targets were dead did I finish the job.
"For purity!" I say as I place the gun to my head and pull the trigger.
POV Shift Natasha
I burst through the doors but pause when I realize I was too late.
"The Councilors are all dead," I report.
"Damn it!" Hill says angrily.
I would have commented on the slip in her professional guise, but I wasn't in the mood to make any jokes as this was a sh*t show and I didn't even know what to do.
"Do you see who is responsible?" Hill says with her professional guise restored.
"It seems like the Chinese Seat decided to take out his coworkers and then himself," I report as I inspect the scene.
Hill doesn't respond for a while, long enough that I start to get worried.
"Got it, keep anyone from interfering while I get a team to the crime scene," Hill says in a defeated voice.
I didn't envy her, as she would have a very rough time. I was only here as a favor for her, but even if I had retired, that didn't mean I didn't know the kind of mess this was going to start.
"Do you want some help?" I ask.
"Yes, if you don't mind," Hill says tiredly.
"Sure thing," I respond.
"Drinks are on me next time," Hill replies with an ounce of hope in her tone.
POV Shift Rio
I watch on with a calm look at the chaos I caused on Earth.
"Was this the best course of action?" Lucy asks.
"Decay has no cure; it has to be eradicated by the flames of a cleansing fire," I say coldly.
The plan was simple. Take various criminals and scum on Earth and use them to cleanse the Earth of rot and decay. It took a lot of effort, but with Music Meister's talent, I was able to improve the speed massively. I embedded only a single command into them. To kill those that deserve it. To make sure they didn't harm the innocent, I added a spell to their minds that gave them a weaker version of the Purity Sight I have; it also allowed them to know who else was obeying Order 66. If they somehow didn't die during the process of cleansing the filth, they would then exterminate the last of the evil themselves.
I had the idea a long time ago, basically as soon as I got the Music Meister Template. If I tried to find every scum and villain on Earth, it would take years or even decades, and there would always be those in power who might be able to avoid consequences. So what better way to deal with them than to take a smaller amount, brainwash them, and then return them back to be used later. Sure, it was risky, and I likely won't get everyone, but I will eradicate most of the rot on Earth in one fell swoop. It would also remove the last obstacles to World Peace and Unity.
"What's next?" Lucy asks.
"Now. Now we help everyone rebuild. Many nations will likely collapse and will need assistance. When the fighting stops, and the fallout has settled, we must rebuild. Not just walls, not just buildings, but hearts and minds. And ultimately, society itself," I say calmly.
