Redkeep
3rd POV:
On the entrance to the redkeep we see people looking on in shock as they see Daemon with a huge smile on his face as he hugs Damien, considering that his dislike of Rhea is known by everyone people assumed he would not like his son, most surprised of all would have be his own brother Viserys. 'I have never seen him look that happy before, not even when he was given darksister'. Viserys is in shock and it's plain to see on his face. "Lady wife". Daemon greets Rhea with a more subdued smile while still hugging Damien. "Lord husband". She responds in the same bland tone and a tight smile. "Follow me". Daemon says to Rhea as he breaks the hug and lifts Damien in his arms and walks towards Viserys and company. "Brother this is my son Damien and lady Rhea, Damien this is your uncle Viserys, aunt Aemma and cousin Rhaenyra" Daemon does the introductions with a smile on his face. "Uncle, aunt, cousin it's good to finally meet you all, father has told me a lot about you". "My prince, my lady, princess". Damien and Rhea greet them in almost opposing tones one warm and the other indifferent.
The shock on Viserys face is slowly replaced by a smile as he hears his nephew. "It's good to finally meet you too Damien and you as well my lady". Viserys responds just as warmly as Damien. "Such a lovely and well spoken boy". Aemma responds as she hands Rhaenyra to Viserys and pinches Damien's cheeks. 'Well that's embarrassing'. Damien thinks with some indignation. "Thank you". Damien replies shyly. "Come let's go meet the king and Queen". Viserys says with a fond smile while holding an excited Rhaenyra. They all enter the keep.
Throne room
In the throne room the Iron throne stood at one end of the throne room. Within the throne room, the king or his Hand holds court, receives petitioners, and oversees official ceremonies. Each new monarch was crowned officially once a crown was placed on their head, and they were seated upon the Iron throne. The room consists of a large, cavernous room. Its entrance is made up of two huge bronze and wood doors. The Iron Throne sits on the opposite side, atop a raised dais climbed up to by two sets of wide steps of rough black stone; small chairs may be placed when the King or the Hand is accompanied by members of the Small Council. The floor is made of different types of marble. Overhead is the towering vaulted ceiling with the skull of balerion the black dread hanging on it along with massive arches and columns across the room. On the right side of the Hall stands a raised gallery that connects to other areas of the Red Keep. To the left side of the Hall, several windows with stained-glass depictions of the seven-pointed star of the Faith of the Seven allow light to enter.
Seated upon the iron throne is Jaeharys, the conciliator, the wise, the old king, rider of vermithor the bronze fury, longest reigning king in the history of the seven kingdoms.
By his his side is septon Barth's and ser ryam redwyne's replacement as hand of the king after the death of the former and short tenure of the latter, his son and heir prince Baelon, the brave, the spring prince and rider of vhagar.
The two man are seen discussing something when the lord commander of the kinsguard ser Ryam Redwyne announces lady Rhea and Prince Damien's arrival as the doors to the throne room open. The king and heir look towards the door as Viserys and company arrived in the throne room.
"Your grace". They all bow in greeting. "Come forward, let me see you boy". The king says to Damien as Daemon puts him down. Damien walks up the stairs with Erebus by his side as he looks at the king on the throne as his eyes shine in awe as he takes a look around the throne room. As he walks up the stairs the king and his grandfather are also observing him. 'Big, the both of them'. They think simultaneously as they look at the nearly two name day old boy who looks nearly four name days and his pony sized black dragon. He finally stops and performs a formal bow. " Your grace, my prince, sorry ry ñuhār ao los". Damien said with a small apologetic smile as he offers his condolences and he meant it as he remembered just how many children and siblings the king and his grandfather have lost. His use of valyrian gets a look of suprise from the occupants in the room except for Daemon and Rhea who look proud of their son. 'Very impressive'. The old king thinks as he looks at his great-grandson. "Thank you Damien". Baelon says with a smile, but the suprise on his face hasn't subsided. " How long have you been learning valyrian?". The old king asks after giving Damien a nod of thanks for his condolences. " A year now your grace, but father started to teach me formally ten moons ago, before that I learned a few words and phrases from listening to father speak with caraxes." His words once again elicit suprise from everyone. Not just because of his learning ability but also the fact he can get close to caraxes, he isn't called the blood wrym for nothing after all.
After some small talk with with everyone the king clears his throat to say something.
"You both must be tired from your journey here, the lord commander will have someone show you to your rooms. We shall eat supper together and you can meet the queen and we can all get to know each other better, ser Ryam please show them the way". The king said. Ser ryam redwyne, leads them out of the throne room and Daemon, Viserys and Aemma follow the leaving only king Jaeharys and Baelon in the throne room. "What do you think of him?". The king asks Baelon after a few seconds of silence. "He seems perfect, smart so he will be a good lord and he's big for his age which points to him being martially inclined and he seems kind". Baelon says. "Yes, you are right". The king responds. " I hope his arrival can soothe your mother, she has seemed hollow since Gael's death. Haaa". The says with some hope and finishes his sentence with a tired sigh. "I hope so too, she has been getting weaker by the day". Baelon echoes his father's worries. They both fall silent, each with their own thoughts.
2 Days later
Damien POV:
It's been two days since we've been in the capital and it's been great, father took me to explore and apart from the smell it's a great place, it hasn't gotten as bad as it will in the future though. Flea bottom is bad but not as bad as how it is during Robert' reign and I know it will be better in a few years as my father creates the gold cloaks. The dragonpit was a great place to visit, I met vhagar and let me tell you she is huge, her shadow is so big when she flies you would think there was a solar eclipse. I also met the bronze fury, silverwing, dreamfyre and syrax. My favourite so far has been silverwing, she's just so gentle that it's endearing. Sadly I never got to meet her rider as the queen has not come out of her room since Gael's death, so I haven't met her yet. Maybe I'll meet her today since it's the funeral today.
I'm standing with my mother in an open field with nobles from across the seven kingdoms forming a semicircle around a funeral pyre with the king and kings dragons standing beside the pyre. The septon is saying something that I'm tuning out, I'm looking at the king and queen. The king is consoling the queen as she seems to be breaking down. I can see even grandpa Baelon shedding a few tears. The king whispers something to the queen and she manages to calm down and they both look at their dragon. ""Drakarys"". They say together as pale silver flames and bronze fires light the pyre. We watch as the pyre burns and the dragons are roaring, I can literally hear them echoing the rage and sadness of their riders, it's a really sad sight and I also find myself shedding a few tears. I find myself hugging mother's legs, I can also see I'm not the only one crying as I see Aemma and Rhaenyra crying.
The funeral was a short affair and we were back in the keep to eat something.
1 week later
It has been a week since the funeral and today is the day we leave. During the past week I've finally met every member of the house of the dragon, queen alysanne, I was finally able to meet her but she seemed so hollow. I met Rhaenys and her children Laena, Laenor and his dragon seasmoke. I have to say Rhaenys is one hot woman or maybe it's my dragon blood talking, thumbs up to the seasnake, he's my hero from now on. Laena and Laenor are seven and five respectively. They were fun to play with, after Laenor got over his disappointment at seasmoke's size compared to Erebus. Laenor, Laena, Rhaenyra and I promised to keep in touch with letters. All in all it was a good decision to come to kingslanding.
We arrived safely back to runestone and I got back to my life. Until something happens again then until then I'll just enjoy my youth.
